Lori's Security Connected? (UPDATE)

Hey investigative reporters - tips and clues:
  • I can't find an active PERC registration for James M. Smith in Illinois. If correct, he best be not providing security or "protection" for hire. Didn't check for blue card, tan card, private detective. Somebody smarter than me best look into this matter.
No idea if this is true, but easily fixable in this crooked city, county and state.

This, not so much:
  • It's the same old song and dance.....it's all clout.....Smith's wife is a Houlihan....Do some digging......her Dad was big time politician in the 70's and 80's. He was the Cook county assessor for years and a state rep.....he was also tied to old man Daley and the 19th ward. And his security company was incorporated less than a year ago with 0 employees or contracts. This was all planned.
Looking more and more like the Old Daley (Sr) Machine is alive and well.

Still better than Prickwrinkle though.

UPDATE: some sort of outage occurred between 0530 and 0630 hours this morning. If you posted a comment earlier, it might not have survived. Apologies - we're looking into it.

A little off topic, but an interesting thought. Now that Light Groot has taken away aldermanic oversight of permits in their wards, Light Groot should be able to destroy Edison Park and Mount Greenwood with section 8 housing since the alderman won't be able block it. Ah! Diversity! Your nice area, full of single family homes can now have a rental dump right down the street from you or maybe even next door! You know that you're all a bunch of racists in her mind and any pointy headed social justice warriors will agree. So much for your property values. You can uplift the downtrodden! All of you can get together and take turns picking up the chip bags and pop bottles. We had a coach house down the street from me a few years ago that had some girls and their thug boyfriends raising hell for about a year. I don't live in the nicest area in the city, but I never considered moving until I got sick of them and their playful hijinks, you know, cutting thru yards, having shootouts on the street. It was all in good fun! Welcome to the new city. The only way to escape will be to move out of Illinois and don't vote the way you did here and poison the new neighborhood.

What amazes me is how close Lightfoot seems to be getting to the 19th ward crowd.

Sure Joyce and O'Shea endorsed her, but only after it was clear Preckwinkle was going to lose. They were expecting a Daley/Preckwinkle race.

The real play was Joyce running to hurt Rahm, but then Rahm dropping out and the secret squirrel double play becoming hurting Daley so that Preckwinkle could win and Bridget Gainer 19th ward progeny and now N side county commissioner could replace her as County Board Prez.

Gainer introduced Preckwinkle after Toni made the runoff.

Much double dealing in that scenario.

Gainer thought she was going to be mayor. Then she figured she get appointed county board president. Now she's on the outs with the new mayor and Joyce and O'Shea are in.

I love it when a plan doesn't come together.

I even heard a rumor feds are sniffing around this, but maybe not.

Using government employees on the clock for private business is not good, but I'd think it would have to be big for them to devote the time to investigating.

She can hire her own security no matter who it is what it is or how they are connected. How old do you get a contract like this if you are somebody that nobody sent you will not get it it’s just how things are done in Chicago, and going this way for years and years it’s not gonna change.

Check again. James M Smith holds a current PERC, originally issued in 1990. Also, Silver Star is licensed by the state. What is unclear is who is running Silver Star. It cannot be Smith as he only holds the PERC and is not licensed as a private detective nor as a private security contractor.

5/22/2019 06:51:00 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Smith's partner in the operation is a Daniel Ferrell of Palatine, IL. He no longer holds ANY current license from the Dept of Financial & Professional Regulation so just who has the license which is necessary to run Silver Star. There has to be a body with a current licensed Private Detective or Security Contractor's license to run the show. Man does not live by PERC alone which is the scam many wanna be's play.

Good tip for anyone looking to write up a decent investigative reporting piece!

She definitely beats the alternative who is running against her for mayor, but this doesn’t look right it doesn’t pass the what is the old word smell test, the optics on this is very bad. We know that many people read this insignificant blog the elected people read it constantly to see what is going to turn up on here, many would strongly bet that when the new mayor Lori sees this she’s probably right now not happy, hopefully this man gave her full disclosure before even taking that this position because it is a very lucrative position.

With thanks to whomever posted their website URL, a quick check shows that none of the licenses posted there:

Private Detective License # 117.001714, 115.000040
Private Security Contractor License # 122.001335, 119.000470

are active with the state. IOW, they are not licensed. Typical with this state. They charge outrageous fees for licensing and then do not enforce the law.

OT: important. Sadly, the politirats won’t listen but we must all stand.
On May 21st, the Illinois state House Judiciary Committee voted 12-7 to pass House Amendment 1 to Senate Bill 1966. While it has not yet been scheduled for further action, the House may take it up at any time. HA 1 to SB 1966 would impose various gun control schemes in Illinois, such as criminalizing private transfers and increasing the cost and red tape for a FOID card. Please contact your state Representative and urge them to OPPOSE HA 1 to SB 1966. Click the “Take Action” button below to contact your state Representative.

House Amendment 1 to Senate Bill 1966, sponsored by Representative Kathleen Willis (D-77), would:

Criminalize private transfers, with violations being punished as a Class 4 felony.
Require the recipient of a firearm gifted by a family member to call into Illinois State Police within 60 days to run a background check on themselves, even though they must already hold a FOID.
Allow for the indefinite delay of firearm transfers. Currently, federal law allows a licensed firearm dealer (FFL) to release a firearm after three business days if they have not received any additional correspondence after receiving a “delay” when conducting the initial background check for a firearm transfer. This safeguard prevents the potential shutdown of sales via endless delays and allows law-abiding individuals to take possession of a firearm in a timely manner.
Mandate FOID applicants submit fingerprints, including for renewals, which would not add anything of investigative value.
Increase FOID processing time from one calendar month to thirty business days, which can span more than six weeks.
Reduce the duration of the FOID from ten years to five while also increasing the application fee from $10 to $50, resulting in a 1000% increase in the cost to maintain a FOID for the same amount of time.
Require FOID applicants pay all costs for fingerprinting and processing the background check, totaling around $150 on top of the application fee.
Allow courts to direct law-enforcement to seize firearms from those who have their FOID revoked.
Prohibit those with a revoked FOID from transferring firearms to someone in the same household, which would create confusion in determining the owner of the firearms and would take away the right to self-defense from individuals due to the alleged actions of someone else in their household.
Require the owner of the seized firearms to petition the court to have them transferred to a third party.
Again, please click the “Take Action” button above to contact your state Representative and urge them to OPPOSE HA 1 to SB 1966.

Okay... First I'll access the secret military spy satelite that is in geosynchronous orbit over the midwest. Then I'll ID the limo by the vanity plate "MR. BIGGG" and get his approximate position. Then I'll reposition the transmission dish on the remote truck to 17.32 degrees east, hit WESTAR-4 over the Atlantic, bounce the signal down into the Azores, up to COMSAT-6, beam it back to SATCOM-3 transponder number 137 and down on the dish on the back of Mr. Big's limo. Probably best for all of us regular joes too, it’s just we may not be in the front row to blab all the miscellaneous tasks and duties associated with a mayor security detail.
Most kept a tight lip for a good self preservation reason.
It’s going to take a dumped detailer to spill the beans.

Could LightLoafer be hiding something?
Just wonder where the budget money comes from to pay this new security entity and if there’s really a hidden agenda.
Details come and go and afterwards there’s either another gifted spot or Patrol that pays on the 1st & 16th.

Lori, Lori, Lori with all that "I'm the former federal prosecutor and I'm going to clean up the city" pre and post election talk you got caught already. Your beginning to look like the same liar, the Midget, who just left town on his bicycle trip. Your first clout scandal comes up with hiring an outside private clout contractor to provide for your security detail. You took office two days ago and you stepped in $hit already.

If you don't know how to play with the Machine and not get caught, you better learn fast. You're in the big leagues now girl. Get a mitt and get into the game. If you don't know the Chicago Way, it's gonna be a long four years. Talk to the Political Bosses and get that FIX in. They'll help you with the FIX and straighten out the paper work. Do it quickly before some rogue reporter finds out and bleeds you out in the media. Oh wait, the media, never mind.

Yes there is an exception for retired police officers with the Blue/tan cards. But does it apply to federal agents that were never granted an IL peace officer cert?

Also, he’s sitting in classes when? If he is 24/7 with lightfeet? Also it’s not like he is going to do the whole six month academy like we all did, so no I my mind doesn’t count! Just like streetlight did; just enough to shit us up. They don’t offer that perk for guys that left and want to come back, it’s not even like the retread academy.... let’s see the hrs he spent sitting in class to take the state test. Wonder if he will get the answers from the Lie-tenants? He needs a minimum of 420 hrs to sit for test. Even guys from others states need to show that their former training meet our (not CPD, as they have to do the whole thing) minimum standards for the metro program. Once again take care of the clouted. Good luck to the CPD chumps that have take direction from another carpetbagger.

Seriously now, she'll have to be careful to police the use
of her image. Back in 2011, a west coast surf shop used
MLK Jr. head atop a surfer wearing a wetsuit as a promo
for a 20% off MLK Day Sale. The "Invisible Eye" told the
surf shop that was not cool, so they made a public apology.
It's not like Elvis. You just can't do pop art of MLK wearing

So beware all ye merchants. Her image is off-limits unless

Reference citizens per sworn officer -
Chitcago has 44.2 officers per 10,000. (~1:226)
That puts them in the top 6 of the 100 largest US cities along with Baltimore, NYC, New Orleans, Newark and DC.

DC is at the top with over 65 cops per 10k of population.

I expect Lightgroot and the restorative justice mob will use this info to ‘prove’ that more cops mean more crime and that the way to stop the violence is to cut CPD by half.

Looks like many detectives will be filing a grievance soon. The city is canceling all days off for 3rd watch only for this 4 day weekend. The contract clearly says the city has to use seniority from all watches to fill those spots for any overtime involving a preplanned event the city is aware of 21 days in advance. Obviously they knew Memorial Day weekend was coming more than 3 weeks ago. Or with the inept people running the department, maybe they didn’t.

OT- I am sure with all the studies that we pay for as taxpayers, I have not seen one that has a citizen per officer ratio. One officer per 50 citizens? 1:100? 1:500? 1:5000? What would it be per district? How many does 16th, 20th, 17th, 8th have? With the over time with VRI, what is the ratio? What does is the cost per citizen per district (true A&A) that we are paying for baby sitting?
5/22/2019 12:45:00 PM

_______________

Interesting thought? Why doesn't FOP contract out a professional consulting service for the purpose of conducting such an independent analysis. Spending real money and get a reputable firm so as to limit any challenges by the city. It's all public records.

Look it appears she is not going to listen to the FOP/BPA regarding police concerns/the contract, etc. You already pi$$ed her off by exposing the clout security contractor. She blew you guys off and said, "your always unhappy - what's new". It's hard ball folks and you need to get over it. Don't be liked, be respected.

Patrol Lts and at least one District Commander got frustrated at scenes. They were instructing uniformed Dets to perform Patrol Division duties at scenes thinking they were Patrol personnel. Citizens were confused too, telling Dets they, “already told your partner” when Dets approached them at scenes. Patrol supervisors and commanders were the ones that complained to the powers that be about the confusion this caused. So, you may see it on holiday weekends but it won’t be permanent.

I don't know if this has already been mentioned in previous posts but I drove past Rahm's house earlier this afternoon (Wednesday) and he still has the CPD security detail parked out there even though he's no longer the mayor now for two days. There was a car out front with two officers on Hermitage and a second car in the rear in the alley. Why is he still drawing a CPD security detail? Why aren't these officers patrolling the neighborhoods instead? if I remember correctly Quinn pulled Blagojevich's State Police security detail the second he was no longer governor. and what's going to happen to The Old Firehouse on Byron that was taken over by Rahm's CPD security detail? is it going to go back into the fire department or be sold? some reporter like Johnny Kass needs to look into this.

i agree with 1:40 pm. i spent 50 years working infrastructure construction and repair in chicago, with over 25 years of it on the citys payroll. 99 % of my time was spent in ghettos, pilsen, austin, englewood, roseland etc. i rarely ever worked in good taxpaying nieghborhoods. like cpd we spent all our budget in shit areas for decades.i have heard one politician after another for 50 years talk about the neglected areas of chicago. all lies. always have been. before the crash we were in dorothy tillmans third ward, all new streets, side walks, water and gas mains and street lights etc.and there were like three houses on every block. howmuch do those people pay in taxes and fees compared to what they get in city services? mt. greenwood for example is 98% solvent, everyone pays, and yet they didnt have curbs and gutters and real sidewalks for 60 years. another democrat lie. we have dumped a trillion tax dollars in the ghetto in my life time and they destroy everything as fast as they can and demand more.people dont appreciate free shit, just more consumables for the free shit army to destroy and the sjw's always blame racism for the lack of private investment in these areas.things will never change until the community changes and i dont see that ever happening. so keep taxing and spending and expecting a different outcome. these deluded progressives are truly lost and will kill this city before its over. time to call for an extraction to a safe area behind the lines in a red state.

The kid tried lets make a deal and comes from money:

http://community.seattletimes.nwsource.com/archive/?date=20060425&slug=webdentist25

In 2005, Classen was working as a King County prosecutor in Seattle when his father, James Classen, was arrested in downstate Clark County in Washington after his estranged wife was fatally stabbed, dozens of times, with her sewing scissors.

Maurice Classen called for Clark County prosecutors to accept a guilty plea from his father on a charge of second-degree murder — instead of trying him for first-degree murder. He told a newspaper that Clark County’s chief prosecutor was “playing politics with my mom’s memory and my father’s life.”

That prosecutor fired back that Maurice Classen’s comment was “professionally insulting.”

Other civilian exempts from outside the state never took academy classes except for range qualifications. Johnson will have all the boxes checked for her security detail. Anyways, who cares?”

I think the point is they shouldn’t be running around saying “he’s going to the academy” for anything other than a trip to the basement range. So once again Chicago does whatever it wants and screw the rest. A light needs to be shined on the BS they play. And other chiefs/cites still have there folks take the exam. Oh wait it’s the Chicago way, no need for an exam just anoint the chosen. So no exam needed glad everyone else had to sit for it. Let him be the CO just not sworn...he can be there with a real test taken Leo to take police action.

“He's a retired federal agent. Per the Patriot Act they can carry anywhere just like retired PO's with an IROC card.”

Actually it’s LEOSA that gives the authority and fed or not, still bound by the law, retired doesn’t have the same rights as active, a private party can tell the retired LEOSA guy to leave the property if carrying a pistol. Also, it’s in the law LEOSA can not be used in an employment capacity. He still needs a PERC card.

When 4.75 was talking smack about the FOP in regards to the FOP's objections to her new bodyguard arrangement, all she had to say was the FOP was merely doing the job of representing police officers when making their objection, but this is my preference, instead of, not verbatim, what else is new or when are they ever happy. Thanks shortcake. You are an asshole.

Why don't Alderman file a lawsuit to block her from taking away oversight of permits?

To the one moron who continues to comment about Sauganash and it’s impending doom: You have ZERO idea what you’re spewing and have even less facts to base your bullshit on. I live in Sauganash and the reason I paid up the ass many years ago was to ensure I lived in a good neighborhood with NO apartments. None, nada, zero. Who the f@ck is gonna rent out their single family home to Section 8 up here? Not a damn soul! So knock it off. And no, no empty lots to build on either. As far as mandatory residency in the shithole of Chiraq, it doesn’t get much better and not changing anytime soon. But thanks, angry little troll.
