Someone went and instituted Registered Comments. Who could that have been?
Listen up knucklehead. Congratulations. You've driven us to do something we said we hated doing because it was too much work for us and our readers. You must be so proud. You are upholding the fine tradition of ruining what could be a good thing for other coppers. Bravo.
As to content, this isn't a democracy. This isn't even communist rule. This blog is a dictatorship. We run it, jokes about Seiser be damned. If we find it annoying, we delete it. If we find it offensive, we eliminate it. If we find it even remotely objectionable, we kill it. And if we get e-mails from people wanting certain stuff deleted, we try to accommodate the requests within OUR rules. On this blog, WE ARE SEISER. Fair game is what we say it is. You want to engage in masturbatory fantasies about Area 2, certain bosses sexual proclivities and the oral abilities of certain policemen and women, have at it - ON YOUR OWN BLOG. Stop polluting our atmosphere.
Days like this make us wonder whether it's even worth continuing the blog.

1st and it's a dark day for SCC and the blog...
We had to do the same thing. Only someone still threatened one of our Assistants. Turns out the perosn he threatened is a US Marshal.
We never heard from him again.
As the night follows the day and, the sun rises in the east - you can be assured that coppers always find a way to ruin a good thing.
Now that this Blog has gone "black", it made me think of a trivial incident that occurred a week ago. It reflects just how the 2% of us that don't give a rat's ass about anything but themselves, can sometimes make it miserable for the rest of us. And the 2% don't even realize it.
There is only one White Hen pantry in my district. The only thing they comp us on is coffee and soup. They happen to have some of the best soup I've ever had. They offer chicken noodle, Italian wedding soup, a chili and, either a beef barley or beef stew as their daily selection. I make sure to go there no more than twice a week but there are times when I won't go there for months.
So the other day I went there to get a 12oz cup of soup. I'm standing there when the cashier walks up and starts restocking the coffee display nearby. I mention that I love their soup and she says that many people come for the soup.
"In fact," she says, "there is an officer who comes in here everyday and has our soup."
"Oh yea?"
"He stands here and has a 16oz bowl of each one of our soups. He has 4 bowls - everyday."
I was aghast but not surprised. Some more details were needed.
"Is he a copper from Oak Park or Elmwood Park?" I ask. I hoped against hope that, at least, it'd be a suburban department.
"No - a Chicago guy."
That White Hen still offers on-duty CPD the free soup but, for how long? How often do the self indulgent, the greedy and the rude do things that reflect poorly, not only on themselves, but on all of us who wear the uniform proudly?
You're probably thinking that this post is niggling, petty and inconsequential. What does some pissant soup-slopper have to do with this blog? Nothing, and yet - everything. I was going to just file this incident away and probably never even discuss it, let alone blog it. But today's events made me reassess and I felt it needed to be brought up.
Instances like this are legion - just ask any veteran copper. But no matter how many times our moderator reminded us to knock off the abusive language and ignorant non-sense, nobody listened.
So here we are, one less avenue of communication. One less open forum. The shades of the prisonhouse begin to close in around the young man....and it's a sad day in Mudville.
Damn! It means O'Grady is going to be posting here more often!

What happened? I thought YOU did it on your own initiative to screen out morons. Your introduction indicates someone other than SCC did it. How?
There is an eMail petition circulating, purportedly from the family of John Gilhooly. It appears authentic.
I forwarded copies of this to the widow of Frank Rappaport, Supt. Cline, SCC and 127 other individuals and organizations.

And now... for the drum roll.
Why would one who supposedly went AWOL from the military, want to even be a member of the government:
Current U.S. Representative Bobby Rush, a Democrat from Illinois, served in the army through the mid-1960s, becoming progressively more involved with radical antiwar groups. In 1968, after Martin Luther King's assassination, he went AWOL from his unit to help found the Illinois chapter of the Black Panthers. Weeks later, he was honorably discharged.
Furthermore, if you go to the FBI website and punch in Black Panthers in the search engine, there are Freedom of Information documents on there that are worth the heavy reading. Also has the Fred Hampton investigation documents on there. FBI documents state Bobby Rush refused to let anyone in after the shooting.
In addition, FBI were watching Hampton SR because he wanted to be the International head of the BPP.
This entire thing has disgusted me and I have to ask voters: WHY VOTE FOR RUSH???????

thanks for the email. Looks like it's just an email out to many telling us to email all the aldermen (with email addresses included) to protest the sign. No true petition.
tomorrow i will set up an online petition and then email you and post it here as well. But I need to read more on it before I do it and how I will put it together in a tasteful yet strong manner.
The Officer Down Memorial suggested the same place I found to host an online petition drive. I just need to check it out more as I've never done anything like this.
btw: Obama never responded to us but I hear he's in TN to promote his book. LOL
If you give me the address of the White Hen, I'll get some photos that will make sure the behavior ends. After all, if he goes there every day, it'll be easy to find him on a regular basis.
That would be a pretty funny blog. "Officer Soupy No-Sales." I could collect a couple of weeks of free-soup pictures before we tip him off to the pictures of him that are posted on the Internet.
