Burge Report Delayed Again

Some people must really REALLY not want this report to see the light of day. Former Superintendent Richard Brzeczek is getting into the act, according to one report:
  • Brzeczek wrote to then-State's Attorney Richard M. Daley, seeking his direction on proceeding with an investigation. "I will forbear from taking any steps until I hear from you," Brzeczek said. Daley never wrote, never called.
And according to another report:
  • While the name of the former prosecutor who filed the appeal with the Supreme Court was kept under seal, attorney Flynt Taylor of the Peoples Law Office, which has battled the police in court for decades, told reporters he believed he knew the attorney's name. He said the attorney volunteered in a conversation with him that he had taken the Fifth Amendment before a grand jury when asked about the alleged police torture of 1982 murder suspect Andrew Wilson.
This could get very interesting very quickly. We object to releasing the report simply on the grounds that anything the "people's law office" supports is automatically bad for the Department, and Andrew Wilson should have been executed years ago. But prosecutors taking the Fifth before grand juries is never good. This could bring down some big names.

We need more men like John Burge on this job. Real cops who know how to get the job done the way it is supposed to be. God bless John.

My brother was a recruit. Rich Austin got him fired because he wrote him a DUI. Everyone, even the Watch Commander asked him to not do it. He told them that no one could tell him how to do his job. My brother got fired because of this puke. He did not give him a hard time or anything. He was polite as hell and he gets shafted by this psych job who was never the real police and never wanted to be.

C'mon, SCC, please start deleting irrelevant posts. Your credibility is starting to suffer.

The Burge report should not be released because it would clearly violate the confidentiality of the grand jury process. Frankly, Burge was a goof.

I'm all for sticking together, watching each others backs, doing whatever we can too help out another copper, professional courtesy, etc., etc., but this question of DUI'ng coppers kid's is starting to get to me.
I while back I met a coppers kid at a party who as soon as he found out I was a copper, just had to tell me how he was DUI'd by a Chicago Police Officer. All he did was rag on this copper, what a J/O he was for writing him, what POS he was, yada, yada, yada. As the night wore on, I watched this kid consume vast amounts of beer until he could barely standup. When it was time to go home, his friends insisted that he not drive, that they drive him home. He resisted almost becoming physically violent until of them just took his keys, stuffed him in the car and took him home. I've seen this same scene played out a couple more times with the same guy during the last couple of years. He's a nice enough kid when he's sober but get him near some beer and look out. He's obviously got a drinking problem but the only thing he thinks is wrong is that the copper DUI'd him. So while I agree with not writing coppers or our families tickets for minor violations, that rule does not apply to drunk drivers. It's only a matter of time before he kills somebody and then he will probably blame the other driver.
Sooooo, I say fuck these kids that think they can go out, get drunk and then drive home just because daddies a copper or his brother's a copper. It's a big difference between gliding through a stop sign on a side street or doing 55 in a 45 on LSD and driving drunk.
Austin and those like him may be jagoffs, but you should be getting your brother some help, not beefin about some copper that may have saved your brothers life or the life of another because your brother thinks that it's OK to drive drunk because he's related to you or is a recruit. No offense but fuck him.

Big names? How about most of the bosses at Corp. Counsel's Office! Look at their roster of incompetent mouthpieces and you'll see that a majority of the bosses there are former ASA's under Daley. Then again, Devine and company were working for him as well.
