Wednesday Quick Hits

Why buy the sun-times when you can read the interesting stories on-line?
  • "Hired Truck" prepares to take down it's first aldercreature. Wambir and Novak write about aldercreature carrie austin leasing out space to a "Hired Truck" front company. How far will this go?
  • The trial of the millennium begins for george ryan. He's already been smearing scott fawell for flipping on him. Fawell was expected to do his decade and shut the hell up like "quarters" boyle is doing for chicago pols. Good help is sooooo hard to find.
  • Traffic aides ticketing jaywalkers? Not while daley is mayor! The streets are once again safe for everyone to disregard "walk-don't walk" signs. In a strange twist however, the hall is contemplating selling "passes" for hitting up to 3 pedestrians a year - kind of like a hunting permit.
  • And commander sullivan is getting the royal treatment. Here's the times article; here's the channel 7 article - video; Ladies and Gentlemen - May we present your newest candidate for Deputy Superintendent?

>>
take a look at the DA in texas bringing this case the guy is a political Hack and democratic fund raising star he makes Kathlene harris look independent and neutral this is partisan politics at its worse much worse than chicago we have only one party here<<

I stole this from a post on another website:

>>Earle answer in his own words:

"The thinly veiled personal attacks on me by Mr. DeLay's supporters in this case are no different from those in the cases of any of the 15 elected officials this office has prosecuted in my 27-year tenure. Most of these officials - 12 Democrats and three Republicans - have accused me of having political motives. What else are they going to say?

For most of my tenure the Democrats held the power in state government. Now Republicans do. Most crimes by elected officials involve the abuse of power; you have to have power before you can abuse it."

http://www.nytimes.com/2004/11/23/o...ogin&oref=login<<

I'm just sayin... I'm a Republican, and the only part of this indictment that I regret is the harm it causes the party beyond what he's already done by being an ass. Though he's no Daley.

Superintendent Cline Announces Pilot Program
to Install Cameras in Squad Cars, Expands Entrance
Exam Access to Strengthen Diversity

For Immediate Release
September 28, 2005

Chicago Police Superintendent Philip J. Cline today outlined several steps the Chicago
Police Department has implemented to enhance mutual trust and understanding
between police officers and members of the community. Some of those initiatives
include making the entrance exam more accessible, bolstering training and introducing
a pilot program to install cameras in Chicago Police squad cars.

“This summer, we have engaged the community in an ongoing discussion about traffic
stops, about courtesy and demeanor and about officer and citizen accountability,” said
Superintendent Cline. “While we continue our remarkable work to reduce crime,
prevent violence and strengthen the quality of life in all of Chicago’s communities, we
also must be ever mindful of the work we need to do to build mutual trust between the
police and those we serve.”
Today, the Department announced today that it would launch a pilot program to install
cameras in a minimum of 12 squad cars.
The commitment stems from community feedback and from a desire to take every step
necessary to ensure that traffic stops occur safely and professionally.

Superintendent Cline has formed a committee that is visiting other jurisdictions, crafting
policy regarding how the cameras will be utilized and is seeking funding sources to
expand the pilot program and install cameras on a more permanent basis.

Preliminary estimates indicate that equipping one squad car with digital video capacity
could cost up to $5,000. There are currently 3,000 marked and unmarked cars in the
Department’s fleet. The Department will aggressively seek state funding for the program
and will explore what Federal grants are available.
With an eye toward strengthening diversity within the ranks, Superintendent Cline also
announced measures to make the Chicago Police entrance exam more accessible.
Next year, the exam will be administered once a quarter, instead of just once or twice a
year.
“I am proud of our efforts to further diversify the Chicago Police Department,” said
Superintendent Cline. “I have asked faith leaders and elected officials to assist us in our
ongoing recruiting efforts. I have restored the cadet program to encourage more young
people to consider careers in law enforcement. If we can make the application and testing
program more accessible and open, then we can strengthen diversity.”

Over the next two years, every Chicago Police officer will receive updated diversity
training. This is part of a broader effort to provide all officers with the latest instruction at
the academy on a variety of subjects.

Over the short term, officers will receive updated training on the collection of data on
traffic stops via video streaming. The updated videos will reaffirm the Department’s strict
prohibition of any form of bias based policing. Superintendent Cline also underscored the
important role supervisors play in identifying potential patterns of behavior.
“Our supervisors are sworn to be ever-vigilant in their efforts to identify any kind of pattern
of behavior that may indicate whether an officer is engaged in bias-based policing,” said
Superintendent Cline. “We know that nearly every Chicago Police officer conducts his or
her work well within the law and within our rules and regulations. However, it’s our
supervisors’ responsibility to be vigilant and pro-active in this area.”

You left off the final paragraph.

"Unless our supervisor is a political hack or of royal blood. Then he will be tucked away in a unit with a take home car and a S/S day off group on 2nd watch. We don't want anything to harm their careers as their sponsors would be upset. We'll need them 10 or 15 years from now to make important police policy decisions they know nothing about"

With regards to the indictment of Tom Delay a few FACTS, must be presented for a FULL understanding of what is going on here so thoise of you can draw your own concluisions based on facts.

1. The DA in Texas tried for 2 yrs to indict Delay on charges other than this consipracy charge.

2. Only when he could not get an indictment on the initial charges did he go with concpiracy

3. A Grand Jury in this particular county is picked by the Judge (Elected Democrat)

4. This DA also threatened to Indict Kay Bailey Hutchinson but never did (so far)

5. This DA also indicted himself ,,,,yes himself

6. This indictment arises from some Texas Corporations donating $$ to The RNC who in return allegedly funded Republicans running for election in Texas which resulted in a redistricting giving the Republicans a majority in the State house and senate.

7. I guess only the Democrats can do this and it's OK but when a Republican does this it's wrong.

8. So whether u like Delay or not this is the jist of what happened, certainly no Republican implosion.

9. SHADY give your keyboard a break!!!

5,000 for a stinkin camera and recording device. Where they gettin those...Daley's relatives,friends,etc...as usual. Lemme see the bid announcement. Let's see 3,000 times 5,000. Can you do the math? $15 mil. But that could buy a few more wrought iron fences. Oh, wait the polls are turning, better spend it on the popo.
It sure will be fun to let some of this footage out and let the public see the side of the citizens that only we see. Show that shit on the news and see how we are treated, disrespected, and expected to just sit there and take it. That would be a first. Once the idiots get on TV maybe then this city will have a true appreciation for the FINEST.
I can see it now..."but I'm a state senator...a state senator..FOR THE THIRD TIME, get the fuck back in the car like I said."

6:42 hit the nail on the head ! I personaaly would like a camera on my car. I believe the reason the camera "experiment" from a few years back "failed". Think about it. Proof the cop was right and the jerkoff calling ops was full of crap. What would happen to ops? And speaking of ops, with the drop in cr's from the sworn affidavit, the budgetary problems, why not a reduction in ops personal? 50% reduction + in cr's should equal a reduction of equal proportions. I think we can all figure that 1 out.

$5000.00 a pop ? I better start making some polital contrubutions and get my "minority" company goin' now. A quick check at Gals found a system for $4500. And if you equip all the cars, I'm sure the city wouldn't even think of asking MY company for a volume discount. I'm in the money,I'm in the money ....
