Whoooooo!!!!!!

Rumor has it that Leo (Whoooo!) Schmitz has e-mailed everyone in the ISP that he isn't long for Director and JayBee the Hutt is going to replace him. It was a good run and Leo was certainly no more or less objectionable that some other political hacks who occupied that office. Ellen will find him another political job somewhere.

I remember when the leo was my boss in 007. Good guy, but he took the job waaaay too seriously. You had a good run Leo! I still remember the day when I saw a group of “brick-squad” corner him on the way into the Station. I started running over there worried he was going to get a beating. Boy was I wrong. I heard the Brick-squad threaten leo and told him to lay off patrols in their territory. I wouldn’t have believed it if I didn’t see it. I heard a loud crack! Leo chest slapped two of them. Then he grabbed the biggest one by the Pele Pele collar and said “You’re talking to the Rolex wearing, diamond ring wearing, kiss stealing, whoa! wheelin dealin’, limosuine riding, jet flying son of a gun and I’m having a hard time holding these alligators down!” He really was something. Good luck Leo. I’m sure you’ll land on your feet.

The trooper would be the best director rising through the ranks and knowing the ins and outs of the organization. as far as Leo he is the police, and will land somewhere else soft!

The new Director is the St.Clair County State's Attorney, Brendan Kelly.

To the Men and Women of the Illinois State Police:
Four years ago, I came here to join a proud agency. These years have passed by so quickly but in that time I saw firsthand how impressive the Illinois State Police is as an organization. As I learned more about the Illinois State Police, I was soon convinced that the Troopers of Illinois State Police are the finest law enforcement officers in the world, that they stand shoulder to shoulder with each other in good times and bad and I was truly blessed to work with such an agency. I will always cherish the memories from the last four years and am proud to have been the Director of this agency.
The long list of the incredible achievements made by each of the Divisions are far too numerous to mention here. However, I want you to know that your hard work was appreciated not only be me, but by the citizens of Illinois.
Your dedication to your mission and each other was never more evident than the way you honored Chris over the last few days. You were there for the Lambert, Kozik and Albin families when they needed you. You were there for me and my family in my darkest hour and I will NEVER forget you.
The loss of these Troopers hit me hard and I am always going to carry the loss with me. You made me so proud in handling our loss. Your care for the families during the hardest time of their lives was so impressive. I know that you will take care of those families since they are now ours to take care of forever.
My time as Director comes to an end as of tonight at midnight. I know that you well serve your new Director as well as you did me. I want to thank each and every one of you for what you have done for me both personally and professionally. You are truly the best and I cannot express in words how proud I am to have been one of you these last four years. I can now tell people that for four years I was the leader of the finest law enforcement agency in the world.
Troopers, carry on.
Director Leo P. Schmitz

The expressway is the State Police authority. He backed down and gave in to lawlessness. That morning he said they would not be allowed access. He became a coward that morning. He should have locked up flaker, Jesse and as many of the rest of them as possible and warned Eddie he would be next, but he chickened out. For 3 separate troopers ....Eddie told the Troopers in command on scene that CPD was there for show and would NOT assist in any arrests! Let that stupidity sink in and Leo TOOK IT! Shameful

Leo is a good man and competent, a rarity among bosses. But he has the same failing as most
bosses. He allows himself to be "served" by a small cadre of bootlicks and in turn he takes care of them ala Sgt. J=====x

Leo’s laughing all the way to the bank. He collects a Deputy Chief pension Ellen collects a Lieutenant’s pension that’s probably $200k a year and he was probably close to $200k a year at ISP. So $400k for a couple of years while rubbing elbows with The Who’s who of Illinois. Something tells me he’ll end head of security at somewhere, pulling in another $150k. Does he get a pension from the state? Worked with him when he was a Sgt at Area Five. He’s an ass kisser but he was our ass kisser.

In what universe do you think a lieutenant's pension is 200K a year? Check the BGA pension database after you come down from whatever you've been smoking.

It seems you have a reading comprehension problem in your noggin. Get your vision checked or you should read the comment again. Slowly sound out all the words out loud and you will discover the original commentator gave an estimate of their combined CPD pensions, not just a lieutenant's pension. And, in actuality, a $200K combined estimation is a little low.

Let me slow down for the public school kids who can’t add. Deputy Chief pension (Leo) approximately $110,000-120,000 PLUS a Lieutenant’s pension (Ellen) approximately $90,000 so I figure approximately $200,000 a year PLUS his current ISP salary approximately $200,000 a year so pretty darn close to $400,000 for the last couple of years. Let me know if your kids need help with their homework that new math is tough...

.Eddie told the Troopers in command on scene that CPD was there for show and would NOT assist in any arrests! Let that stupidity sink in and Leo TOOK IT! Shameful

Leo played it smart. He did not want to play into their hands. They desperately wanted to be tussled and/or arrested for their civil disobedience. They would have been on Cloud Nine if they were arrested and, even better for them, met with water cannons and whirling night sticks. They wanted to be social justice expressway "martyrs" for the cause with the carnage and/or arrests flashed across every television in the nation. They wanted to forever be remembered as the Dan Ryan 1,000 or however many of them were arrested, but Leo did not give it to them. But, at the same time, you did not see Leo walking arm and arm with them like our dope. No officer, Leo played it just right.

You must be a PPO. These two were the only civilian superintendents since OW Wilson in 1961. Have you ever heard of Conlisk, Leroy Martin, Richard brzcyyk. Rodriguez, Fred Rice, Terry Hillard were all Chicago police

Little out of order there CHEIF and forgot quite a few names most obvious Cline not to mention Rochford, O Grady,

Funny how both you and the poster you're criticizing came to the same conclusion on their total income.
In case it was over your head, the first poster used a poorly written, run-on sentence to describe the two hundred thousand COMBINED dollar amount in pensions that both Leo and Ellyn bring in. You were so determined to be offended, you failed to see you were simply proving the first poster's point.

Given the consensus of most of the comments, seems like the above makes a lot of sense.

As a citizen, it’s very disconcerting that the best Gov. Pritzker can find for a nominee to replace Mr. Schmitz is a never a career ISP or PO, a fucking lawyer (oh yea there are a few good ones, a PO turner lawyer, maybe)???

I fear that decision may be one of many, many more very bad decisions by Gov. Pritzker.

Looks like Gov. Pritzker has got the potential to govern IL like a Nancy Pelosi or Dick Durbin.

I fear the citizens of IL are so much more fucked than before with Gov. Pritzker.

Right out of the gate he’s done something really stupid.

Sorry, but I didn’t realize they had to be in order or include all of them. Appreciate the correction coming from a guy who spells chief CHEIF
