Ten-Year-Old TVB's
- Omar Orozco couldn’t believe his eyes: three kids in two off-road vehicles going down the Dan Ryan Expressway at about 60 mph. Orozco was driving home to Lansing around midnight Friday night when he spotted the two vehicles in the southbound lanes near the Garfield exit.
The vehicles appeared to be Polaris Ranger side-by-sides. Even more shocking, the drivers appeared to be about 10 years old. They didn’t have their lights on, and the vehicles did not appear to have any license plates.
Video of his encounter has been posted on YouTube and Facebook, where it already has been viewed more than 300,000 times, and has more than 1,900 comments and 11,000 shares.

You hit the lights and sirens, they take off, you can't chase. If they crash cuz you tried to stop them, you get blamed. If they actually stop then flee on foot, you may have to put hands on them in which case you get blamed. And if you catch them? judge doesn't hold them, sends them home and state's atty drops charges. In any case, police can't win. Best let them go. Only write paper and clean up mess later if necessary.

Shouldn't Omar have both hands on the wheel? Don't we have laws about distracted driving? For example, not using your cell phone, in your hands, while driving? There was even text and emoji added. Did he do that too? All while at highway speeds? If he wants police intervention, perhaps he should receive some tickets too.

Orozco is lucky they didn't fire a few shots at him. I used to leave A/3 at 0200 hrs and would take the Kennedy until I realized it was more dangerous with all the drunks and nuts than what I saw in my previous 8 hr. tour. I then switched to the arterial streets which took another 10 to 15 minutes. Even with that you have to watch out for people blowing thru red lights. Expressway accidents usually kill you.

What would be the point of stopping them? For what? Are you gonna write traffic tickets to a 10yo? What would they care? Arrest them? Nothing happens. Just let them ride, maybe they’ll crash.

What's new is your ability to be alarmed

Many cities have instructed the police not to chase them. They have become the official vehicles of drug dealers. You can weave through traffic and the cops will leave you alone.
For some reason this is considered positive by the community and a good activity for the youth to take part in.

Yah how stupid of that PPO to think something like that. Brand new to the job, probably doesn’t know his elbow from his asshole, but knows the job he was hired for, and he dare think to do it. Now I agree, I don’t pull them over either, I see that shit all time in 011 in the little motorbikes, nothing but bad news can come from pulling them over, so we just let them go. But, to say he’s a dumbass because he had a thought about stopping them, when he’s brand spanking new to the job? You just sound like an asshole. Why not explain to him why we wouldn’t pull them over and how nothing bad can come from it instead of just calling him a dumbass. I see lots of complaining about how these PPOs and fresh of status guys don’t know anything (of course they don’t!!) but when they ask guys like you something, you probably treat them like shit and call them a dumbass.
