In Their Own Words

  • "Hyper-aggressive oversight." "Non-supportive city government." "No backing from city, OPA and community." "An increasingly spineless legal system." These are the parting shots of Seattle police officers explaining why they left in the past year.

In dozens of unredacted exit interviews over the past year, departing Seattle police officers provided their agency with their blunt take on the political climate in Seattle, including the statement, “City Council sucks.” Another officer observed of the Police Department, “everybody seems unhappy.”

But many officers praised their leadership and the training, opportunities and relationships they formed within the department. Some said they’d gladly return to SPD “if the city can right itself.”
There's more. Lots more at the link up top.

And it all sounds very very familiar.

Many of us have seen the great documentary Seattle is dying and this just goes right along with that narrative. The parallels to the city of Chicago are so close all that separates us is probably one hair. Why this is happened is due to the elected structure they are the ones that have caused all of this when you let people do whatever they want you bastardized the police officers, you throw the police officers inside of a narrative that is not true along with your news media you constantly constantly pick apart everything the police officers do this is the end result. The people that will suffer are the people that are stuck paying the bills, the people with families that cannot move, the elderly, and any law-abiding people. The liberals that have been elected many are driven around by armed men and women with law-enforcement authority their homes are protected 24 hours of the day seven days a week their children are taken care of by the same men and women so they have no worries, the lemmings they have to worry they are scared.

How many people in the city of Chicago we all know them the older people the elderly and some of the worst neighborhoods who are scared to leave their homes, they may leave their homes early in the day just to get some groceries and then go back in the house behind there bolted doors their windows are covered with security gates and or security shutters, personally I have spoken to some people that are veterans veterans of wars they are scared to go out they say the neighborhoods not safe we are scared. The police do the best they can to give extra patrols to these people, they have paid their dues now they just want to live in peace and harmony but it’s not happening. That we can look at the downtown area, where hordes of teens yeah they are black teens are coming down there battering people robbing people and the police are not able to do the job. Who is to blame? Of course we start with the parents if they even have parents, then we go onto the political thought police who make the rules who make the laws but yet they don’t want the police to do the job because when the police do the job, the police are slammed police are told they are bad.

Now we have elected a new mayor, without any political background we have hope, the new mayor has a lot on her shoulders I realized she has to deal with our major financial problems that the ballerina left us how much of this was hidden? Let’s hope she has a forensic audit of the city books and many of the elected that have done this go to prison for what they have done. The bigger problem is the crime problem which is been on national news consistently, the corruption issue how can we be the number one city and corruption and yet not massive arrest by the federal authorities? Hopefully they are gathering cases as this is being written and they will go and get the elected that have done this, how many more people need to be murdered, maimed, shot, stabbed, robbed Until a solution is finally reached,? Maybe our mayor now will meet with the cook County states Attorney who is not done her job and have a conversation about how to do the job and putting these people and folks in prison jail where they belong. But then again this is Chicago and nothing is happened so far!

(OT) headline sounds good;

Community groups seek more support from City Hall to fight a common foe: Street violence
https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/breaking/ct-met-memorial-day-community-violence-prevention-20190515-story.html

Excerpt:The partnership is looking at what works and what doesn’t before approaching the new mayor, Lori Lightfoot. Her predecessor, Rahm Emanuel, allotted just more than $348,000 for three staff positions in the Office of Violence Prevention in the 2019 budget.

*So Rahm used our tax money $348,000 for three people, sounds pretty excessive what a excessive salary. $123,000 a piece, a police officer starting salary is what about $44,000? No wonder why they can’t get anything done this is ridiculous just another example of how our tax money is literally thrown away, wonder if any of these three people had to give back politically with donations? Another thing for the federal people to look into so many different rabbit holes where money is thrown away.

The Socialists have changed the culture in this Country. They are engaged in an Ideological War & they are winning. The thing is people are waking up to the Socialist Media Narrative & it's abject failures. Downside, people are still sedated & if they don't sober up soon the governing principles of this land ie the Constitution & Bill of Rights will be removed faster than a Confederate Statue on a college campus. I respect all people of all faiths, so long as that respect is mutual. However, if the values of "We The People" gets shredded, your grandkids will be learning the Koran in Spanish at their Chicago Public School!

Police officers are the pillars of a community. The city loses a lot more than just an officer when a veteran officer in their prime leaves the building. It's hard to place a dollar amount on a financial loss but it is huge. Hopefully someone soon "smells the coffee" and realizes the terrible mistake that is being made in seattle.

It is really a sad statement on policing, the resemblance to Chicago is amazing and pathetic. the democrats have done this, by waylaying police and catering to the criminal elements. Letting them run free, and here our dishonest fake news media doing everything Stalinist to overthrow the coppers and the law abiding taxpayers. The media dissects everything police do,and lets the felons use their power to peach against the police.

When the city leaders and the media gets you into their grasp and squeezes the life out of you and then they attack your family,it is no wonder coppers are watching out for number ! themselves and their families. Lori has no horse in the game just the bravado talk, letting people like Eddie stay and the head of CPS, when the fish stinks from the head down and expecting results, when they have decimated so much sorry not taking that risk Lori.

You can thank President Obama for all the police hatred in this country, his negative comments about the police without knowing all the facts proved he was no better than the black caucus who hate the police for all the problems in their community. Police officers should just say f@ck it go on strike and see how the local politicians like it and make them start treating them like human being instead of a disease. The media should not be given a free hand at hiding behind freedom of the press when reporting false stories and the reporter should be sued by the officers involved and see how they like it, call them out every chance we get about their lack of investigative skills to the public and show them how bias they really are

Seattle is a perfect example of what happens when a city is governed by “feelings”. They have bent over backwards to help “the homeless”, “immigrants” (i.e. illegal immigrants) and “people of color”, forgetting that the FIRST priority of any government is to maintain the rule of law. Once a group of people realize that they are beyond the law, they become unmanageable.

The “homeless” situation in Seattle (and Portland, San Francisco and Los Angeles) is a case in point: city politicians, guided by their “feelings” and not their brains, decided that it was “inhuman” to cite and arrest people for camping in parks, so they decided to allow the, to stay there. Not one of these “civic leaders” thought to ask WHY these people were homeless, because “Occupy Wall Street” had already told them it was due to “corporate greed”.

What those of us “on the street” knew - and would have gladly told the “civic leaders”, had they asked - was that the overwhelming majority of them were alcoholics, addicts, insane or some combination of the three. TV reporters would spend hours trying to find and interview one of the few “homeless” people who could string together a rational sentence, ignoring the reality of the situation in order to find someone to support their narrative that the Great Recession had thrown families and hard-working, sober people out on the streets.

Now that the unemployment rate - especially on the West Coast - is in the low single digits, the fact that the number of “homeless” people continues increasing has been ignored. Now it’s due to “over-policing”, leading to criminal records for “non-violent crime” (which apparently includes assault and strong-arm robbery, at least in Seattle).

The only way to fix Seattle is to vote out the entire city government, fire all the bureaucrats and start fresh.

The only realistic approach is to let the Army take over. Civilian rule of law is like a bucket of crabs. Until those elements of the press, as well as elected officials of the criminal class that are working daily towards chaos are dealt with the only realistic course is Martial Law. I watched a short discussion about LA, the homeless, the mounds of rubbish, the rats and typhus. And of course the mayor and the celebrities are well insulated from it all. So they can come out of their holes and spout the usual liberal tripe without feeling the negatives up close and personal. Bill Whittle, who lives in LA, said he thought it would literally take some celebrity dying of the bubonic plague before the liberals running that city and state would do a thing differently.

And here's an interesting read about the Berkeley PD, how it went from being the sought after department to get into to the one losing officers and feeling unappreciated. Part of their problem was they hired an outside chief from Seattle. From a guy that left, “You can get paid the same at many other agencies, and not deal with protests, not deal with a city that doesn’t like you,” he said. “Who wants to walk into a restaurant and not get served? We’d walk into stores and they’d say, ‘You’re not welcome.'”

“The whole mood of the council since the last election has been … looking for scandals that aren’t there, and looking at things that happen in other parts of the country and using that as the basis for more police reform [in Berkeley],” Stines said. “They’ve really been finding straw men to make this job even more difficult for the average Berkeley cop.” Good article that hits on many of the same points that you hear locally. https://www.berkeleyside.com/2018/12/20/as-staffing-crisis-continues-for-berkeley-police-officers-who-left-reveal-why

Not all that fresh news. Back in the 70's a Des Moines friend with eight years on was on patrol and caught a robber. The chief drove by, seeing the struggle but doing nothing to help. Next day he hauls my friend in to ask where his hat was. Eight years of good police work walked out that door and didn't look back.

>Slow-Clap of Appreciation and Agreement
echoing in a large room<

THIS...

Will loom quite large in the "discussion" regarding the state
of affairs in America's large liberal-democrat/progressive-
collectivist controlled urban centers and the American political,
cultural and economic landscapes as a whole.

We have, during our lengthy Law Enforcement sojourn, gone around
and around regarding how such a conversation SHOULD begin and one
day it came to us.

First?
Acknowledge human commonality before all differences are
even allowed to be rolled out on the stage.

The Progressives love de-railing calm and rational discussion
with contrivance, dogma and donkey dung in general because they
want absolutely N O T H I N G to do with allowing the premise
of "The Reasonable Man" to "have a seat" at whatever table they
deign to sit at because "The Reasonable Man" is anathema to them
and all they cherish and believe in.

Second?
Once commonality is established, it will be understood and
wholly accepted that in said commonality, there IS by virtue
of all of us inhabiting this madly whirling celestial mudball
in orbit around the dwarf star commonly known as the Sun,
this thing that can be from here forward known as the
"Contract With Society."

>Pause... Sip... Momentary Reflection<

This IS substantial stuff.
No?

Part II:

Usually, the attention-span of a gnat crowd start howling
at SCC to censor/censure/relegate us to the digital void
because they're irked/bothered/triggered that a mere "Cop"
expresses thus...

We and many of the other irate, steadfast and stalwart
regulars (posters and readers) owe an unpayable debt
to the blogmeister.

At any rate... Back to the "Contract with Society."

"We..." Are all "here" and there's nothing the rest of
everybody else can do about that. On certain levels of course.

(Now some will quibble whether cosmic accident or Divine Design
is the causative... We're not here to plow another man's land
when we're devoted to standing on our own rock of understanding
regarding this. "You, do you...")

By virtue of such, "we" are all compelled - provided that "we"
are more or less morally and ethically whole/intact, to conduct
ourselves in such a manner that allows "us" to co-inhabit in "this
place" peaceably, respectfully and in common purpose with others of
"like mind."

-CAVEAT WRIT LARGE-

The above IS a righteous/up right thing to strive for.

But the "Reasonable Man" does understand that human beings
are/can be contradictory, dangerous, duplicitous, evil,
fraught, hypocritical, savage, self-centered, unenlightened,
unevolved, vain, vicious, willfully ignorant and other such
in the alphabet soup of descriptive adjectives.

Cultural and societal problems attain prominence when there
are those who DELIBERATELY set themselves apart from everybody
else by opting to pay no heed whatsoever to their "Contract
With Society."

Which presents an interesting conundrum...

"Freedom."

It is "The Reasonable Man's" understanding that we are all
"Free" to do as we see fit.

As any Policeman worth the ink on their paper will attest,
many are the M/Fers being an affliction to society have
their heads full of how "free" and unencumbered they are
from accepted and commonly understood customs, conventions,
laws, rules and the like...

5/23/2019 11:15:00 AM
Anonymous The Box Chevy Phantom said...

Part III:

-ANOTHER CAVEAT WRIT LARGE-

With "Freedom," comes VERY necessary constraints.

It is THIS understanding that separates the evolved/
evolving human being from the trending-back-to-the-trees
mouth-breathing savage who seems to delight in inflicting
his misery upon the rest of society.

Whatever his self-interested reasons may be.

And when there is an entire population group/sub-group
or demographic that takes glory in dwelling apart from
society in this manner, society is NEGATIVELY impacted.

The ideal would be if they would wholly self-segregate
and "wander Sinai" to eventually self-extinguish and
no longer negatively impact the rest of society.

They, knowing that they would indeed self-extinguish
in the wilderness, are parasitically attached to the
rest of society where there are those who tragically
give them aid, comfort and sympathy to the point of
cultural, political and social weaponization so as to
engender great potential danger and harm TO society.

We have referred to them as "The Catered-To Constituency."

Insert any other well know descriptive adjective
according to your own whims and pleasures...

The great undoing of American Society because?

That one would/could recognize that the "New Equality"
(as we like to call it) does not bode well for society,
usually results in one being demeaned, defamed, labelled
and slandered with some "-ist," "-ism" or just derided as
"some-kind-of-phobe" according to the prevailing narrative
that is clogging some much of the bandwidth.

Society needs to deal directly and firmly with this problem.

The course correction is badly needed.

>Pause... Sip...<

So... Is it time to have that "conversation" yet or no?

Heh...

Just some musings from a "brutal, conservative, heavy-fisted,
insensitive, mean, old, racist, uneducated 'Edison Park and
Mt. Greenwood echo chamber enclave dwelling'" Policeman.

"WAH! Isn't it AGAINST THE RULES for you 'mere public servants'
to think and say this kind of nasty and unhelpful stuff?"

Police Like You Have No Friends...

Look.
Point & Laugh.
Leave.
