Here's the Sun Times story
on the massive police presence in Englewood. SOS, TRU, Closed Market, Area Gang Teams, District Gang/Tact Teams and more are all flooding the 007th District. And here's Channel 7's take
on the whole thing:
Teenagers we met Friday afternoon say they keep moving and don't loiter on Englewood streets during the police crackdown.
"When they grab you, they going to talk all types of ways," said one.
For years, many Englewood homeowners have demanded an increased police presence in the neighborhood. But 64-year-old Richard Dunn is having second thoughts after an encounter he says he had with a policeman last week.
"He stuck a gun up my nose," Dunn said.
One wonders how long Channel 7 had to hang around to find the one 64 year old citizen who had something bad to say about the police. But not to worry:
- Dunn says he did not file a complaint with the Chicago Police Department following the alleged incident.
Because maybe it was bullshit? Say what you will about the Department, but just about everyone being deployed to 007 knows that they are under a microscope. No one with an ounce of sense is going to be sticking a gun in a 64 year old man nose.
