The press is in Daley's hip pocket. Once in a while, the media will stir up some shit just trying to make it look on the up and up. They all know that Daley is insulated by his corrupt posse. They also know that any alternative to Daley would probably be even worse. This town is so fucked up with political corruption. It's only when indictments come out that the media gets holier than thou.

OK. Who decided at the last minute to notify us of the change in location of Domestic Court. What about all the victims and/or witnesses who have been notified to go to the old location over the last month or two? I take umbrage at your constant bombardment of this distinguished Mayor and his Administrators.
Certainly there are some legitimate criticisms but, in the overall scheme of things, the real blame for the unctuous miasma of negativity should be layed at the feet of the Chicago Police Department. The police are down 60,000 parking tickets from a year ago. That lack of revenue has further heightened the pressure that this Mayor is under.
Where is your loyalty and empathy?
Millenium Park is a sparkling dream that has come to fruition but the myopic contributors to this site fail to see the profound positive impact that this 500 million dollar masterpiece will mean to this City of Big Shoulders.
This Mayor has personally assisted me on many occasions when I was followed by the dark cloud of controversy. He was my salvation.
The police should cease their incessant mewlings and get behind this Mayor and do what he asks. He is a good man, a solid White Sox fan and Irish. All that adds up to a sterling and charismatic personality whose very smile brightens the sky.

I agree with northside. I've only been in 025 a few years and I don't know what it was like "back in the day", but during my short time here, Lt. Finnegan has been OK. Not the best boss I've ever worked for but a far cry from the worst. He seems to care about the "troops" and does what he can for them when they need help, either at work or in their personal lives.

Aks him about the time he got caught /w about 3,000 hrs on the books when he was in 015 and got a little wrist slap, and was allowed to keep them. He sucks, if he were on fire I would'nt cross the street to piss on him.

Finnegan was'nt caught in 15, it was in 25 when Joe Curtin was made D/C. Prior to Curtins arrival, Tact. Lt. Finnegan was on the books from 0600 till 0200 almost every day. He racked up an incredible amount of hours. Curtin wanted to know when his duty hours were when he noticed him there all day and all night. Curtin obtained confidential C/R # on Finnegan, and suddenly he was back to 8 hour tours like everyone else. After months of investigation, they let him keep the hours because they would have had to discipline the W/C's who were signing all those slips for the good Lt. If the slips were signed legit, he must have been there ( even when he was home sleeping). What a bogus investigation that was. He should have been prosecuted and sent to jail for theft. Now he's the president of the Lt's association and he thinks everyone forgot of his past. But his day will come. Banks can't protect him forever.
...or when a PPO last year had a severe lung infection and passed out behind 025 in the parking lot while on duty. They wheeled him out in an ambulance. Kid went on medical and spent 2 weeks in the hospital. Finnegan tried to get the kid fired for medical abuse. the word "tool" comes to mind...

Heard the P.O.s in 016 stopped her for running a red light at 3am then, when they got her to the station and were bringing her in the back, she came up with the "my son is a Chicago cop" admission after booking was completed.
I won't blame the cops for doing their job - what was mom doing out at 3am, running red lights and half in the bag? She's lucky she didn't kill someone. I personally would have taken her home, and locked her keys in her car but, that's just me. I don't have the whole story. The offended officer left a one page tirade in the locker room in 025 regarding what he thought of the treatment his Mom got. They may have saved her life that night ... who knows?
