The Truth Revealed

Back in the late 1990's and early 00's, South Africa established a "Truth and Reconciliation Commission" that addressed what had happened under the decades of apartheid. Part of their mission statement was "... a commission is a necessary exercise to enable South Africans to come to terms with their past on a morally accepted basis and to advance the cause of reconciliation." Those who came forward of their own volition were almost universally guaranteed no punishment, no loss of job, no denial of pension. They were simply required to answer all questions put to them - to tell the Truth - in order to bring closure to the era of apartheid.

One of our regular contributors has proposed the same thing for Chicago and we for one are hoping Patrick Fitzgerald takes up this one: You can keep your job, keep your pension, and won't face dismissal (unless you have committed a felony) if you come forward and tell the Truth, the whole Truth and nothing but the Truth to the people of Chicago. Via the newspapers; via the Feds; via SecondCityCop.Blogspot.com; WE DON'T CARE! And if you won't reveal the truth, we'll do it for you. We had a thread up months ago labeled "Who made Who? Who Made You?" Consider this Part II.
