CPD Officer Sues Crimesha, Others
We don't think he'll make any headway against Crimesha - the Machine will pull out the stops to claim prosecutorial immunity. But he might get a decent payout from the Park Ridge police chief and their police department:
- A former Chicago police sergeant is suing Cook County State’s
Attorney Kim Foxx and other officials for wrongful prosecution, saying
they ignored the law and caved to public pressure by criminally charging
him with detaining a teenager who was with his son’s recently stolen
bike.
Michael Vitellaro was found not guilty on all charges during a bench trial one year ago.
[...] Ultimately, Park Ridge officials and the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office caved to the pressure, even though they knew that Vitellaro acted within his authority as a law enforcement officer to detain someone suspected of committing a crime, the suit contends. The alleged crime in this case was possession of stolen property.Vitellaro accuses then-Park Ridge Police Chief Frank Kaminski of proceeding with criminal charges, even though he was aware of evidence that was favorable to Vitellaro.
The suit accuses Assistant State’s Attorney Lynn McCarthy of being “deliberately indifferent” to Vitellaro’s rights by failing to terminate the criminal case when she knew he was “authorized to perform the acts for which he was criminally charged.”
Kaminski has since resigned - for this or for other reason we aren't aware of - but from everything we heard, he was a useless tool in suburb that spawned Hillary Rodham. Hopefully the CPD sergeant bankrupts him.
If he can prove that ASA McCarthy acted with "deliberate indifference," he might get a a judgement against her, too.

I live in Palos Heights and we have the same problem here. The department is nothing more then traffic enforcement and could not catch a real criminal if they tried, which they do not. Not too long ago they responded to a robbery alarm and as they pulled up the armed stick up guy was walking out the front door. They let the criminal get into his car and drive away and followed him only to the city limits and then stood down. A neighboring department chased and caught the guy. This was not the first time they did something like this. Everything to avoid any possible complications. They even has destroyed evidence from crime scenes to avoid paying for the crime lab ( they use a private lab, not the state).Pathetic.

Seen this happen many times, many people will be upset, but it will not be because thay are losing money. It will be the City saying ok, you want to griev or sue, then we will handle it this way, either they will no longer offer overtime at all, or they will make overtime a city wide bid and the only people who will be getting overtime will be people with 20 years or more. You short timers should be careful what you ask for. I'm sure the difference in time between the favorite one and the grievant was more then likely less then a year. So, now all you short timers will not be getting any overtime because you cried about 1 spot for overtime. I have been on 28 years and this grievance process is always how the city handles the grievance. So, in the end your just shooting yourself in the foot filing a grievance about overtime. The City always takes this route.
Make them all defend their insane actions.
Sue everyone involved in the harm to you including the ones that stripped you and kept you in callback longer than you had to be. Once you’re cleared, you should be released.

When Trak was a recruit, Larry was his HRI. He tried for years to get merit Sgt at the Academy but it only happened once Larry got the Supt spot. Hey Trak, how’d you swing getting the Dept to pay for you and your family to go overseas to “train” police departments in Thailand or where ever it was for all those years? Nice paid summer vacation every year.

There are qualified candidates who are still not getting accepted by the city, yet we pass every single exam possible. However, the qualified outweigh the unqualified easily. Moreso they're letting people pass the CPD exams and steps multiple amounts of times. Don't be a fucking fool, CPD can't even hire a mouth breather to be in a uniform. More importantly this retarded recruitment team doesn't know dick, can't sign up dick, and they are worse than the active military recruiters out there. I love Rick Flair, but no one is Rick Flair but the jungle boy.

When I worked in The Peoples Republic of Oak Park, every time you had In-service training of any kind, it could be range, shotgun, general orders, new laws, etc, it was ALWAYS followed by a half hour of "diversity training" given by this white broad that was married to some black dude in town.

FLSA grievance, the city just did away with FLSA overtime, we no longer get FLSA overtime on the books. The city pays us in case once we reach the FLSA overtime limit. I am guessing you don't even know what FLSA overtime on the books even means, because you more than likely were not on the job. FLSA overtime can not be denied when you put in for the day off. We use to beable to carry that on our time due tally. Guess what after the grievance they paid anyone in cash who had FLSA on the books. Now no one has FLSA on the books.
WestHaven overtime was only for 013 District coppers, someone filed a grievance and the city said ok, and just opened up to the entire department and then you couldn't get the easy overime gig unless you had 22 or more years, because the entire department had the opportunity to bid for the overtime not just the district po's.
CHA overtime was for only CHA assigned po's, someone filed a grievance and next thing you know working that overtime gig was opened to the entire department and you needed to have time on the job to get that overtime.
So, you keep believing filing petty grievances about not getting a 4 hour extension of tour will actually get you rich. Petty grievances like this do nothing but hurt all the po's in the long run. The bosses stick together on this kind of shit.
Get some time on and experience the bullshit before you make an ignorant statement like you posted above.
I have teenagers who hang out with Park Ridge kids. The word is that the group that Vitellaro caught with his son's bike is good for a lot of bike thefts in Park Ridge. People are scared to report them because they're worried about the backlash.
The new Chief of Park Ridge is Bob Kampwirth. Solid guy, hopefully he can get the place running like it should.
