Voting on Judges

We know we aren't going to make an impact on any races that truly matter. We're a small time site with maybe 1,000 readers - 1,500 on a good day.

But 1,000 people voting on judicial retention could make a monumental difference.

We stated somewhere at the beginning of this blog that we had never ever voted for a Cook County judge. Never. We undervoted once as a favor to someone and felt so bad about it, we vowed never again. Whenever judges come up for retention, we vote "No" straight across the board. Most people skip the judicial races as it's tedious and no one knows who to vote for anyway.

So we're encouraging all of our readers to (first of all) vote. And second of all, vote "No" on every single judge up for retention - especially Colleen Sheehan who let the a couple of Police Battery offenders go for no apparent reason, other than the fact that they were politically connected law students related to a Minnesota States Attorney.

Again, it won't make a big difference, and the spots will have to be filled by appointment anyway, so it's possible the political powers will end up naming Sheehan to her old spot even if she loses the election. But it would be as amusing as hell to see the local pundits try to figure out why so many judges didn't get retained this year. And it isn't like you're wasting your vote - you're just messing with the system.

Here comes the judge, here comes the judge, here comes the judge(the voting booth closes and the tally results are in) there goes the judge, there goes the judge, there goes the judge [LAUGH-IN, a while back LOL]

I always vote against almost every judge's retention. I take special joy in voting against the one's with the Irish last names... both white and black. I'll leave the Eastern European named judges in there just because I've never had one rule against me in any of my court cases in my 17 years on the job.

I'm sorry, but I don't completely agree with you. Appearing in front of many judges over the years has given me a good opinion (mine) of their qualifications. I vote YES for those who in my mind are good, NO for those who are shit. If I don't know one way or the other, I just don't vote.

There are good people on the bench, just as there are asshats. Voting NO on every name puts us in the same boat that says all copes are crooked. Judge people on their actions, not on what they are.

On the other hand....Sheehan can go fly a kite. She gets a BIG NO
And that is for real!

"Throw the scoundrels out". I've never voted to retain any judge. Its amazing that we can find out who our alderman, state and federal senators and represenitives are. Even the district commander can be tracked down.
judges? Their another story, especially "assocoate judges". the system plays musical chairs with them. Joe public does'nt get involved unless his cars is stolen and the "criminal tresspasser" arrsted, or he gets punched in the nose while waiting for a bus. Each time he goes to court, its another judge, so inept, that my car mechanic would do a better job.
26 and cal. is another story, former defense attorneys, looking for a tittle and cramming their liberal motives up lady justices rear end.

I intend on voting no on almost every Judge but especially for Judges Kowalski and Sheehan. Sheehan because she let the politically connected children of a Democratic politician from Minnesota off of the hook and Kowalski because his statements from the bench in open-court on highly inappropriate.

I will vote yes for Judge Joseph Urso because he has always been a good friend of police officers and two of his sons are police officers in Schaumberg and Melrose Park.

I disagree with voting no on all the judges. What the hell, there are some really great, right thinking judges who deserve our support. You don't throw out the baby with the bathwater.

By the way, don't forget to vote NO on the retention of judge Colleen sheehan.

She deals out some justice and deserves out support.

We 'dumped' Judge Passarella over the Kathy Touhy incident. That was on November 4th, [election day] 1986.
If you get a chance, read Robt. Cooley's book, "When Corruption Was King."
Cooley had that case in front of Passarella, it was motion to 'fix' all the way. Pat Marcy, [1st Ward ] had the judge in his pocket, a pre-paid, pre-determined verdict.
Cooley relates in his book that, "Pussy-rella" [my title not his] when announcing his ruling, 'switched off his microphone and whispered to the court, "NOT GUILTY" and all but ran from the courtroom, never giving any further explanation for his verdict.'
Marcy charged with 2 counts of RICO, and a dozen total counts of Bribery and Extortion died during his trial.
Passarella never was indicted in the 'GAMBAT' investigation according to Cooley, however he cites interesting information in his book how Ed Burke and his wife Anne, worked on fixing the "Moffet' case. [We know what THEY are doing today]
Interesting reading.

Don't forget, IF nothing else, vote NO to retain Judge Colleen SHEEHAN. We need to send a message.
STAY SAFE, my brothers.

Insted of voting against only judge's for retention, How about some of the P.O's share the names of bad judge's for all of us to see.
Since im not in court very much these days, I would be happy to stand by my fellow P.O who is. I would like to know what judges are against the police or for the shithead. I will vote accordingly.
We could sure use some better judges.
I know it is hit or miss, sometimes it's hard to choose a best of two evils, but we will never know if we dont give them a spin.

Got the FOP news letter today. I did not want to believe that the FOP was deep into the pockets of the Democratic Machine. Now I know I was WRONG, Did you see who the FOP endorsed? With the exception of one Republican the commitee recommended the board, vote strait Democrap, and being the puppets they are, thats how they voted.

I hope you all remember this the next time we vote for officers in the FOP. A vote for any of these fools is a vote for Daley and Stroger.

And you wonder why we keep getting fucked on our contracts. NOW YOU KNOW WHY!!!

WHY WOULD THE FOP CONTINUE TO SUPPORT THE MACHINE WHO FUCKS OVER THE POLICE EVERY CHANCE IT GETS???

Could it be favors to the board members, City and County jobs for thier families, Kick backs $$$?

No, that don't haapen in chicago!

Got to have a big NO on this Judge ladies and gentlemen. It was June, 2005 when Anne and Elizabeth Batch(daughters of Minn. Attorney General, Mike) were found Not Guilty by Judge Colleen Sheehan of Battery, Resisting, and C.D.T.P. It was one of their 21st birthday parties at the Crobar, which they were eventually ejected from. They fought with the Police, broke one of their glasses and a window in the squad car. Judge decided she didn't believe Crobar staff or the Police. Oh really your honor, I guess they broke their own window in the squad? Time for the big payback everybody! Let's send her packing back to the PD'S office.

Always vote the incumbent out.........and to get a bit off topic.....The G will go after us, and after politicians, but one has to wonder why they don't focus on the Adlerboobs......I mean think about it, okay we had two numbnuts try to swipe 31,000, and they should get slammed, but how much money, city resources, etc. do these cretins wind up with? It amazes me that an organization like the G, with its historical dislike of Chicago, hasn't targeted these guys yet.....guess you need a star to attract attention.

Anyone remember the name of the judge who let the teenaged shithead who killed Mike Ceriale out a week or so beforehand instead of locking his gangbanging ass up? We need to vote NO for him, also.

Luckman is crabby, and deaf but he doesn't hate the police by a longshot. I remember going before him at the old 40 and 41 coutrooms at 11th and state, he was good, just hated b.s. cases and hated to wait, when he moved too 43 and 44 he was still good, usually good for p.c. on a good case.
