Real Nice Fran
It's amazing. Yes, the SOS guys getting busted is a big story. It's a black eye for the Department. It's all over the news.
But did Fran Spielman really have to drag this crap into the story on Eric Solorio?
But did Fran Spielman really have to drag this crap into the story on Eric Solorio?
The timing was purely coincidental. But the contrast could not have been more stark.
On the day that four Chicago Police officers assigned to an elite unit were arrested for allegedly raiding homes and stealing valuables, the Police Department paid the ultimate tribute to a fallen colleague from another choice group who epitomized all that is good about policing.
Couldn't she just concentrate on the sacrifice of Officer Solorio and the good he accomplished in his too short life without dragging in what is going to be a big story for the next few days? We are all aware of the contrast Fran. We really don't need it waved in our faces.

You think the city coincided the SOS arrests on the same day as the star retirement ceremony and terrorist drill downtown? You think they were hoping to drown it out a little in the news?? Nah!
It was great to see Mrs. Solorio come out. She's a terrific person.
Kudos to Supt. Cline for having class in lieu of other events.
This poem is for Officer Solorio and his partner...

To SCC,
Regardless the timing, I think the story of our fallen brother, no matter how stark, helped to be a reminder to that those doing wrong are but a mere fraction of our department, and that we as police officers sacrifice much, including our lives, when it comes to our profession. Unfortunately, that is our reality, and I am glad that it was put out there for all to see, both the good and the bad. We may not like how its put out (by the media outlets, the rumorvilles) but it's what it is. Let everyone come to their own conclusion as to how things are said, when their said, in what context. In the end, all that matters is that the truth be recognized.
Politics 101, the media has a working relationship with the 5th floor at both buildings (City Hall & 35th St.) the 5th flr. had been so advise on when the story was coming out. Daley is running for re-election, make no mistake about it, this was perfect to dilute the story about the officers in SOS. the disaster drill and PO Solorio ceremony. My hats off to Cline for keeping the integrity of this dept.

And you are????
I think her juxtaposition of the two issues was extremely appropriate if unwitting. It is impossible to measure the damage done to the reputation of our profession by the fucking assholes in SOS. The sacrifice made by Solorio and the Officers before him are lessened in the public's eyes with each indictment. If you are an officer, you should not only feel embarrassed that there are officers on this job that would attempt anything like they are accused of in this day in age, but enraged at those same officers who felt it necessary to piss on every sacrifice or effort ever made by another officer. SCC, I know you are being fair, but let's be honest. If the G has indicted you, innocent until proven guilty you are not. We all know these guys won't so much as handcuff anyone until their case is so water tight there is no room to wriggle. They are guilty. Fuck them and fuck anyone who even thinks about having a benefit for them.
While there are "bad" cops out there, the Area 2 gun team has proven once again that they are the "good" cops by getting a total of 65 weapons from a search warrant on a Chicago fireman last night. Congrats Area 2 Gun team!!!!

Either you're being sarcastic or you're fucking crazy. I couldn't look at myself in the mirror after such a bullshit "seizure". I equate the Area 2 nonsense with one rock arrests.
But for his poor marksmanship, Wilmette should have awarded Hale DeMars a medal and a key to the village.
EMBARRASSMENT; The Area 2 gun team grabbed a fireman's gun collection and seized his collection. WOW, what good police work!. Now we are a lil safer from firemen!
God but it must really be embarrassing to belong to that outfit of sandbaggers. The only thing worse would be being a member of the laughalbe Civil Rts. Unit where they actually go out an create crime so they can keep their take home cars.
Never see any of these guys at 26th street but then thats where the real Police hang out.
Hey fuckhead, the "G" didn't indict anyone. If you are going to post, know what you are talking about. I know a copper that was indicted by the "G", as you say, who was on the medical. Go fuck yourself asshole!
from a fireman??? gee,,how about disarming a gangbanger!
Always remember the St. Jude Parade!
And always remember that it is on the First Sunday of May.
See you there!
(We won't see Richie there.)
Many of Quigley Alumni, Officer's Solorio's friends', will honor him in Nov. Members of the Emerald Society as well as many of his fellow seminary classmates will be present.
One thing that always gets me about the Slum-Times, is the way they display photos. I haven't seen much of them since I let my subscrtption lapse, and this is one of the reasons why.
The S-T very often displays a photo of a cop, a good citizen or a victim right along side that of a bad guy. They are same size, side by side so that you are not often sure who is who.
Anyone who works in graphic arts will tell you that gives both of them equal status. Which is one of the things wrong with the S-T anyway.
Ever notice how Sen. Obama is ALWAYS photographed from a low angle? It make him look more imposing i suppose but all in all he's just another run of the mill machine chicago liberal.

First of all, calm down and take a deep breath. Secondly, you are correct. They were not indicted by the federal government. However, the feds were heavily involved in the investigation which was what my point was all about. Now please, count to ten.......Good, now take a deep breath.....good, NOW INSTEAD OF BEING PISSED OFF AT MINUTIA YOU SIMPLE PRICK, GET A FUCKING LIFE!
I guess being a journalistic whore makes it all right...
Dispite rumors to the contrary the Feds. were in no way involved in the SOS investigation. It was TOTALLY the CPD/IAD and the State's Attorney's office from start to finish.
