Kill All the Lawyers
- The family of a 17-year-old north suburban girl who fell to her death through a warehouse skylight last weekend has won a court order to preserve the accident scene.
- Attorney Daniel Kotin is representing the family. He says they want to know who was with the girl the night of the accident, who owns the warehouse and who provided alcohol to the girl and her friends.
All well and good if they want to find out who served this girl alcohol and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law. Bravo. But you know that even if someone is prosecuted criminally, that isn't going to provide any amount of "blood money" to replace a lost daughter.
- Kotin says he wants to determine whether the skylight met city building code standards.
Ah yes, sue the entity with the deepest pockets - the City. Meaning you and us. Great. A minor child can come to town, get drunk on private property, trespass on someone else's private property, get killed WHILE TRESPASSING on private property and now the taxpayers of the City of Chicago (of which we are members) can be on the hook for potential damages because a skylight of a warehouse that might be decades old might not be up to code?
We really need to see stacks and stacks of dead lawyers around here.

Sounds like the family lawyer is trying to cash in on a familys loss to fill his own pocket!!! If a person is trespassing and hurts themselves it shouldnt even get into court, because they shouldnt have been there in the first place. I feel sorry for the familys loss but they should take some of the blame for not controlling their daughter and her actions at the end of the day have resulted in her own death. She is at the only person at fault at the end of the day and she has paid the highest price - her life.
Lets blame this one on Tony too, after the kitchen sink hits him too!
What about the fact that her friends did not call police for two hours after she fell, and they drank at one of her friends father's place ajacent to the warehouse for hours before she fell? And that each north shore teen at the sceane of the fall has a different story to police. Murder, accident, or cover up?

If it happened in area 1 the detectives would just be getting around to it a week later. That place is filled with do nothing jagoffs and nose in the air bitch detectives. The sense of entitlement there is incredible.
To all the real police out there forget about trying to get the detectives to help you in Area 1, unless Sgt. Duffin(top shelf guy) is on the scene, these detective will fuck you, and go back to the internet, or talking to their females on the phone, or just flat out not doing their jobs. What a fucking joke.

I'll bet everyone of you goofs would be demanding that your lawyers sue everyone in sight if this happened to one of your kids. Also questioning whether or not the skylight met city code is not the same thing as suing the City. Skylight's shouldn't just fall in unless they are improperly installed or rotted, but that's on the owner of the premises. Answering this question may also go to answering the question of whether she was pushed, shoved or fell. My question is how did she get on the roof in the first place?

Sometimes a person like me has to have very mean thoughts...I hope these sad events happen to the lawyers families and their loved ones and another turd lawyers sues. It's all about money folks.
Its the police's fault. Probably some off-duty cops working a side job at a bar or liquor store let her buy booze. The police chopper should have seen them on the roof. What about the beat cars? They should have seen them walking down the street with the booze. Oh, and don't forget the off-duty cops hanging out with her trying to liquor her up?
They will get it too, the lawyers they have hired are one of the most ruthless in the city.

I've always said this. LAWYERS are Fuckin' LEECHES. They tell you they can help and slowly bleed away all of your money. If I was in that room I would have shot the lawyer twice and threw the fuckin' empty gun at him. They all "SUCK" I hate them . Well now I've vented and feel better.

The building owner should beat them to the punch and sue for damage to the skylight and any lost buisness revenue due to the drunk teenagers actions. LAWYERS SUCK!

Ummmm...WRONG! Having installed skylights before, they will break if you fall into them. They are, after all, glass. Just has to be hit at the right angle, the correct amount of force, or with enough weight and they will crack open like an egg.

Here we go again with the blame game. There is only ONE person to blame for this whole sequence of events...the young lady herself. SHE chose to lie to her parents about where she was going that night (I doubt they knew she was there), SHE chose to go to the roof of a building where she didn't belong, SHE chose to drink alcohol with her friends, and SHE chose to remain in an unsafe situation. At some point you are old enough to make decisions. Parents are the ones to decide when that happens; some allow their children to do this at the age of seven by allowing them to roam the streets all hours of the night/day, while others wouldn't let their 16 y.o. out of their sight. Her parents trusted her enough to let her go out, but unfortunately she probably needed more supervison than they thought. When we begin to blame everything and everyone else in our lives for our own mistakes, we in essence take any responsibility away from our own actions. We create the illusion that we can escape culpability because there is always someone else at fault, i.e. because the skylight was improperly installed, the girl died, or because someone sold her alcohol, the girl became intoxicated and lost her balance and died, and so on. It is unfortunate that this society has become so consumed with being righteous that when a person who is control of their faculties does the wrong thing, he/she and their family points the finger in every direction except where it belongs.

I do not know whether or not you are a whore. I do know I am not a criminal. I also know that I have never tried to profit from someone elses misfortunes, nor have I ever stood at 26th and California and pimped for bond slips.
