Two Things about FOP

First point - the 10 hour day. Seems we're hearing that either side (city OR FOP) was allowed to back out of the 10 hour day pilot program with no explanations necessary or required. As most people seemed to think it work great and wanted to keep doing it, we're guessing that the city (or superintendent) exercised their option to cancel because it will reappear on the table during negotiations and we'll be asked what we're willing to give up for it back. Tread carefully here.

Second point - someone commented about ticket book inspections in northside districts? And someone else asked if anyone had notified FOP? First of all, sounds like some bosses are trying to push a ticket (or activity) quota without calling it a quota. You'd think they'd have learned by now. Second of all, this is exactly why FOP needs an anonymous contact method to notify them of crap like this without harming the reporting copper. Has anyone called, wrote or sent up a signal flare?

5 on 2 off is impossible unless you have set days off i.e. sun/mon, mon/tue, tue/wed, wed/thur, thur/fri, fri/sat, and sat/sun. you would have to be on the job for about 20 years before you got weekends.........no thanks.
I think you are thinking 4 on 2 off. Remember though that works into our favor....less days worked in a year and they insist we work 2080 hours a year...that equalls 40x52.

The problem with FOP is that has always been run by detectives. Do you really think a detective long removed from a marked patrol car knows or cares about the issues affecting the average police officer? Why 9,000+ patrolman continually choose a detective to represent their interests is beyond me.

If you notice, the Detective Division always seems to do pretty well in contract negotiations (ie. D2A pay).

Here's an idea. . . why not vote in an actual working police officer as FOP president. It wouldn't be hard to do, as patrolman far outnumber those in the D-unit. Unfortunately, most coppers are too lazy to actually take the time to mail in their election ballots. Thus, the Detective Division retains a stranglehold on the FOP. As such, your situation and needs remain unchanged and unaddressed.

4 on 2 off means you work less hours. If you think the city would just give you the same money for less hours worked, you are a retard.

What are you willing to give in exchange for 4 on 2 off? Since you can't get it through negotiation without trading something, and you can't get it through arbitration, are you willing to take a paycut.

FOr instance: if you work 10% less hours, are you willing to take a 10% pay cut??

Even if you are, that still won't be accepted by the city because they'd have to hire more cops to cover the same hours. Salary would be the same, but money spent on benefits and pension would go up.

Bottom line: you find a revenue way to do it, and MAYBE you can get it without giving something up. Unlike all the places you eat, nothing is free with this City.

Get over the D2A pay issue.

That you even know anything about it means you must also know that all D2A pay did is to restore something that was lost.

The detectives had been shorted for years.

Other than getting back to where they were, they haven't gotten anything extra in a contract. Period.

Get the fuck over it.

P.S. I did laugh though when I found out that detectives with 15 years on were getting, like 2a, 3b furloughs. Bwahahaha!! Patrol wins on this one, baby!!!

I say this... we demand it and cause all kinds off kaos like New York did. Time to fuck the city back. Massive traffic stops cause grid locks and back logs.

Show them just how bad we can make it. Get rid of 25 or so useless aldergoofs. Its time to take our job back. 4 on 2 off and no 6th day. We give them nothing. Its a payback for all they have taken from us. Why cant we just stick together?

12/08/2005 08:22:00 AM

What are your ideas? How can we start squeezing the city right now just to ripple the waters. Give them a small taste of what they would be in for. Make all their doc shit go right out the window.

Cause traffic grid lock and back logs are a great idea. New York Coppers got the city to settle in just one afternoon.

Zero trafic tollerence. Take double the time for reports. Ping pong balls to the gas tanks. We will have to make it a mess and a total mess before the city will take us seriously.

Forget the FOP. They are useless. We stand strong if we stand BLUE! Grab a hold and strangle.

Cop Accused of Using Taser on His Partner

By Associated Press
Published December 8, 2005, 5:01 AM CST

HAMTRAMCK, Mich. -- A police officer has been charged with using a Taser on his partner during an argument over whether they should stop for a soft drink.

Ronald Dupuis, 32, was charged Wednesday with assault and could face up to three months in jail if convicted. The six-year veteran was fired after the Nov. 3 incident.

Dupuis and partner Prema Graham began arguing after Dupuis demanded she stop their car at a store so he could buy a soft drink, according to a police report.

The two then struggled over the steering wheel, and Dupuis hit her leg with his department-issued Taser, the report said. She was not seriously hurt.

Hamtramck police union lawyer Eugene Bolanowski said he expected Dupuis to hire a private lawyer.

Hamtramck is about 6 miles north of Detroit.

For a change no one had started in on TRU or 016, about half the posters had something to contribute besides anger, and then comes some goof with his Flavor Fav moment. Read through these threads. The police seem to hate each other more than the citizens allegedly hate them.

Blu-flu, ticket slow downs...c'mon! That shit won't work in this City cause we can't even agree what to have for lunch without an argumnent! Acts of sabotage have a nice, poetic ring to them, but reality is that you need to find something that will actually WORK!

When I came on the job 15+ years ago my FTO drilled into me the importance of writing 5 parkers and a mover a night. Coppers now do not have the same work ethic that it takes to keep to that regiment. "why do it for the boss?" "it only goes to King Richie" "I don't do tickets" "There is no place to park at traffic court" I've heard them all. Keep this in mind kids, if you don't want to write tickets then don't. But don't complain when "King Richie" takes all of your ticket books back and hires about 2-3000 civilian "traffic enforcement officers". Good you say? Not when it means less Police Officers out there. Remember civilians don't respons to your 10-1. Daley is slowly privatizing the CPD and we are welcomming it for some strange reason. Civilian traffic enforcement aids, civilian meter maids, civilian security guards (aka Marquete Security Corp) being assigned to jobs in 008. Whats next? Civilian Domestic Violence Officers? Civilian Traffic Crash Investigators? Take away all of those jobs and there isn't much left for a sworn Police Officers to do except arrest situations. We used to be the only game in town folks. Thanks to King Richie (with the tacit approval of FOP) we aren't anymore. 13,000 10,000 9,000 8,000 whatever our numbers are now they are sure to keep decreasing unless we show them that it is our job and we won't let some civilian take it away.

you know whats funny the bosses checking those ticket books are the same ones that did absolutely nothing when they were patrolman. why do sgts who did nothing as patrolman suddenly get religion when they get made.

all you have to do is listen to a zone and listen to bosses making stops then having to call coppers over to write the ticket. I say supervisors who want to make work for patrolman should have to sign out a book of movers and if you want to stop cars then you can write them yourselves.

zone 12 is littered with do nothing bosses that want to make work for other people. live and let live and stop making work for other people.

i agree with the poster that dogs need to be put on notice to work but why should a boss who was known as a dog throw his reformed work ethic on someone who is only doing what he did when he was a patrolman.

bosses need to be seen once in a while and not heard much. thats what a good boss does. be there when needed and not complicate things.

i am sure everyone who reads this site knows a guy or gal who once was a blue shirt and did nothing now they are a sgt and they want to save the world.

If that's the truth, which I highly doubt, there's a glitch in system. P.O.s not supposed to have access to that... That's all we ask for Boss. If more of these bosses were professional instead of political then the work would get done, and then some.

Hey Skipper, I'm a two year wonder on my second mover book! With 186 arrest as of this post. About 43 are felonies, all of that with bouncing around cars, wagon, lock up, desk, watches. Done with some people whom are 8-20 year wonders who can't stand working with 2 year wonders who want to work. Oh, I'm sorry about that, I forgot I'm a rookie, I'll try harder to get some movers and parkers and dumb down the arrest. (please share with us, your stats from your first two years) -your little buddy

One baggers don't count, so that brings your felony pinches down to about five. Nice gloves.

43 felony arrests in 2 years, and you are a "worker"? a worker will get 45 felony arrests in 60 days. go back to 025, and get the rest of your civ clothes embroidered with the cpd logo.

OK, now subtract the dope pinches and how many felony arrests do you have? 4 or 5 LOL

You, sir are a rookie and the number of arrests you make doesn't make you a cop or the real police.
It's knowing when to shut your mouth and learn something from your older officers and stop thinking you are the shit. I can't believe you actually count your arrests. LOSER. Get a life. Know when you will be the "real police"? When you finally stop talking about how great you think you are and actually have the experience. "real" police officers don't have to run around telling everyone they know what a great cop they are, they just are.

(please share with us, your stats from your first two years) -your little buddy

Little Buddy, please break it down for us. Once you take away the dope, I bet you aren't all that.

P.S. Working on the West Side where arrests practically jump into your car doesn't exactly make you the police either.

How do we disrupt the City?

Know your General Orders and follow every fucking one of them to the "T". Do everything completely and totally legit and you will slow this town down to a crawl.

The City knows we take shortcuts and, and the want us to to make things go smoother. And we accept it. They plan on it. And when it causes shit, they cut us loose. Stop cars all night. Stop lots of white people and give them tickets. Take all the time you need to fill out the contact information on the traffic stop cards.

If we did things the way the City SAYS we should (though they don't mean it) we would shut this place down.

#1. Never confuse activity with work.= stand around the desk, car to car, bitchin about the job, city, rookies, females, minorites, bosses, fop, last nights blog on SCC. and that 2yr asshole.
#2.You, sir are a rookie and the number of arrests you make doesn't make you a cop or the real police.=By the way, it did state the blogger was a rookie, Your right! the number of arrest has absolutely nothing to do with real police. never has, never will....?!@#!. and remember, don't violate #1(see above).
#3.It's knowing when to shut your mouth and learn something from your older officers and stop thinking you are the shit. = rookie you are a piece of shit! and keep you mouth and opinions to you self, or your gonna ruin a good thing. Why let's even get rid of this blogspot, you don't need a voice. And don't violate #1 & #2.
#4.Do us a favor, answer your jobs and quit sticking your jobs on other beats because you are out trying to get you numbers up.=Can't you see I'm busy talkin trash about you and I don't have time for your jobs, let alone answering my own.
#5.Know when you will be the "real police"? When you finally stop talking about how great you think you are and actually have the experience. "real" police officers don't have to run around telling everyone they know what a great cop they are,= You just have to cut down a new officer with two years on, who is exicted about his work and was trying defend themsevles in rebuttle to a blog, now your real.
#6.TWO YEAR TOOL!, Fucking spank., get bent.,=I remember when I was new to this job and enjoyed it.

It's no wonder this department is in chaos.

Finally, I would like to say I’m sure I could go on for hours but its sad when you go to the FOP meeting and only see 100 people out of 13,000 PO’s. Shame on the FOP and shame on the members for not making the FOP work for you. I will say the FOP intentions may be good but the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

12/08/2005 01:11:29 PM

If you want to know an officers activity ask the citation clerk for his/her activity...if you want the officers to know you are monitoring their activity (or lack of) ask them to see their books. I heard a 2 year wonder bragging the other day at the desk about only being 1/2 way through his 2nd mover book since he came on the job. Said "he doesn't do tickets" Other than adjusting all of the gadgets on his gun belt I don't see him (or alot of other coppers) doing much else

12/08/2005 03:21:20 PM

-----------

This is an odd time in the Dept. There was a lot of hiring post '68 convention and these guys' kids are coming on now. There is lots of expections. Their daddy did cool shit, so they have to also. How many PO's are there? How many on special units?

Writing tickets and hard work MEAN NOTHING!!! You could work your balls off, give some Capt. exactly what's he want's but he'll still have to give the cush to his old partner's kid or whatever. Just keep workng.

CPD = Chicago Patronage Department. You think this is about law enforcement???

12/09/2005 11:49:00 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

then don't. Take away all of those jobs and there isn't much left for

---------------------

Dont be a fool. This is happening across the country IN EVER FIELD. Not just L.E. It's called OUTSOURCING! Wait till your PC breaks and you call teh 1-800 #. You get some Hindu talking jibberish to you from New Delhi!

Your cush govt job is NOT guarenteed!

You will not have it better than your parents!

You are not special and can be cut for cheepper!

Anyone who actually came on the job that worked a differnt career know this. If you came on at 23 with a 4 yr degree and daddy was a Sgt you won't.

You may not have a pension when you retire!

You are correct, sir.
Probably too many dog ases on the job to make it work, but I would love to see it tried.
Just imagine what would happen if, on a shots fired (normally a code when no dammage/injury is reported), the copper did his investigation, pulled an RD# (yes there is one for discharging a firearm in city), found a casing, protected the crime scene for the e.t. to collect it, then started the canvas (canvas worksheet required - crime involving a firearm) of a one block radius, then into the station for notifications and to drop the paper. Don't forget to do contact cards on everyone you interviewed.
This would be great in the summer.
(bring a water bottle).

P.S. - Squad, we don't care if there is a back log. They happen. It's not your fault. Stop taking them personally.
If the city cares, then maybe they should be realistic in how they pull po's out of districts (no radio call units), or maybe they should rethink shutting down the academy for the summer (aka unofficial hiring freeze) like they did this year.
