I fear that all this negative press and public opinion on the west-side MAY place some hesitation in the minds of some of our officers.

1. The bodies of young men have been stacking up on the block where your "church" stands for years do to the local drug economy. When was the last time you protested those?
2. When you presided over the wake and burial how much did you charge?
3. When was the last time yourself and the congregation stood on the block to prevent the drugs from being sold?
4. If you are so interested in the safety and well being of the neighborhood, when was the last time you attended a CAPS meeting? remember there are sign in sheets so we will double check your answers.
5. Also as an individual so concerned with the crime in your area, you obviouisly must be a resident of the area, where do you lay down at night rev? I'll bet your phone has a 630/708/847 in front of it.
6. Now I would like to congratulate you for holding a labor strike for the extent of your life...as we all know you haven't done an ounce of work yet. To rev sharkton...may I suggest a hunger strike? you look a little round in the middle. and finally to my favorite guy jesse may I suggest an oral strike, give your voice a much needed break.

After roll call, while assigned to a third watch power (1800-0230 hrs.) car in 011 during the summer of '68, Capt. Phil Moss intoduced partner Rick Miller and I to a media ride-along--reporter Ed Rooney of the old Chicago Daily News.
No sooner did we hit the street, the old Zone 4 radio was humpin' with a cacophony of "in-progress" calls, cuttings, shootings, robberies-in-progress and yes, 10-1's. Half the tour, with our siren wailing, blue light flashing, weapons often drawn with cocobolo batons at our side, we sped through 011, responding to assist our brothers.
By mid-tour, a visibly shaken Mr. Rooney, "sweating bullets", said that he had had enough. We dropped him off at 4001. A great featured article then appeared in the paper about "keepin' it real in Fillmo'" (my words).
My point being, with this stifling heat and humidity, it would be an ideal time for a news editor to "go for a spin" in "the Wild Kingdom".
I still look back on Mr. Rooney's "mindfuck" and laugh my ass off. Perhaps someone at Fort Kool-Aid could extend a "prime time" invitation to the newspapers.

A Forest Park man has been charged in an alleged road-rage incident against an off-duty Chicago police officer.

Pfleger said he noticed the damage Tuesday afternoon and said it looked as if something had been dropped on top of the roof. He called the roofing company immediately and the workers went up a catwalk into a small church attic area. Inside the attic, they saw 500-pound concrete slabs loose and hanging from the underside of the roof. After that, engineers inspected the damage and advised Pfleger to close the church.

Talk about a coward. If you did your job, SOS would not be in your district. I truly believe you are not a police officer at all. Go hide under your bed and let the police handle this.
I worked the Bud Biliken mess a couple years ago and hopefully never again. They actually had the newer officers working 99 on each corner which I thought was incredibly dangerous, with fights breaking out all over. To the younger officers, don't be suckered into a fight 99. Use your radio and get help before taking any action. This parade is a sight to behold. The only thing close to this mess is the Southside Irish mess. That too is another parade that should be ended.

The very people who complain about the police are the ones who use their services the most. How did these half assed Revs become so powerful that the are on the podium with the highest politicians in the city? The sad part is that blacks have the freedom to get a free education, and become a productive part of society. Having worked in the school system for many years I know that education is not a priority with many (not all) parents. Many are on drugs and have numerous men in and out of their lives and the lives of their children. These racist so called leaders are telling the ignorant blacks what they want to hear.....that it's all whity's fault. If not for him, you could have it all. It's easier to believe that and sit on your ass living in Section 8 housing and being a parasite on society than to have to go to work every day and be responsible for your life and that of your children. I gotta say this has hit a new low. I've worked in sos for 4 years now. I've showed up to work day in and day out getting sent to a different district each day and always looking forward to the challenge the new scenery provided.
Whoever posted this should be ashamed of themselves. Have bad apples rolled out of the 3rd floor in the last few years, yes there have. Are they with us any longer, no they are not. If you will also notice, we haven't worked in 011 in a long time. Perhaps 2 week long stints in the last 8 months. So i'd say the current state of things is a result of your inability to control your constituents. There is perhaps some risidual resentment from people that used to work in SOS, but I'd say its more from those that don't get the service they think they deserve.
On another note, no drug dealing gangbanger likes to be stopped, that is fact and if you ever got out of your squad car you would know this. Aggresive policing equals community resentment, that is a fact. SOS is a head unit which equals aggressive police tactics which in turn equals community resentment.
It all makes sense if you truly analyze the situation.
One last clarification, there are a few SOS teams working in 19 and 23 to help catch the rapist/s that are lurking up there. Its called a reallocation of resourses that for once actually makes sense. Actual crime, actual criminals and real victims, something 011 or 010 have very few of. Finally the true taxpayers get some service. Some might say its too little too late.
