CONGRATS TO ALL WHO MADE IT LEGIT, YOUR TIME SPENT STUDYING WAS WORTH IT. TO THE MERIT DICKS...CONGRATS ALSO YOU'VE MADE IT THIS FAR BY DOING NOTHING AND NOW YOU HAVE TAKEN A PROMOTION AWAY FROM A MORE DESERVING OFFICER. MY ONLY HOPE IS THAT YOUR SUPERVISORS REALIZE THIS AND YOU ARE ANSWERING PHONES FOR THE REST OF YOUR CAREER. BUT WHO AM IN KIDDING...YOU'LL BE A SUPERVISOR IN NO TIME

Verbal skills, understanding of why this peron is trying to kill you and compasion are a much better weapon then a rifle or shotgun. Most of you people are lucky to hit the paper at 15 yards, let alone the center bull.

What another Detectives list? What do I see? You have been omitted again? That meritorious promotion that the aldercreature said was in the bag never came thru? All those hours of getting petitions signed, working the polls.
Your friends and co-workers have placed you on Suicide Watch. Sorry maybe next time.

Off topic but incredibly important to all of us in the CPD family.

Subject: Judicial Retention

Please consider voting NO to
Judge Rodney Brooks retention on
the 07 November ballot.

To recap: This Cook County judge is the individual that let Jonathan Tolliver go free just a
few days before he shot (and killed) Chicago Police Officer Mike Ceriale.

Eight years ago, the FOP said they would get the word out to the Chicago Police Dept. asking for a citywide vote of No for Judge Brooks, however, it's not clear if
anything was ever done.

Also, it should be noted Tolliver was before Judge Brooks three times that month all for high
end felonies. Judge Brooks let him go despite his proven record of criminality. Moreover if the above isn't enough, the man wears a raccoon skin hat to work.

So, please consider this information when going to the polls on November 7th.

No Sir, YOU are as soft as they come. We do not know the reason these people made merit because the Police Dept is too afraid to let us know because very few of them actually deserve it. They only have it because of phone calls and blow jobs. As for making fun of some ones stupidity you should check your spelling. There is no 4 in these.

one thing I can say is; if you make merit out of narcotics you deserved it. not to say beat cops don't. but how many of you can survive in the world of drug dealing without the bad guy knowing you are the police. working witout a vest, and a gun. being able to stay cool and talk your way out of situations in which you got a gun pointed at you. there are p/o's in narcotics that have never bought, and don't want to try. you have to have a high level of testicular fortitude to do dope buy's. sorry to the ladies that buy no pun intended.
SO CONGRATS TO WHO MADE IT OUT OF NAGIS ON MERIT. "if it was merit because i didn't make it off merit"

I didn't study for the test and give a rats ass about becoming a detective (I already have a nice spot- which I got on my own), but this merit shit had got to go!

I see way too many names on these lists and wonder what the fuck they did in their life/career to deserve it except being someone's friend, relative, or neighbor? Where does the merit part come in. Show me something, tell me something they did besides being a puppy and kissing ass all day!

I know a lot of good guys who should've made it by now, but their promotions got pushed back to make room for some of these clueless fucking idiots!

The department is killing morale with all this bullshit.

WOULDN'T TURN IT DOWN. NOT COMPLAINING ABOUT MERIT, MERIT WILL ALWAY BE THERE, AND THOSE WITH THE JUCIE WILL MAKE IT NO MATTER WHAT. JUST MAKING A COMMENT ON SOMEONE WHO GOT PROMOTED BY MERIT WHO HAS ZERO STREET EXPERIENCE. BEING A GOOD DETECTIVE IS A SKILL, ONE THAT STARTS WITH DEALING WITH SCUM BAGS ON A DAY TO DAY BASIS WHETHER ON A BEAT CAR, TACT TEAM, UNIT ETC...TO BEAT THE BEAST YOU MUST FIRST KNOW THE BEAST...ANYWAY, NICE PERSON, HEY AT LEAST HE DIDN'T MAKE HER A SGT! GOOD LUCK.

You are so wrong. Didn't you read the post from the Narcotics copper? Do you know the level of skill involved in working a 6 hour day? Do you how hard it is to duck after 3 or 4 hours if you are the buy officer? Then there is the beard! Oh the beard the trimming, the shaping. What a pain in the ass. If you sleep on your side it gets very irritated. Trying to park the take take home car can be a bitch too. Luckily I had a brand new had a mini-van so the wife and I didn't have to buy one. What about having to be home in the evenings and weekends. All that time with the family is a pain in the ass. Luckily no one sells dope on the weekends or evenings. All those guys in 189 are great coppers and deserve everything that comes their way. Its all legit. The fact that Cline is a Narcotics guy and takes care of his own has nothing to do with it. Guys like the shitbird from 189 are the reason I left the unit. If you got a good spot, keep your mouth shut and enjoy it. If you do good work people will know, you don't have to pump your own nads. Don't tell me shit like that ain't going on. I was there too long and and I only moved down the hall. I still see it.

Oh yeah, so all of a sudden a dog will become a worker because he or she was promoted? ANOTHER PERSPECTIVE:

Lets just say: YOU are a HARD working COPPER in a District who loves being the POLICE besides all the bullshit on this job. And there are a lot of us. You make the Gang/Tact team on your own because you re doing a good job, and some rare Bosses recognize it. Now you re on Tact for lets say 7-8 years, doing a great job and you feel its time to move on, so you like a bunch of us throw in application with lets say, Narcotics, Intelligence, SOS, where ever you desire to go. YOU get called for an interview, and the guy says, "Great kid, I d take you in a heartbeat, but do you know anybody to help get you down here", or " Great kid, you'll be on the next order", and about 36 orders go by, and you re not on them. Now you apply for that same unit again, same interview, same person interviewing you, SAME speech. NOTHING. But you re still out there doing a great job. You re Commander comes up to you and says, " I WANT to put you in". YOu get all your stuff to together. 6 months later, the list comes out, and You re not on it. YOU still do a great job, because you love being the POLICE. Now all of a sudden, a sec. calls you from OCD and says, "are you still interested in coming down". "YES". No clout, no phone call, you re on the order. Now you re there lets say 5-6 years, and you're doing that GREAT job you always have, and the Commander says "I want to put you in". The list comes out, you re not on it. Still doing a GREAT job. Commander puts you in again. List comes out, no phone call, no clout, you re ON it.
THERE ARE A LOT OF US OUT THERE WITH THIS STORY, THERE ARE EXCEPTIONS TO EVERYTHING. If you re one of these people that keeps being let down, keep trying, it will pay off, there are a lot of stories out there like this one. And it is unfortanate for people in the district, unless one of your bosses is a rising star, but when you go to a UNIT, and you continue to do well, you ARE going to shine in front of your bosses. And ALL the bosses in a unit are Heavy.

KEEP throwing your resume in there, once a week if you have to, until they are sick of hearing from you, throw it in to different bosses within that unit. If Narcotics, or OCD, or whomever, is doing an Operation in your area, voul. for it, get your name out there.

Sure, most of the MERIT don t deserve it, I ll agree with you, but THERE are those rare instances of GOOD coppers that don t test well, and by a MIRACLE stand out in front of a Boss that will recog. YOU.

And remember just because you think you have a GOOD reputation, and you ARE a GOOD Police Officer, if you re name winds up on a Transfer Order, or a Promotion list, someone on here, will RIP or talk bad about you (ESPECIALLY ON THIS SITE). Because they didn t get what you EARNED. And MOST of them don't deserve it.

So let the RIPPING begin.

KEEP THE FAITH.

Congrats Jimmy Lamperis!!You are one of a select few I would want at the scene if I got in another shooting. Back in the day the area 4 det's would ask if Jimmy was working so he could do the paper on a Agg. Batt/Homic. You truely deserve it. God bless!!

d.McE was the one who was caught in a LARGE CPD 15 PASSENGER VAN SHopping at River Oaks. If she doesn't come back from lunch, someone should drop a dime. I would love to know what idiot gave her this promotion.

P.M. 019, obviously meritorious. Non-productive, arrogant; should have been charged along with her boyfriend when he ran over the old lady on Harlem ave. you were in the van with him, P.M.
