Then this assbag buys a 40 thousand dollar underwater radar unit, that could not find the U.S.S. Arizona if it sunk in Lake Michigan. He buys dive equipment without having any knowledge about diving!! Fuck his ass can't even swim!! He is happy that people keep coming up missing in the downtown area so he can put the dog and pony show on looking for their bodies. The hits just keep coming from this douche bag! I beg this department to just once promote somebody that deserves it! A note to Equipment & Supply please send more PAR Forms to the 018th. Dist. they will need them ASAP. Please hurry and send a new Lt. to the unit, because there are two Sgt.'s (R.E./B.F) who need to find a ass they can stick thier heads into. It seems every single time I get on this site, there is nothing but one rude remark after another. I have reached a point I only come here about once a week because of it and usually only read the topics. So here is some information for all the coppers who need to bitch about something.
Some on here seem to have a problem with any officer that has less than 10 years on the job. Guess those guys went thru the academy as veteran officers. Some have problems with anyone on a unit, have you ever even applied? Would your activity ever have gotten you there? Some have problems with patrol/beat officers, guess you went thru the academy as an SOS/SWAT/TRU veteran and never rode the beat. And for those who have problems with support of indicted officers in any form, don't throw stones when you live in a glass house, it is not our place to judge, we police.

We have some of the most blatant disregard for traffic compliance in Mt. Greenwood....I am from an outside unit and have stopped cars when going through the neighborhood and have extended that courtesy. That being said I wish that someone who didn't feel compelled to extend that courtesy would enforce in our neighborhood because a child is definitely going to die from the way most drive in excessive speed and disregard for stop signs.
I worked for Georgas in the marine unit and he did more for the unit in one year then anyone has in the past 30.
I would say that he is a very fair boss, that really cares about the safety of the working cops

Hmm. what commander would do street stops by himself, try Joe McCarthy, also known as patrolman Joe. Look what happened to him, W/C on midnights in 019. Guess you cant be that good a street cop and be a boss. $75 bucks is not too much to save a life. Many more coppers and firemen (off duty) have been killed in wrecks in 008, 016 and 022 then citywide (on duty) on both jobs over the last 10 years. Say what you may but Georgas has done a world of good for the Marine Unit. He has improved the safety aspect of the unit by instituting dive protocols that were extremely lacking and has acquired improved equipment.(Many say Earl Zuelke may be very influential in that regard)He has always sought to better the unit. Many are pissed because he made many changes to achieve those goals too fast. But when safety is concerned, that is a small compromise to make, in my opinion. I think in the long run the unit will benefit from those changes. On the minus side... He needs to improve on his people skills if he will make the successful transition to D/C. The fat cats and high rollers in that district will demand it. I hope that the new C/O of the MU will continue on the same path Georgas started. There are more people in the unit that appreciate what he has started than one may think. Good luck in 018 Steve.
It doesn't matter what type of copper Keting is, or how great a guy he might be for that matter. His getting triple bumped like that is a slap in the face to any lieutenant or captain on this job trying to make good for themselves.
I was a young Patrolman in 018 when Steve was a Sgt. there. The only thing that I can say about him is that he was a worker and expected his subordinates to at least handle thier jobs. He got rid of the dogs and rode the ones that he couldn't. He rewarded the workers and tried to help them out when he could. I thought that he was a good boss and I knew that he was going up the ladder based upon ability and work ethic. I suspect that all the hate being spewed about here is from those dogs that he made work. I say, "Congratulations Steve, you deserve it"! One more thing. Will all you guys that keepi harping about him being related to Mara knock it off. They don't even spell thier names the same. They are NOT related!

The C.P.D. is another form of a welfare program. I'm still trying to figure it out, but this is where I am at right now. It seems that the city "gives" certain people promotions for different obvious reasons. One way is to belong to LAPA. Another is to belong to HAPA. Is there an acronym for a black police organization, especially female? Anyway, does anybody know if a male white, good guess that's me, who belongs to R.P.W.M.C.A. (Real Police White Male Catholic Association) can make a phone call to be given a promotion? I guess I'm screwed because I'm not black, hispanic, female, or Greek Orthodox. I am also the police and live in Mt. Greenwood and I welcome the Traffic Unit. It is a nice area, but people here seem to think that they can break the traffic laws whenever they want, speed up and down the street, with Stop signs being only a suggestion rather than the law. I believe in extending professional courtesy to police officers, fire fighters. paramedics and their family members as long as it is asked for and not demanded. Sad to say it is only a matter of time before some child or elderly person is killed out here. The C.P.D. is another form of a welfare program. I'm still trying to figure it out, but this is where I am at right now. It seems that the city "gives" certain people promotions for different obvious reasons. One way is to belong to LAPA. Another is to belong to HAPA. Is there an acronym for a black police organization, especially female? Anyway, does anybody know if a male white, good guess that's me, who belongs to R.P.W.M.C.A. (Real Police White Male Catholic Association) can make a phone call to be given a promotion? I guess I'm screwed because I'm not black, hispanic, female, or Greek Orthodox. Please don't take me the wrong way! I'm not bitching. Sorry, this is what I am. The only consolation I have is that I have done work as a police officer, not as a member of this department. I also worked the oneandonlyplace toworkwestside, but I never looked down on coppers like you writing "ALLOT OF TICKETS" or impounding "ALLOT OF CARS," because I only bothered with felony arrests.

I live in 016 and welcome the traffic unit or any other coppers to write movers on ANYONE other than coppers.

We have some of the most blatant disregard for traffic compliance in Mt. Greenwood....I am from an outside unit and have stopped cars when going through the neighborhood and have extended that courtesy. That being said I wish that someone who didn't feel compelled to extend that courtesy would enforce in our neighborhood because a child is definitely going to die from the way most drive in excessive speed and disregard for stop signs.

A child did die in Mt. Greenwood a few years ago on 109th and Homan on her way to school, hit by some jagoff in a hurry. There is a small monument there in her rememberance. Also, an off duty police officer was killed by some kid that blew a stop sign about three years ago. I routinely observe motorists in Mt. greenwood disregard stop signs and speed down side streets day and night. It's come to the point where I advise friends and family to stop at all intersections whether there's a stop sign or not.

I am a 24 year veteren police officer and have three teenage sons. I have given each of them my business card to keep with their D/L. ON the back I wrote "Please extend any courtesy you can to my son. Please also call me at the numbers on the other side and let me know what they have done so that I can make sure that they get disciplined properly. Thank You"
My sons know to use the card if they need to but they also know that they are in big trouble if I get a call. Since I own the car and pay the insurance they know I will find out so they also know there is no getting out of it. As Police officer parents we owe it to our children to instill in them the proper respect for the law. Yes I have gotten a call, after I was asleep. My son blew through a stop sign and was stopped. The officer gave him a pass. He also said my son was polite. He lost his driving privledges for a month. I am not patting my self on my back because it isnt my idea. My father did this for me many years ago as well. Remember if our children are spoiled brats it is our fault not the officer who stops them.
Yikes! Any school that would give Art Parra a degree should immediately lose it's accreditation.

He took one of the best units in the department and fucked it up in no time. First he flooded a school when he over filled a swimming pool used for training! Then this assbag buys a 40 thousand dollar underwater radar unit, that could not find the U.S.S. Arizona if it sunk in Lake Michigan. He buys dive equipment without having any knowledge about diving!! Fuck his ass can't even swim!! He is happy that people keep coming up missing in the downtown area so he can put the dog and pony show on looking for their bodies. The hits just keep coming from this douche bag! I beg this department to just once promote somebody that deserves it! A note to Equipment & Supply please send more PAR Forms to the 018th. Dist. they will need them ASAP. She was one of the original 11 or 12 that Daley wanted to promote "meritoriously" to Lt. back in 1995. The courts ruled against Daley at that time, but we all know what has happened since. Incidently, those 11 or 12 sued and eventually got their Lt. seniority backdated to 1995. So yeah, I guess you could call her a clout baby.

More importantly, perhaps persons of skill and intellect could comment as to the overall causes of crime, and specifically as to those root causes over which none of us have any control.
