- An autopsy showed Saturday a 23-year-old Southwest Side woman found in her bathtub was suffocated and strangled to death.
- About 8 p.m. Friday the woman, identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's office as 23-year-old Ursula Sakowska, was found in her bathtub in the 6100 block of South McVicker Avenue by either neighbors or friends
- The woman, who reportedly was found with duct tape over her mouth, died from suffocation and strangulation, according to a medical examiner's office spokesman.

Wow, Garfield Ridge has been slowly going to shit and it's a shame. Just look at the grafitti popping up everywhere. Look at the gangbangers cruising around with their fucking music shaking the neigborhood. Parties full of thugs spilling into the street. But everyone is too busy on the east end dealing with joe and giving those non-tax paying motherfuckers service. God forbid somebody does any work on the west end. Probably to "slow" on that end. I mean, how will they get to tell stories about being the "real" police if they work that end of the district. It's bad enough there are only a handful of places in this fucked up city that a copper can live in relative peace and quiet, and Garfield Ridge is starting to drop off that list. Wonder if they will have an outdoor roll call over there, or saturate the area, probably not, leclair courts needs protection.

What is going on in Garfield Ridge? I live in Mt. Greenwood and it seems the bulk of the people moving in to here are from Garfield Ridge and to a lesser extent the St Denis (Sp?) area. Its always sad to see a neighborhood die because of A$$HOLES moving inn. I have been though this before on the west side and nothing sucks more than seeing your childhood home run down with gang graffiti on it.
Garfield Ridge and Clearing, west of Central Avenue have almost 40,000 people and only Beat cars 811 and 812 to protect them. Type in "USM G/008" on your PDT sometime and see how often those cars are pulled off the beat, or one of them is a down car on midnights. We pay the bills, and get none of the protection we deserve.
Can we cecede from Chicago and become part of Scummit? At least then we might actually have a police car patrolling our streets.
Or Forestview? They may be on the other side of I-55, but we'd still get better police protection.

Wow. Haven't seen a murder in the neighborhood since the Insane Almighty Popes incident back in Xmas 98 or so when a couple of pretend gangbangers unloaded on a van.
A possible occurence is the murderer first went to Leomemorials house, but upon looking at her he thought life was cruel enough already.

I have lived here my entire life and can say that I am looking to get out of this area in a hurry. All it is around here is Mexican/White gangbangers or you now get mules from summit coming into bars on Archer. Of course 008 is worthless when it come to patroling 812/811's beats because they are to busy making one (1) rock pinches on the eastend. I know alot of coppers work in 008 and live on the westend, why the hell dont you guys/gals do something over here??? Do I bid to 008 and do something about it, or just raise the white flag and say screw it because the damage is already done? Its a shame that the eastend animal gets all the police service and we suffer here on the westend. I would like to see TRU over on this end of the district (or any beat car from 008) and not just when they are passing by to go eat at Portillo's.

1: That homicide was in CLEARING, not Garfield Ridge! The Ridge ends at the tracks right around 59th st.
2: Everybody knows that Clearing is loaded with hillbillies and rednecks. That's why an identical type of house costs at least $50,000 MORE in Garfield Ridge.
3: I know the guys who have worked Beat 811 (3rd watch) over the past few years and they HAVE worked their asses off to keep things quiet here.
4: That loud, thumping music and the partying kids are all the Polish kids from the neighborhood in their "Fast & Furious" Honda cars that they race up and down Archer Avenue. They all have JOBS and the stuff they do is typical of their age... parties, loud music, and racing cars.

Yep your right if you think that scratch off lottery tickets and coffee/slurpees at 7-11 on 63rd and Austin counts as good police work.
Lets see....Hmmmm.....a couple days ago I counted 7 countem 7 cars from $O$ while driving by Portillos in Summit. Then returning back home 5 TRU cars were.
Theres plenty of work to do on the west end of 008. But I will admit I have seen 812 working '99 drive by the house numerous times on 3rd watch.

Tact/gang teams are not allowed to work west end of 008 per commander(fact). Guys working 3rd watch on 811/12 do work when they get the chance(if not handling B.S. jobs on east end due to not enough manpower, fact). Other coppers in 008 try to work west end if they get a chance, but it is rare because they are handling B.S. jobs on east end(fact). Why is it that 008 has had 4 openings in how many periods(alot), Clines response was to give 008 more PPO's(fact). Garfield Ridge is not gone, but if 008 D.C. & Cline don't get their heads out the mayor's ass it will be gone. My buddy was not complaining he was making D3 pay processing the scene. And its also known about inspector Mc M being upset earlier on 3rd watch. I was not coming down on Forensics Investigators, please do not take it that way. I'm just saying every unit needs more personnel to function properly. HIRE MORE POLICE!
