And again, bad guy to hospital, cops home safe:
- A Chicago police officer shot and wounded a man who threatened to shoot the officer in a South Side apartment Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.
At about 4:19 p.m., police responded to a call about shots fired in the 8900 block of South Baltimore Avenue, said police spokeswoman Monique Bond.
Good job guys. Does anyone have the totals for the year? Is it just us or do officer involved shootings seem to be getting a little more play this year? Are they up?

OFF TOPIC; I noticed that CFE TAGMEN has removed from their online list of CPD ribbon, The newly approved "Perfect Attendance" ribbon. This ribbon was approved June 2007 by some idiot that don't have a clue, perhaps someone has gotten to the dwellers of the Ivory Towers regarding the offensive ribbon.
I agree with you SCC, they (police shootings)do seem to be on the rise as of late, and they do seem to be getting more coverage in the news.
I say good for both - it is good that word gets out that the police in this city STILL have balls, and it is even better that the media reconizes the very dangerous aspect of this job. This ain't Mayberry.

004th dist beat car responded to shots fired, when they went in offender was standing over a male who was on the floor pointing a revolver at him ,pos ordered him to drop his weapon at which time he turned and pointed in their direction and said im going to kill you, pos fired a total of 4 shots striking bad guy in the abdomin.

Offender hangs self in county jail.THIRD WATCH AREA ONE DICKS openly whine and cry about all the court/money & time they lost because of offender's suicide!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately, my input is not involved in the CPD ribbons. When a new one is issued I scramble to make/find it to sell aftermarket. Also, unfortunately, when I realized the similarity it crossed my mind that may not be a good idea, but I didn't say anything. Not that I would even have been able to, really. Reaching the person who makes these decisions is next to impossible. Perhaps, had we a better rapport, I might have mentioned this similarity and they might have changed it.
Hindsight, you know. The first "uprising" I received was an email yesterday. Then later an officer had called to order nametags and I asked him about this and he said to look on Second City.
I left a message for the person in the department that I sometimes have contact with, although he's out until July 23rd or so. I could try to contact someone above him, for what it's worth. In fact I will just send a fax and see what happens.
Also, for the record, I have not sold any of these. I just put it on the site when it was approved but do not have stock of them. I don't think the department has issued them yet either so there's a good possibility this can be changed.
Again, we never intended to insult or disrespect any Veteran, we're just one of the "little guys" trying to make a living, the Department, so far, does not buy these from us either, we sell them aftermarket. Please accept our apologies for unintended disrespect.

The shooting occurred about 4:55 a.m. at the 900 block of North Cleveland Avenue, according to police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro.
It has been awhile since I can recall 018 having this many shootings. Looks like it is really hopping over there.

In regards to the A/2 gang team shooting. It was only a matter of time that one of these bad guys were gonna get shot by one of those guys. They seem to be chasing someone every night. We are always glad to see them roaming in our district!

When did the TMAs become emergency vehicles? This occurred on 3 Jul 07 at Approx 1420 hrs. There is a POD at 13th and Loomis and I'm sure it caught him.

That was about 10 yrs ago and I was one of the guys that worked that case. That comment was made by some Det's "tongue and cheek," laughingly because the piece of shit police-killer took the chicken shit way out..You are a jagoff for trying to cause some shit over a inconsequential comment..I still don't get how that comment means we're all not on the same side.I'm now on 3rd watch in A/1 and know myself and most others will go out of our way to help out any P/O that needs it on a case,make any Police-involved shootings as smooth as possible for the participant(s), back them up on street stops, and go in on calls, especially if we hear 1 car going on an in-progress.
