Going Federal
- Four teenagers who faced state carjacking charges for taking an off-duty Chicago police officer’s vehicle in Edgewater last October have now been slapped with a federal indictment in the case.
A federal grand jury charged 18-year-olds Jamar Jarvis and Javion Bush along with 19-year-olds Raynell Lanford and Jamaal Ashsaheed with the Oct. 18th incident in the 5800 block of North Winthrop.
After taking the off-duty cop’s Lexus shortly after midnight, Jarvis, Lanford, and Ashsaheed drove onto Lake Shore Drive where officers working in the Town Hall (19th) Police District intercepted the vehicle and followed it south as members of the FBI’s Carjacking Task Force and the Chicago Police Department helicopter unit joined in.
Officers eventually pulled the vehicle over in the 5500 block of South Lake Shore drive and then chased the occupants on foot before each was arrested. Police said a gun was found inside the stolen car.
The feds don't lose too many car-jacking cases. We're looking forward to this one playing out in court. The four offenders have all been in custody at County since apprehension. Does anyone know if they get transferred to the MCC at some point so Crimesha can't under-bail them?

If you want to punish criminals you can’t let Kim Fixx anywhere near the case. She’s the guardian of crime. She makes Chicago a welcoming home for bad guys.
Evictions work the best. Do they live in public housing of any kind? Evict the whole family. Something about getting arrested make them a neighborhood hero? Throw their mothers out into the street. Put their little brothers and sisters into foster homes. I can guarantee a few of those and the whole state will behave itself.
These acts were just property crimes. Not violent crimes, just property crimes we were told during the epidemic.

CPD officers make on view arrests while the FEDS construct long term well documented investigations that result in massive federal incarceration. It’s a result of abilities, aptitude and training. You can’t compare the two with CPD being like a suburban cop and FEDS being akin to Texas Rangers. Sorry.

I said this months ago! The Federal Carjacking law has been on the books for years, and is mich stricter,especially since these Feds unlike Obama’s DOJ are not playing Restorative Justice bullshit. Now since Illinois thanks to Quinn no longer has a Death Penalty; the Feds going after Officer Rivera’s murderer as a Hate Crime under Federal Law would be a lot closer to Justice than anything from Cook County Justice. And Federal Prosecution of Paul Bauer’s murderer should also be considered. The Political/Racial Corruption of Cook County makes anything approaching “Justice” virtually impossible if the defendant is Black. This is a Reality that everyone in Government and Media want to deny. Cmdr. Bauer was an on-duty law enforcement official performing his duty when he was murdered. Federal prosecutions are by perogatve. The Federal Government may choose to enforce these specific violaitons of specific federal law. Rivera was “hunted” and murdered because of he was Hispanic. The Feds can impose a Death Penalty for certain Feceral Law violations, even in a state that does not have a death penalty! Stay Safe and Strong. Baby “G”

Good, get this case out of that useless bitches hands. I read on CWB that federally, carjacking with a gun carries a max sentence of life in prison. I doubt that’s where it goes, but how wonderful to dream. It’s pathetic we need the feds in Chicago to handle this stuff knowing it won’t get handled at the local level. If this didn’t go federal these wastes of oxygen would be looking at like 6 years a piece, with credit for time in, they’d be out in less than a year. I’m just throwing numbers out there, I didn’t really do any math in regards to how long they’ve been in, etc for the inevitable comment about how my numbers are off.

Those four Car-Jacking **Teenager** assholes are f--ked. Pursuant to a quick Google search, the latest stats (2012) show that the Feds win 93% of the cases they prosecute, so these 'boys' better get all their farewells over with before their trials even start.
That is if they're dumb enough to go to trial. The smart move is to cut the best deal possible asap by ratting on your homies. Then again if these knuckle-dragging neanderthals were smart they wouldn't be lowlife criminals in the first place.
Anywho, I hope this is a new trend; prosecuting on the Federal level whenever possible. Especially with 'Restorative Justice Warrior' Lil Kimmy Foxx occupying the Cook County States Attorney office for the foreseeable future.
*IF* the Feds did this with all Firearm related offenses, Drug Trafficking, and all crimes that could be Gang related, Chicago just might become livable again after a couple years of a no-nonsense approach to crime.

Turning prosecution over to President Trump's Feds is a very good idea. Local Chicago government, criminal justice system has been taken over by BlackLivesMatter SJWs. Open Black criminals in non political crimes like Car Jacking are being let go, so are under 18 yr old gang bangers shooting people on the Red Line.
When Eric Holder and Lorreta Lynch were running Obama's InjusticeDepartment, there was no point in expecting any honest crime and punishment from those terrible, BlackLiesMatter people. Eric Holder (not very Black, Buppie from Barbados). But now things have changed at the Fed Level.
The Elliot Ness Treasury Department stories are mostly fake PR, but the concept is a good one. Honest, law and order Fed Law enforcement officials coming down to clean up crime in criminal anarchy Chicago.

I'm watching the case of Derrick McMath (booking #20180617007), the 29yo assailant who has been in lockup at 26th & California since last June for wantonly punching a woman in the face so hard that her eye had to be removed because it was damaged beyond any hope of repair.
When interviewed upon his arrest about his motivation to punch a female stranger in the face as she read her Kindle while riding the Red Line, he did his best to explain himself. "I dunno, because she white and she be reading. Bitch. I didn't do shit."
That's a federal hate crime. I'd love to see the U.S. Attorney's office take an interest in discouraging that kind of thing.

The Feds are not the Texas Rangers and do not enforce federals law (all do respect to them). You must be a big fan of Chuck Norris.
Feds select and review cases based on federal law. Generally they are free of politics, except if you are the past FBI Director. They have more tools and unlimited funds to work their cases, support systems, and they work closely with Fed prosecutors enforcing federal laws. The FBI is very good at what they do. Ask Ald. Burke.
We are not suburban cops (all respect to them). Chicago is the third largest city in the country with the combined murder rates of NYC and LA. We provide immediate response, routine patrol, investigations, related police/safety and other city services. We are heavily influenced by Machine politics, Police Hater Mayor Rahm, Federal Consent Decree, crooked aldermen, the Community, foolish religious leaders, crooked Courts and State's Attorneys Office.
Lastly, ours is a local law enforcement mission of a mixed bag of state and local laws, administrative codes and regulations. In many cases the States Attorney's Office does not want to prosecute the rich, politically powerful or the members of the Community. The local media aides and abets this political environment. This insanity foster the murder and mayhem that makes Chicago - Murder City.
CPD is well educated, dedicated and currently trained to do their mission under extraordinary negative circumstances, as noted above. Two different mission in two separate spheres of enforcing laws. CPD is under yoke on of City Hall corruptive practices and clout, the other is not.
Now go play in traffic.

Calling it now: Feds will not put the j-crew carjackers behind bars. They are setting the same precedent that Kimmy is: certain groups will not be punished for lawlessness. Other groups will be punished to the max for 'bad thoughts'.
