Where did we pat ourselves on the back? By saying we did good on the test? Puh-lease. How about instead of taking us to task, you take our compatriots (and the trolls that skate in) to task for the crap they post here? We check the site a couple times a day and clean it up when we get here, but it runs unmanned 22 hours a day MINIMUM. We've got better things to do than monitor what adults type on a computer 24/7 - play with the rug rats, study for part two of the test, kill brain cells with alcohol, photoshop a new picture, etc.
If you go back to our very first posts, this is a HOBBY for us. We aren't pouring our hearts and souls into it. We have a life outside of blogging and being the police. We made a conscious decision to post ONE worthwhile thread a day. Go through our archives and some days, we've posted 3 or 4; some other days, maybe a single half-assed post. But we'll bet we're averaging slightly above the one we said we would.
We've said it before and we'll say it again. We understand the allure of the "bathroom wall" mentality here. We count on it in a way in that we can tell stories that might otherwise never get told. Part of the trade off is the bullshit that you read in the stalls. We clean it up as we're able but we aren't sweating it. And when we run through with our broom every so often, we take out what irritates us - our site, our rules. You don't like it, go elsewhere.
Our only other options involve (A) registered users and (B) fully moderated comments. We hate choice A because it means there is a list in existence. A list is subject to subpoena. A list is traceable. We don't like lists. Choice B has it's allure, BUT it involves a bit of work for us and a LOT of patience for our readers. In a nutshell, we'd get to screen EVERY SINGLE COMMENT before it gets posted. But since we only can get to the blog twice a day, that means all of your insightful commentary sits around for 8 to 12 hours in an e-mail box until we screen it then post it. No more give and take. No more breaking news out of 35th Street. No more of what makes the board a good read. So we use what we have here and deal with it as we can.
If you're the ass who keeps posting the slander, libel and other crap, thanks for nothing. Coppers can always manage to ruin a good thing for other cops. SCCN went away for this reason and the owner of NYPD Rant lost his job for a while over similar shit. Hope you aren't doing it from Department computers (many of which have keylogger programs running) because they will fire you for it. All they have to do is prove you were on the computer at the time stuff was posted - hell, your IP addresses are logged on our SiteMeter. We on the other hand, have a measure of protection as we are doing this off duty, in our spare time and from our own computer. We have a number of legal opinions in our possession should it ever come to a defense so we sleep easy at night.

I was free for an hour and a half because during that time the repressive forces couldn't put their hand on me because we were shooting it out with them for an hour and a half. Three police officers got wounded. None of them got killed; I got wounded. Another Panther got wounded."

(including Bobby Seale and Erika Huggins) and charged with murder of NYC BPP member Alex Rackley, who was allegedly 'tried' in kangaroo court of informing on the Panthers, and tortured. Rackley's body was found in Coginchaug River. Six of the suspects were seized at the New Haven Panther headquarters; police uncover tape recordings of trial and several weapons in making arrests.
· June 21, 1969 - Panther William Brent hijacks plane to Cuba.
We find it interesting that many of our City Leaders want to honor Black Panther, Fred Hampton Sr.
Moreso, especially when we did extensive research into the Black Panther history. We actually went into the research with an open mind. In fact, we’re currently in the process of collecting interviews from former Black Panthers, gang affiliations with the Black Panthers, audio/video files, etc.
Our first question is, why did Fred Hampton Jr. ask Alderman Haithcock to enact this ordinance? Why her? Did he reside in her Ward?
We know where he has and is residing: the Joliet prison.
Wasn’t he indicted and sentenced to 18 years in prison for purportedly throwing Molotov cocktails into two Korean-owned businesses in of all places, ENGLEWOOD?!
Which is interesting. Because at the time, he was also President of NPDUM. In St. Petersburg, Florida, there was a riot in 1996. There are rumors circulating that the NPDUM was involved in that horrific riot that destroyed local African-American businesses and residents homes. It was so sad, because their insurance policies didn’t cover riots, etc.
We also wondered about the timing of this and have reason to believe it’s politically charged to evoke votes. Perhaps for a Senator Rush? Is this true?
We ask the City of Chicago why they would want to honor someone involved with such a violent group. If you actually investigate the Black Panthers, you would be alarmed as we were.
Aren’t we all in positions of leadership, where we need to be responsible on behalf of our community? To pick a POSITIVE role model FOR OUR CITY?
We would like to know which Aldermen are going to vote YES for this sign, and which ones are not. Because our next step is to find out the real reason why people are voting yes to this matter when our research shows a very violent group. In fact, we have asked certain people to launch a special investigation into this matter.
This letter is on behalf of our National Police Memorial and our community. STOP THE VIOLENCE AND HONORING VIOLENT GROUPS.

I honestly did go into it open minded, because, had I not, would have looked like a complete uneducated and ignorant moron making an angry statement.
So I went in open minded and an ignorant person who absolutely hated history class, plus the fact I was born during the year Hampton died.
What I found, reliable sources, even from libraries, floored me. It actually embarassed me.

Seems the sec. on Englewood history does not mention Hampton but references 1890's. Looks like their rewriting history themselves. Now how does that sign fit in again?

Officer George Neil died four days after being beaten and then shot with his own weapon.
The men, suspected to be part of an Irish club devoted to attacking blacks, were ordering the victim off his stool at the Back of the Yards diner at 5435 S. Halsted. Officer Neil stepped forward, dressed in civilian clothes, and identified himself as a police officer. Officer Neil lived in nearby all-white Bridgeport. He told the victim that he didn't have to move.
One man threw a stool at Neil while the others beat him. As Neil tried to fend off his attackers, one grabbed his gun and shot him twice in the stomach. They fled in a car.
Neil died four days after the attack. The killers were never convicted.

I remember an old timer (now deceased) telling me about the night he arrested bobby rush(late 60's-early 70's). He said they were trying to pull over a car with m/b's and evidently the one in the front passenger seat had a bag of pot on him and started emptying it out the window. The only problem was that most of it blew back into the car and into the big fro of the future congressman dogass who was in the backseat of the car.
