- D/C T.S. came up with the new plan for ALL of Area 2, and it is for ALL the teams, gang and tact. When you are on relief, you will do three 2000-0430's, then three 1000-1830's. That is set in stone.
She also came up with the set DOG, so no weekends, and they change the set day off each period, and again, with no weekends.
When she was confronted by ALL 5 of the District D/C's - she told them "tuff". It is a done deal.
Allegedly, two tact teams from within the area put in their par forms/to-froms to leave...She said that is fine, she will man her plan if it takes doing it with PPO's and 1 year wonders.
She just went up a spot in the running for Cline's job....
Who's got the inside info on this one? Sounds like a bunch of unhappy people down south all of the sudden. Anything that used to be a good deal on this job keeps getting burned by the bosses for some reason.

Why do grown men and women whine about such nonsense, if you don't like the policy and DOG, hour changes bid out to another area, district,unit or go back on the watch. Tac and Gangs are for idiots in this "Era of Hangings"
SCC, You need to start a new thread about what's going on in Area 5. Word is Mike Landando, one of the better homicide detectives in Area 5, spoke out over Mark "I'm Fucking Drunk" Vail's preferential treatment of Tim "My Mom's Married to Terrible Tommy Byrne" McDermott and John Foolino and he is now getting dumped for it.
The old Area 4 Regime of Mark Hawkins, Sam Cirone, Mark Vail, and Bill Whalen even called back Dean The Queen to come to the aid of Vail. The problem is Landando spoke up for 8 other homicide detectives who also felt that Vail's bullshit is causing much derision, but only Landando is getting punished for it. Dean "The Queen" said he would have dumped "all of the detectives who are displeased with Vail."
When Sam Cirone was informed by all the disgruntled detectives regarding Vail's bullshit Cirone stated, "Just suck up and don't say anything." Of course when you have been given shit your whole career like Cirone and Dean Andrews you don't know what it's like to earn anything so you treat everyone like shit. Hopefully Joe Salemme cleans house and gets rid of all of Dean's Fuck Ups.

Please explain to me why anyone would stay on a district tact/gang team? If they are doing this stuff in A/2 it is only a matter of time before A/3, 4, 5, and 1 all have it happen to them. You guys on tact teams need to jump ship now so us PPO's can get a chance to drive cool unmarked cars. Unformtunately we don't know the first thing about police work since we have only been on the job for one year but give us a chance, we won't disappoint you Dep S.

Maybe if your not OFF every weekend you won't be hanging out at bars getting into fights.......giving this Dept a bad name!
D/C wants at least two teams working nights in each district every day and one team on days. If relief team works 2000 to 0430 and doubles back the next day on days, the team works 1200 to 2030 hrs, not 1000 to 1830. No change in day off groups. Day off groups for tact and gang set by order on a city-wide basis.

This new change will bit the brass in the ass. You will get all the good tact/gang guys going back to the watch. It's already hard to fill some spots on tact/gang teams in the District. If I remember correctly, wasn't there a memo regarding officer's with less than three years on the job could not work plain clothes. So how are they going to fill the open spots. This Department will back fill by reverse senority, putting officer's just off probation in plain clothes. Yea they may be full of energy and want to make the arrest, but do they know how to control themselves. This is when the new officer's will either get into BIG trouble and go to jail or worse, be carried out of a church by 6 of their senior officer's. Remember, protect yourself and your partner and go home to you family at the end of eight. This is only a job now..
Blago is trying to sneak through a education bill. In that bill is a an amendment which would make our pensions taxible.

The day off groups are being changed the order on a city wide basis is being changed in A/2. No more weekends. M/T; T/W; W/T will be the day off groups for tact and gang teams. All teams work weekends with a team working 0300-1030 hrs. So there will be 24 hr coverage.
Set day off groups with no weekends. C/U only 1 per team and must be approved by D/C office.
thats why morale is so fucking low because no one sticks together!

You, JACK-ASS sound like you'd make a perfect boss in the future. In case you haven't noticed, tact & gang teams are NOT off every weekend. They are in day off groups, just like the rest of the watches. You sound like a disgruntled hand-job who either was refused to be given a tact spot or dumped because you are an idiot!
In A/2 We don't have enough unmarked cars for this new proposal. The new added mid-night gang teams need extra cars. Then gang/tact are short. I think we just need a new approach and not talking about the "soft" kinder police either.
The tact/gang bosses want us to lock up bullshit arrest. They play the number games every week and period. They go to the D.O.C. meetings then come back and yell at the Sgt's and then it rolls down to us. We rather be out the conducting narcotic mission, robbery mission, and burglary missions along with looking for wanted fucks for agg. bats or homocides. We don't get to really do that anymore. Don't go outside the DOC where told. What about the other parts of the district? Everything is a mission besides what is really needed. They would have us bring in a drinker in the DOC rather than an offender from the other side of the district. Win-win not the situation.
Well, when was the last time you wore you BDU's in the district? They don't want us looking like the Gustapo the mean po-po. It does have a pyschological advantage. Alot of police departments are required to wear the BDU's as a tactical uniform in addition to plain clothes. I know there would be opposition to wearing this for field work. Just a thought because we are known to be the "softer", "kinder", police.
Which is bullshit.
Cool! Now we will finally have some boots on the ground, on the watches, which should be staffed before anything else....So much for tact and gang...

Im going out on a limb here and guess that you are relatively new on the job. If you want to work every weekend, you, sir, should be sent to psych evaluation asap. This is a JOB. Tact used to be great...do your work, then take it easy. If you only have a year on, you don't know how to work yet, and don't know that your SHOULD take it easy. Crime was here long before you came, and it'll be here long after you leave.
TS was commander of 007. She was clueless then and she is clueless now. Got to love the Peter Principle. Of course in her case she was promoted beyond her ability when she became a P.O..

Whatever happened to the 3 year requirement for working plain clothes? While I commend the 1 and 2 year coppers for wanting to be aggressive, the fact is they are too inexperienced to be working out of uniform and running free. Unfortunately if the older guys do jump ship and they do start staffing by reverse, we will have another Mike Ceriale incident and the blood will be on T.S.'s hands. So in closing, I am pleading to you personally T.S., please think about what you are trying to impliment, give those who will learn to be good coppers a chance. Anybody who's been to one funeral has been to too many.

I am a tact. guy in 011, I do not consider myself or any tact. or gang team "Elite". I have noticed that the work we perform has degraded from hunting to gathering,in other words,we are ordered to go after quantity not quality. It is an old tactic of the brass to inflate numbers to be able to say,"look, we made Whatever #'s of arrests and we are holding down the crime stats". It's all B.S. Numbers do not equal crime reduction, it's just a smoke and mirrors ploy to make someone look like they are in control.We have been leashed and if you new guys think you can do anything different in this situation you are plain wrong. You use derogatory terms like "Bitches" to descibe us and you reveal alot about yourself,namely a general lack of classe. I urge you to put in for a tact. or gang team,it's not impossible,you can do it,you know how to file a to-from don't you?

I heard the Area 4 D/C's office is looking at this in an effort to improve coverage once schools let out. Word is that this will be tried on a limited basis in 010 and 011 to see what impact it will have on crime and what impact it will have on people leaving the teams.

The higher up you go in any department/government, the less you do/the more fall guys you have below you/the more times you can say you didn't know/the more times you can blame somebody else/the better you can cover your tracks/..THE SAFER YOU ARE! Nothing will EVER change people...shit Al Capone built Chicago to begin with....Maybe shit will change for a little while, when the heat is on, but for the most part, Chicago will always run the way it has. I couldn't agree more! I work on a tact team in A/2, and to all you 3 year wonders who have done it all & have seen it all, get your head out of your asses! Go to a V.I.S.E. meeting at HQ's and watch what a circle jerk that is. ALL THEY CARE ABOUT ARE N U M B E R S ! They compare arrest statistics from this year to the previous year and hopefully your district will have an increase in arrests. Thy DO NOT CARE what the arrests are for. Thus, the quantity over quality rule is definitely in place. We have not been affected too bad with the changing in hours, but if it gets bad enough, I have 20+ and will go to straight days, and that ignorant fat-fuck Tina can kiss my ass! If htey're looking to clean house of tact/gang, this will effectively do it. I have been in patrol my entire career ao I cherish when my weekends roll around. Put me in a straught group with weekdays off, adios. Why is it these pompous fucks who make these decisions (Skahill, Williams) are the ones who have veerrry little time in patrol in a district. 20+ yrs and 17+ on a watch in uniform. I'm relatively new to this tact team, but to me it's just a job. The higher-ups have effectively fucked with the morale of a whole lot of decent coppers.

The day gang team works 1430-2300 hrs when the night gand team is off.
Who's going to handle all the court deviations when these kids can't make it to court daily on two hours of sleep? They'll end up getting dumped because they'll be put in behavorial intervention due to the court deviations, due to the lack of sleep, due to the Deputy Chief who never was, and never will be the police. What was her quote when asked about early out to attend the St. Jude's March? That also was a classic. Another classic example of the past three and one half years of non-leadership. Promotion of ass-kissers and friends to positions they're incapable of handling, or don't have the experience to. What happened to the old unwritten rule of two years in grade as a sergeant before a return to a specialized unit? And we wonder why Cline will have a legacy of corruption? Morale at an all time low, because none of the bosses could care less about the troops, most of the bosses made in the past three years were never the police, hence our wonderful Deputy Chief in Area 2 amongst a number of others... Hey dont forget the $600+ entrance fee to be on tact and gang! One of the orders says you HAVE to have the BDU's and ninja outfits (out of your own pocket). And yes, there is that order circulating that you have to have 3+ years for tact and gang.
Let them try and fill by back seniority and have someone file a beef saying I don't have the time per the order and I'm not spending my own $$$ to comply with the uniform order; so sorry, you can't put me on tact/gangs.

you are so right, nobody thinks before making life endangering decisions. Someone has to start to care about these young inexperienced officers. When I came on this job I had no idea about a lot of things and I am so grateful that experienced caring officers embraced me and shared their knowledge and experience so that 14 years later I can continue to do my job alive and well.
Instead of quitting the Tact/Gang teams just submit a "To/From" stating you no longer volunteer for tact/gangs and want assignment to the watch. If this is done enmasse, and their are no takers and they leave you on tact/gangs the dept. has to pay you time and a half because you are no longer a volunteer. This is in the contract use it for your advantage, and by the way NO MORE HEADS!!!!!!

Hey DICKHEAD, where did you get the idea that tact & gang teams are off every weekend?? They are in a DAY OFF GROUP. You are probably a 2 year wonder in HQ cuz you love sucking off the bosses! I've been in patrol on the streets in a rotating day off group for over 20 years. They wanna do away with my weekends, I'll move on. That simple. If the reason is "crime patterns", then the whole department should be in straight day off groups and NO ONE will be off friday saturday or sunday. To these ass-wipes that would make perfect sense.

Obviously someone else on this blog has a clue-and probably worked in 002 in the 80's when it was worse than 011. Back then, TS was a kickass cop and every working copper there knew it. Even then, people hoped she'd make superintendent and straighten out this department.

Most real tact guys get that you need to work weekends when most of the work needs to be done. If you don't like it, get another job.

I didn't realize that there were so many disgruntled P.O.'s turned down for the tact team. One D.O.P.W. is still more work than every jealous shit talker on this post has done in a week. Check out what Districts other bosses commanded before making statements about Skahill having "little time in patrol."
Ask Egan, Cline, Risley and Cronin what Districts THEY commanded...only Risley took a District, and that was 001.
I can even understand why Shakill wants the teams out there so late...it's just that the hours are killing the guys who have to man those teams. Family life is by far THE MOST IMPORTANT THING.
