Is it Getting Hot in Here?
- Mayor Daley said Friday he has "no problems" answering questions under oath about allegations that -- as state's attorney and as mayor -- he failed to investigate torture allegations against former Police Lt. Jon Burge.
- "If they require me to be deposed, I have no problems with that. That's all I have to say," he told reporters at police headquarters.
- Daley noted he had been "deposed already" by a special prosecutor appointed to investigate the allegations against Burge.
And as we remember, the "I don't recall" defense was exercised to its fullest extent in that deposition. But as the city settles everything that comes its way and is all too eager to give away taxpayer money, we expect another monumental settlement to wend its way to the City Council within the year.

"Mr. Mayor what did you know about the Burge investigation and when did you know it?"
ANS. " Silly, dats silly. Real silly, ya silly, jes' silly, you know silly ya dats it, silly!"
..."No further questions, your honor!"
and so, it wil be more of the same, to go along with any of his prior depositions..."I don't recall", "I don't remember", "I was never informed of that", etc., etc. It's the mark of a politician who, when questioned or asked about an issue that might be controversial, claims "no knowledge"....it speaks volumes about character (or lack of), doesn't it? (and also speaks volumes about the voters, who don't seem to have any idea what's going on, and don't care)....
If he does have to get on that stand, he's certainly going to be a "stuttering prick"!!!!!
Though I don't like Daley, or the policies of the Corporation Counsel, don't be too hard on him or the city for wanting to settle the Burge matter. This will be a big mess, and some people could be badly burned if this ever goes to court.

SSC it seems that this time you want your cake and be able to eat it to. On the one hand what cop wants a States Attorney balls out eager to prosecute cops. On the other hand your hatred for Daley clouds your better judgment. This reminds me of every hard working cops predicament of being caught between doing his job and being accused of racism and brutality, by every nickel and dime so called community activist, preacher and heads up their behind news reporter. Well maybe Daley’s getting a taste of what it’s like to be a cop. I also have no love for Da Mayor, but that don’t mean we should cut of our heads in spite of our face.

hope he is made to testify in an open court room! maybe they could also talk about what he dosen't know even though he may know even though he maybe there!

why should the city of Chicago taxpayers alone shell out the 14.8 or so million for the settlement in the Burge case? Daley worked for Crook County at the time. THEE States Attorney. What about the County's culpability? And how is it that to this day, the only evidence against Burge and Co. on the alleged torture incidents is the testimony of worthless career criminals who have nothing to lose by lying their useless monkey asses off about anything that will get them freedom, or lawsuit money. What a farce...
Jon burge has been shit on by the liberal press, the con man revs. and teh city of chicago for the last 15 years!
