Here Comes the Complaining

Here's the Sun Times story on the massive police presence in Englewood. SOS, TRU, Closed Market, Area Gang Teams, District Gang/Tact Teams and more are all flooding the 007th District. And here's Channel 7's take on the whole thing:
  • Teenagers we met Friday afternoon say they keep moving and don't loiter on Englewood streets during the police crackdown.

"When they grab you, they going to talk all types of ways," said one.

For years, many Englewood homeowners have demanded an increased police presence in the neighborhood. But 64-year-old Richard Dunn is having second thoughts after an encounter he says he had with a policeman last week.

"He stuck a gun up my nose," Dunn said.

One wonders how long Channel 7 had to hang around to find the one 64 year old citizen who had something bad to say about the police. But not to worry:
  • Dunn says he did not file a complaint with the Chicago Police Department following the alleged incident.
Because maybe it was bullshit? Say what you will about the Department, but just about everyone being deployed to 007 knows that they are under a microscope. No one with an ounce of sense is going to be sticking a gun in a 64 year old man nose.

I didn't believe that bullshit for a second. Maybe if the investigative I-team unit for channel 7 had gone a few blocks off the hot corners of engelweird with their cameras, they would have caught some good footage of actual drug-dealing and gang banging going on? Maybe even captured a shooting or something?

Give me a break. I'm a civilian and have seen some unique gene pool in Englewood.

A few weeks ago I took a CTA bus accidentally heading south on Halsted (when I wanted to go North).

Aside from the fact the area looked like a bomb hit it, strange, strange people on that bus route. Plenty flying higher than a kite.

God bless anyone working in that area.

And the news should be writing the real story. I could have written a better and real (unbiased) story. That's what real journalism is all about. Taking a look at the problem and reporting the real deal. Not randomly selecting a party to put the blame on.

There is enough police presence out there!! Even I know that.

The problem is this: aside from the people needing to get off of crack, etc. the people who live there need to take a stand against gangs and other crime related problems by taking action.

There are plenty of anonymous telephone numbers or other ways to contact the police in order to get rid of the problem in your neighborhood. The police cannot do everything.

Besides, I do see the police were just in there busting about 108 people in drug related gang activity.

Stop the bitching and do something to help the police in order to clean up your neighborhood.

Dear Citizens reading this blog.......over HALF of your police department does not work in patrol. Because this is the City of Chicago they need to hide all their favorite sons and daughter in "special places". Yes, that's right, there are literally thousands of police officers on the payroll that don't have to do the job that they signed up for! This department has more armed clerks than it does police officers. So when you feel that their are not enough police in your neighborhood, fell happy inside that the building on 35th. has a multitude of men and women that put in 5-6 hour days. Also this department is so top heavy with high paid command staff get over paid that you would be astounded. Investigate that my fine citizens.

Sergeants Test-Part 1. 114 multiple choice questions with only three choices. Not one question regarding sergeant responsibilties at a police shooting, or other critcal incidents. And we know why. Few from traditional under-performing groups, read black and Hispanic-will not be able to get above seventy-percent right, even on the most ridiculously easy test. Sorry, its not my fault you lack aptitude. But the idiot from Bridgeport has devised an equalizer known as meritorious promotion. So now you're a Chicago Police Sergeant, or Lieutenant, or Captain. Outside of the city people don't need to see chevrons or bars to see exactly what you really are.

What else would you expect from the media. They are overwhelmingly liberal, just another branch of the democratic party. The police,on the whole, are a conservative lot , the press just naturally hates us. Just remember that the media doesn't report the news anymore, they try to create it because they want to change the world to fit their liberal agenda. Do you ever notice any positive stories about the war on terror from the mainstream media? Notice the decline in newspaper sales and the death spiral of the big three news networks . The people have grown tired of being force-fed the liberal's view. The internet has knocked out the mainstream media, lets hope it can drive a stake through its heartbefore Hillary gets her hands on it.

A Chicago man dies and goes to hell.

When he gets there, the devil comes over to welcome him. The devil then says "sometimes it gets pretty uncomfortable down here."

The man says, "No problem. I'm from Chicago."

So the devil goes over to the thermostat, turns the temperature up to 100, and the humidity up to 80. He then goes back to the Chicago man to see how he's doing. To the devil's surprise, the man is doing just fine.

"No problem...just like Chicago in June," the man says.

So the devil goes back over to the thermostat, and turns the temperature up to 150, and the humidity up to 90. He then goes back over to see how the Chicago man is doing.

The man is sweating a little, but overall looks comfortable.
"No problem. Just like Chicago in July," the man says.

So now the devil goes over to the thermostat, turns the temperature up to 200, and the humidity up to 100. When he goes back to see how the man is doing, the man is sweating profusely, and has taken his shirt off. Otherwise, he seems OK.

He says, "no problem. Just like Chicago in August."

Now the devil is really perplexed. So he goes back to the thermostat, and turns the temperature down to MINUS 150 DEGREES. Immediately, all the humidity in the air freezes up, and the whole place (meaning Hell) becomes a frigid, barren, frozen, deathly cold wasteland.

When he goes back now to see how the Chicago man is doing, he is shocked to discover the man is jumping up and down, and cheering in obvious delight. The devil immediately asks the man what's going on.
To which the Chicago man replies.....

As they pass the squad they fire several shots at the police missing them.Bad guys then crash, foot chase results in 2 arrests and they recover a weapon and VEST. Return to the scene and find a guy DOA on the sidewalk--shot at least 10 times.Great job 010 !!!!

What we set into place yrs. ago being union. Collectively, we have to get tight. We are not aligned the city knows this, they set the game plan and rules. We have alot of division among us, why?

SCC that is a good point, we know the city has been after the medical days for years. This issue regarding medical was won through arbitration. I understand there was a lawsuit originally, have not been able to find it are you familiar with it?

We also know about the city and their merit or management percentage. if their numbers run point anything they get to round up. This gives them an added percentage point. Yet the city still wants more.

Then, how you can you not get involved in this matter?

Maybe someone is afraid of losing donations if they get involved.

The Chicago Police Memorial Foundation is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to honoring the lives and memories of our fallen heroes. The Foundation provides support and assistance to the families of Chicago Police Officers who sacrificed their lives.

Established in 2004, the Foundation -------->strengthens the relationship between the Chicago Police, its business and civic leaders, and its citizenry. It allows us to express our gratitude to the fallen Officers families for the ultimate sacrifice of their loved one.<-----

More then 460 Chicago Police Officers have given their lives to protect the people of Chicago. These brave men and women were more than just Police Officers. They were parents, spouses, and children. They were your neighbors, your friends, and your protectors, and each served with loyalty to this city and to you, its citizens. Each one of them went to work on their fateful day knowing the risks that came when they decided to dedicate their life to protect all of us.

HEY! How about this, Go to St. Jude Parade but get sick on July 3-4.
Maybe have a tummy ache?
Screw the citys fireworks display.

Back to school parade, I think not, better go back to your Doctor, you may be having a relapse of that July stomach flu.

I think 2006 will see a lot of BLUE FLU.

Special Events coming up, I don't feel so good boss.

Let them send a medical check on you as often as they want.

By our contract, you still get medical days off.

And as long as you follow the procedure and call your unit when you leave your home, you can go to the drug store, your doctor, a medical facility of your choosing, and you can go to the store to buy food and or go to a restaurant to eat your meals if you prefer not to cook your own.

You are not a prisoner of your home if you are on the medical, but you must call in and tell them when you leave.

Our union leaders cannot tell you to do this. We have no strike options.

But look out for that bird flu, who knows what effects it may have on your system.

One more thing, let's be safe out there. If your car, computer, radio, etc. is not right, don't use it. Don't work alone at night, they cannot force you to work alone, it's a safety issue.

We did these things in the '70's and we can do them again if necessary.

Keep your health in mind, because the city and the boss's won't!

Well, you TRU people like to work in a unit that looks prestigious and makes you feel important, so there you are, stuck in the ghetto. At least you get to gather in groups of 20+ and enjoy your two hour lunches at Portillos in Summit 2 or 3 times a week.

Yes, your right Capt. Farrell is the best along with Capt. Kenny. We (working Po-Po) need good bosses like them. They are unselfish, worrying about the Po-Po. Now when the area four gang Lt. gets promoted, watch out. He is all about patting himself on the back surpirsed that his arm is not broken....and his little mouse (PJ) that's in his front pocket. He's anotherone. WE NEED GOOD BOSSES !!!! HELP
