Snakes in a Park
NOBLE, Okla. — A stray bullet fired by a police officer trying to shoot a snake hit and killed a 5-year-old boy fishing at a nearby pond, officials said.
Aside from the obvious lessons of situational awareness, being aware of what's down range, and overly poor judgment in what will undoubtedly be deemed criminal negligence, why would we even bring up a story like this?
Seems the 011 District captured an 8 foot long snake prowling the area of Garfield Park this past week. Initial report have it as a constrictor of some sort, probably an escaped pet. If you run across a snake, don't shoot it without considering all the possibilities. But as far as we saw this week, no news reports.
Lots of coverage on the ticketing of the wienermobile though.

Did anyone else notice how the media is posting a sketch all over of a white man wanted for one ATTEMPT CSA in Lakeview?
Yet the HISPANIC male wanted for the ACTUAL CSA's is never described nor has a sketch been shown.
Nice that our local media is endangering peoples safety in an attemt to stay PC.

Luther Green, a North Lawndale resident all of his 60 years, sat on a broken slab of concrete Thursday afternoon, behind a group of men playing dominoes in an alley. He said it seems nowadays the police view every person on the block as a criminal, and the people on the block see every officer as a crook.
He knows neither extreme is true. But he knows there's tension on these residential streets, and he feels it grow each day as people spill onto the porches and sidewalks, escaping the August heat that makes apartments unbearable.
Green worries about his neighborhood.
People and police are on edge, and he's savvy enough to know that around here, both sides have guns.
"I'm afraid they're going to push these boys so hard they're going to start going after the police," Green said, shaking his head in dismay. "They better do something about this. And they better do something about this quick."

I agree! In this congested city "they're" everywhere. As posted here recently, do the minimum in "their" neighborhoods.
If one of "them" sees a snake,dont take a chance of starting a riot by letting your stray bullit hit one of the unparented strays runnin amuck.

A South Side man holding a gun was found shot to death early Thursday in the middle of a street near his home in the Englewood neighborhood, Chicago police said.
Shortly after 1 a.m., police were flagged down by a driver who spotted Gerald Wilson lying in the street near Emerald Avenue and 72nd Street. Wilson's shirt was covered in blood, and he had been shot in his chest and grazed on a forearm, police said.

How funny would have that been to see though, if it happened?? First, let me say that I would never would want or wish any ill will or any harm to any PO's, but, I think I would have paid to see the desk crew faced with this situation. To see their "Oh shit" faces would have been priceless.

My heart goes out to the family of a little boy who was fishing with his grandfather and now he is dead.
