“The Board will meet soon to begin the nation-wide search, which will include recruiting and screening applicants, and conducting interviews,” Carney said in the release. “The first step is to retain an executive search firm to assist in attracting a diverse group of well-qualified candidates.”
No mention of Seiser yet, but it's only a matter of time. We've stated objections to half the names being floated already. We still can't believe the poor timing here. We roll in after working the midnight shift, and we have field seven phone calls before eleven in the freaking morning telling us we have to get something up on the website.

Why all sarcasm with Seiser? I worked with him on several occasions and he not only knows how to be the police but is also very knowledgeable on police issues (pension, insurance, etc.) How was Cline such a bad super? Was it that tough for you to pull a stupid event # for the DOC and fill out one contact card? How about all the coppers that drink in the same bars as the shitheads do. I am retiring after thirty years on this job. I have to have my say. First Superintendent Cline has been the best that I have worked under. If all of you cry babies and whiners had been around for the worst we had, you would line up and kiss Clines Keester.

I believe Cline was as good as he could be, under the circumstances. Think about it, how much control over the department did he really have? Which one of us wound not try and promote people we were close to on the job. Cline, like any Chief or Superintnedent had to sell his soul to get the job. I believe he felt he would be able to work around things to help the working cops out. In the end it cost him. Why would anyone want that job in the manner in which it would be presented to you. Here is my question. Why did it take the DC copper 10 days to file a CR# on Abbates Brother? From what I heard, it was nothing but a shove.No fighting. I wasn't there, but this is what I have heard. Would another copper file a CR 10 days after the fact for a shove? A piece of the puzzle is missing.

THAT is the funniest thing I have read in a longggggggggggg time
I wonder sometimes how long the people who post here have been on the job. Because if you have been around 15 plus years, you would remember some of the supes who preceeded Cline. And some of the dopes that they put into place. Anyone remember Rice? Holy shit. But he did what they all do, he put his friends into the spots. Who among us, if we were honest, would not? The difference is, are your guys qualified. I think that for the most part, Clines were. He was given Starks, had no choice. Kirby, Maher certain commanders, he was told what to do. The mayor uses those spots for 2 things-to look diverse and to pay back favors. In a lot of places Cline put people who should be there, people who know the business. I am not touting Huberman for supe, but the 911 center was effed up before he got there and when he left it had been improved. Ask anyone who works there what they thought of Trotter, another diversity pick.
Another problem Cline had was getting stuck with the guys that the reverends wanted in good spots. By this I mean wc's and lt's in units especially the detective division. Thats more daley crap. He needs the rev's for the vote so, he takes care of their guys. Lapa, Noble, Hellenic, those have to be fed. Thats the mayors doing. Ok, the Irish didn't do too bad either.
Now, about what we have to do...seat belt missions, pod missions, wolfpacks, I guaranfuckintee that Cline doesn't like that crap. Cline was the police, undercover, making buys, catching real violent criminals. Ok a lot of guys have done that and were not supe, but there can only be one supe at a time. But I digress. Those missions are from the mayor saying "I want numbers and the public to feel like something is being done". He can get on TV or at a neighborhood rally and say that the gangs are being attacked. But no one wants to do that stuff, so it serves no purpose. Every once in a while a seatbelt mission gets a criminal, but how often? And part of the reason for that is that the hair gel black glove crowd either does not want to search a car or doesn't know how. Wheres my probable cause? Gimme a break. And as someone else said, is it so hard to write a contact card or a ticket? If you weren't doing that, what would you be doing? Trying to figure out how to turn a personal into lunch? Go to work asshole and shut the fuck up. And quit bitching about the pay. You knew what the pay was when you came on. If you wanted to get rich, this is the wrong racket.
So the bottom line is that the bounce Cline crowd got what they wanted. Now be ready for Huberman, or one of the women mentioned, it won't be an outsider. And if it's Kirby, you ain't seen nothing in the discipline department.
Oh and about his kid. Don't know him, never worked with him. But anyone who says that he wouldn't take care of his family is a liar or a pimp.
Yea, I liked Sup. Cline. He wasn't perfect, but who is? I know this, 6 minutes after the new guy is in, there will be the same bitching and moaning here and all over the place. No matter who the replacement is.

Kush won't be the supe cuz he doesn't want it. He did leave because of 1505 funds but not because of his misdeeds, it was the departments misdeeds. The department was using 1505 funds inappropiately and Kush pointed it out. The department continued to misuse the funds over Kushner's objections and he got dumped. So he left. I saw him not long ago and he said he might put in a bid just to make some people at HQ shit their pants though. That would be pretty funny. Odds are a female and a black as supe and first. Won't be any better than we had, guarantee that.

Take it a step further: his secretary just made Det and is now downtown before training is ended. The reason: pregnant by a merit sgt made by MOLLOY. It is also ironic that she was married to a PO who was tragically killed in an off-duty traffic accident. If she marries this Sgt she loses the POs pension. CLOUT ANGLE: Now the widows pension is up in legislature to be changed. The new plan will allow her to keep the POS pension even if she remarries. She will have his pension, her Det salary, the baby's daddys sgt's salary. Wow!!! I don't begrudge any widow the full support of her deceased husbands pay, but to keep it after a new marriage is crazy. If she had children with the deceased PO, his children would still get support checks in either case. So the new legislature is just another CLOUT means of depleting our pension fund, unnecessarily, and benefiting someone with heavy connections.

After Cline took over, several items with no connection to narcotics enforcement were ordered, adn billed to the 1505 account. Several t-f-s reports were sent by Kushner to those above him in the chain of command; each came back witha post it note, hand-written, stating to the effect that "the supe wants it done this way, so just do it" I wouldn't be surprised if a couple of those reports and post it notes left with Kush and are being kept in a safe spot.

In regard to Kushner.. I worked for him while he was my tac lieutenant in 003 several years back. He was a go getter, a fair boss, and would be the first to go through the door on our search warrants. He also had good things to say about his troops and he would constantly thank his workers. I agree I worked the 14th dist when the dist commander maria would go into the review office and give the answers to some of the question to five of the PO'S who all make Sgt at the same time. Cline should have been gone long ago and we all know that. He's turned a blind eye on the black eyes that bad coppers bring to our department - literally and figuratively - since his first day on the job. Drunk cops beating up girls on video tape is nothing new, Abatte's not the first. I know first hand that there was a situation in 014 summer of 2005 in which a well-known P.O. beat a girl to a bloody pulp and it was caught on tape - OPS was brought into investigate and all things OPS they botched the situation even more and caused more harm to the girl. It made it's way to Cline's desk and all things Phil Cline, it got swept under the rug. We are sworn to go out there every day and serve and protect. That's why we took these jobs of ours. Cops that tarnish our reps should go, they obviously aren't interested in upholding the oaths we all took.
