- A big show of support Monday for a Democratic state senator who is considering a bid for Illinois governor. James Meeks met with more than a dozen of Chicago's African-American aldermen. The aldermen say they would support Meeks if he ran for governor as an independent.
- Meeks met with 14 of Chicago's 19 black aldermen Monday morning, and the result of that meeting exposed what could become a huge crack in the Democratic party's foundation.
If we were Republican (which we are) and we ran the state party (which we don't - yet), we would be offering Meeks' people all sorts of help on the sly, from cash to whatever he needed to run. Because Meeks running would almost guarantee a Republican win in November. Meeks is running on a platform of higher taxes - that's right, he wants to RAISE your taxes. So right away, he alienates about 80% of the voters and ALL of the Republicans. He also takes away the largest source of uncontested votes for Blago. Combined with the liberals who will swallow Meeks' "higher taxes for education" crap, it all adds up to a big win for Judy and Joe. Meeks isn't Harold in this equation - Meeks is Richie Daley.

You should see the crap CPD is hiring these days. Was at the academy for in-service and all I can say is brutal. Some of these women look like they are 15 years old with the bodies to match. Thank god its almost over for me, I wont have to work for these future bosses. Some good sized recruits, but the majority of them looked like they were plucked right from the high school chess team.
