Serious Story? Or Bullshit?
Got a letter from a copper:
- Hey SCC, sorry if you got banned. Hopefully, you can get to the bottom of this info I just heard .... a couple of people who went to TARA training last week said the feds removed someone from class. This person was in a full CPD uniform, but was actually a foreign national with no association with the CPD. If true, this should be front page news in all the papers. Is it true that anyone can go into any uniform store and buy CPD uniforms without ID? And did this person have a star? A gun? How did he get in? How did he get caught? Is this some sort of probe to see what our training is like or our security protocols?
If true, this is disturbing, but not shocking. We all know al-Qaeda runs surveillance ops prior to attacks. Could this be a precursor to something? And if true, shouldn't the police be made aware that there are impostors in our midst (in our uniforms) attending the same security briefings and training we are? It's telling that they make their probes at a citywide training facility where everyone doesn't know everyone else and an imposter could easily get in and sit in on a training event.
Can or does anyone have info regarding this? If it's BS, fine, it isn't the first time we've been fed BS in the comments or via e-mail. But if it's true, then a bunch of people ought to be answering questions and maybe the media ought to do a little probing.

I could be dead wrong on this but I think someone is pulling your chain.......How many people attend the TARA class at any one time? Of them we only hear this story from one person......seriously doubt it happened.........

Yes any person can buy any police uniform without any proof of actually being employed by the Department, for Chicago atleast. I do not know if any other departments or munic. have any laws against it, but Chicago does not. Uniform shops should atleast ask for id's to sell stuff and deny anyone who does not produce one.
As for someone being in the TARA training who was not suppose to be there, so what. I have already gone through that training. They are not revealing any plans or protocals that this department has in regards to terror events happening here.
The instructors admit that everything that they "teach" is pulled of the web and public materials.
Nothing is taught in that training on what we as a department member or first responders are to do when the shit hits the fan.
It is all being done to obtain federal money. The put on the TARA program to justify recieving the federal money but a vast majority of the money recieved has disappeared and spent on other things.
I do agree people should not be in places that they are not suppose to be but if they think they are learning something by sitting through that training the only thing they are learning is that we as a department do not know shit, or atleast the little patrolman are not told shit

old news. that happened a long time ago. he wasnt in uniform, he was in plain clothes. he sat through 3 days of class until he got caught. he gave a fake name, star #, and unit. he tripped up when he said he was assigned to a special unit from the Sears Tower detail. The feds came into class and removed him.
station security, national security and so on in this city and dept sucks the big one.
It was not a CPD member, and as intelligence is gathered it's probably best people don't know he's in custody. By now I'm sure everyone he's connected to knows, but security was better served at the time by keeping it quite and learning as much as possible.

But 008th Dist locked up a guy who had full CPD uniform at a notorious motel(Rollin Wheels) on pulaski known for bums, hypes, whores, and ex jail birds. Great arrest by 008 Tact glad to see someone is working there so close to the airport.

I did notice that the guy sitting next to me was in a CPD uniform but was wearing a turban with the CPD shield pinned to it. He also had a long dark beard. Upon closer inspection he was wearing his book backpack backwards and it was laying on his chest. I noticed a pull cord extending from the backpack. Instead of sitting on one of the classroom's chairs he brought in an old rug and was kneeling on it with his shoes off softly saying some chanting. He was reading the Tara Instruction book but a book called the Koran. We tried to be friendly towards this "fellow" officer and asked him if he wanted to go for drink with the rest of us after class but he said no, I don't rink alcohol and I will be having a date with 72 virgins when class was "ended." We all thought he was joking because we all know that there isn't a total of 72 virgins with 100 miles of Chicago. Just then an all black helicopter landed on the roof and several men in all black suits with dark sunglasses repelled off the roof into our classroom window. We thought these guys were part of the training but they were all serious and shit and talking into their hands. These black suits guys tackled the officer faster than a Bears quarter back trying to make a throw.
But to be honest with you, none of us saw anything unusual or anything at all dealing with a terrorist. So I think it's all bullshit if you asked me.
I'll tell you this . . When you go into the training faclity on Larabee St. for training.. THEY DO NOT ASK YOU FOR AN ID.
If you have on a uniform.. that you can buy anywhere.. you're in.

There are also a few gang banger websites that are banned from department computers, which makes no sense cause they were a great source of intelligence there are pictures of the dumb monkeys and savages in front of their cars and houses with AKs, drugs, etc, faction name changes, where they hang, and all sorts of good shit. why the hell would they ban these sites????

Wow this city is a rumor mill.....
The guy was a security official for the sears tower. he was in the class around the time when the 6 people were arrested in florida for ploting to destroy the sears tower. A detective from area 5 came and took him from the class, and then left with him several minutes later in handcuffs.
You draw your own conclusions.
PS I was in the class, and I was paying attention. That was by far some of the best training we ever got. Thank you TARA staff!!!!!

Just goes to show how ridiculous 90% of the stuff on the internet is BS...The case in question was with a civilian security guard from the Sears Tower. Out of curiousity, one of the TARA guys name checked him, and it turned out he had a connection to another guy with an investigative alert for homicide. The dicks came out, interviewed him, and he was out of the class the next day. Turned out he was Albanian, and was connected to an Albanian organized crime gang, but he was not connected with terrorism. This incident happened about 8 months ago. Funny the rumor-monger is just sharing this one now...wonder why?
Let them join in on the training, it sucks anyway. And maybe they will learn how to mismanage their resources as well.
I see LOTS of imposters! There are plenty of people wearing our uniform and not doing Shiet!

The above comment was right on. However it was the area dicks who picked him up for questioning. According to the instructors at TARA he was using his brother's car and when they checked his lic plates it turned out the owner was wanted for a homicide. The brother had already skipped town back to Albania. Nothing like going to TARA class just to get possibly ambushed.
You don’t have to be an U.S citizen to be a Chicago police officer, until recently. Chicago Police and Evanston Police where among the few departments that citizenship was not required. The majority of suburban departments have always maintained a citizenship requirement. In fact there are about 200 to 300 people waiting to get hired because they are not citizens, but the department does not disclose this to them for fear or a law suit for job discrimination. I spoke with someone at personal and he said that people just stay on the list for years to come. It doesn’t matter if they retake the exam, they won’t be hired until they go out their way and become a U.S citizen, which takes almost 2 year to complete. Once applicants become citizens, their supposed to notify 35th and Michigan of their status, and for the most part the will be put in the next available academy class.
They wouldn't discover SHITTTTTT in this bullshit fucking week except that the instructors are afraid of merit Lt. engstorm who has no fuckin' clue what day it is, let alone anything about police work or terrorism- just like her MERIT daddy Bruce and MERIT sister Michelle!

When it comes to being on the CPD You don't have to be a US Citizen. Other Departments do require citizenship as a condition of employment.

0422-Most-if not all-departments do require you to be a citizen, including Chicago Police.

that TARA story is true. I think it happend back in the early summer.
I was at TARA last week, no one was taken out. This is some idiot trying to tell a story told to them and getting it twisted around when retold again. No one was taken from the class last week.
There are other agencies in TARA training sometimes. One of the people allowed to take the class with CPD was taken out sometime last year. The individual did NOT have a CPD uniform on. This is old news, turned new with the telling and twisted to sound more exciting.
No drama on Larrabee last week, sorry to disappoint anyone.
With the uniform which can be bought easy, and that new security guard badge Chicago has, what do you expect?

Bullshit! M.S, one of the most highly trained TARA instructors, did not see the person. If M.S did not see the guy, then the whole story is bullshit!
M.S was chosen for his vast expertise in terrorism. He was the best of the best in terrorism training. His youthful appearance can fool the best of them!
Just came up from the redline....my radio wasn't working....called my partner, who was in a high rise, but his radio didnt work either. SO we met up with a sgt to discuss the matter, but he was in an elevator and couldnt hear the call either....We discussed the TARA incident at lengh over the pdts, but they kept going out of range, so we just decided that Chicago is safe as a pearl in an oyster...god bless little dick and Trotter!

The security in the 005th A/2 district is a joke. They have a 3 foot metal gate around the desk to try and keep the homeless guys going upstairs. The gate stops at the end of the stairs going up to the detective area. Any bum can go under the stairs to avoid the gate and make there way upstairs. There are bums roaming around upstairs at all times. I've personally seen a shoe shine guy walking the halls several times. I always send them back down stairs, but I guess everyone else is use to them. Any bum could grab detective files at any time. Files lay around all over not even locked up, because the department can't give the detectives locking file cabinets. What a JOKE!!! Wait till something happens, then something might get done. They need a lot better security. Hey Walter Jacobson dress as a bum enter Area 2 under the stairs and steal some detective files that will make a headline for you.
All this crying about the SCC being banned had me confused. All you mean is that certain cretins can't get on Department computers and whine all day, plus look up porn sites on city time. Quit the excessive bitching and buy a PERSONAL COMPUTER.

You are all wrong. You DO NOT have to be a citizen to become CPD. You cannot imagine the number of recruits that are going through the naturalization process while they are in the academy. And then there are those that do not even try to go through the process.
Again, one DOES NOT have to be a citizen to become a CPD.

deal out of it. He even told us that "Police Only" ment that we would have to bring prisoners in the front door because prisoners were not the police.
When a copper remarked that the prisoners would be with police officers the response was, then the sign would have included prisoners on it.
Laughter ensued, the w/c sulked out.

I cannot speak for post 9/11 but I know of at least 2 Officers who are not citizens who were hired before 9/11 and are still not citizens.

For those who have bashed the TARA instructors, shame on you. They are doing a great job. Also, I saw instructor M.S. box when he was younger. Great jab and a tough kid. I'd like to see him knock the teeth out of some of you who have nothing good to say about the TARA program, or anything for that matter.

Alright I'll say this once, to all the people who is misinformed regarding of citizenship of a person before they are hired into CPD, I suggest that you call the Personnel Division and ask them yourself and stop spreading rumors and hear say. Grab your FOP book and flip the page look for the phone number of Personnel Division and give them a call.
CPD wil require you to be a citizen of the US before they will hire you as a Police Officer. They will process your papers till the final stages and wait for your citizenship before they will send you to the Academy.
I cannot speak for post 9/11 but I know of at least 2 Officers who are not citizens who were hired before 9/11 and are still not citizens.

Do they have to pay Taxes at the end of the year? If I heard the story right, there was one that bragged that they did not have to pay taxes because of their status.

Better check out all the recruits in the academy that are not citizens. There are six or seven in there right now.
MS is a good instructor, because he is an intelligent PO. What TARA teaches is what the FED wants them to teach. The program only exists because the FED is providing the rent for the condemned facility and covers the salary for the PO instructors, and newly appointed director (who is only a director in title, she's still just a civilian training officer) who directs the program from her AC and heated office at the academy while her staff suffers in that shithole school.
