Here Comes the New OPS
- The Los Angeles attorney hired to restore public confidence in investigations of police wrongdoing disclosed Friday that she inherited an 85-employee department with 20 vacancies.
So evidently, they're going to be hiring soon. The best part of the article is as follows:
In her first in-depth interview since taking over the $145,836-a-year job, Rosenzweig said she plans to appear at police roll-calls to introduce herself to rank-and-file officers.
She'll tell them that an agency long accused of being too cozy with the Police Department -- and too protective of wayward officers -- will have zero tolerance for both police wrongdoing and bogus complaints.The same message will be carried to community leaders. But Rosenzweig is under no illusions about the time it will take for that message to be believed.

Oh lordy, this woman has a bunch to learn about how Chicago operates. Maybe she ought to have a little sit down with Hoffman who is just now discovering that when he showed the slightest sign of independence, Daley tried to cut him off at the knees by creating a parallel investigatory body. Hoffman has shown some balls by bending the rules a bit (not directly investigating aldercreatures, but rather how they get elected), but even that took some doing.
And the "zero tolerance" for bogus complaints? Pardon us again for a moment - hahahahaha! Hahahahaha! Wait - hahahahaha! Hey Ms Rosenzweig? Call over to Devine's office (he's the State's Attorney in these parts - used to the First Assistant when the Mayor was State's Attorney) and ask him how many prosecutions his office has put forward for false allegations against police officers.
We'll even give you a hint how many - ZERO!
And contrary to what the reverends and community activists might say, it isn't because every allegation made against the police is true.

She beleives obviously that this corrupt administration is legit! Someone needs to tell this little gal she is in over her head and she will be told by the daley crew exactly who to go after, if they are clouted in she will do nothing but shut her pie hole!
Personally, I don't even think they have offered her enough in salary to take on such a shitty job. $140 g's just ain't enough to sift through all the garbage. I give her no more than 18 months.

Well one thing is for sure, I don't think she took the job because she felt like she needed the job.
As I seem to recall, this woman came from Munger, Tolles, an LA law firm.
This is one of the premium law firms in the country, and the top firms are paying entry level lawyers 160K to start.
The "Munger" in Munger, Tolles is Warren Buffett's right-hand man and assessor of risk.
So no, if she came from there to take the job, my guess is that she actually would care to do the job right.
And it will be interesting to see what leverage little Richie will actually have over her, insofar as it would seem that she does not actually need this particular job.

First, I agree that she is facing an uphill battle. But, I'm sure she knows that. You're not the exclusive member to the obvious! Everybody in government jobs knows that Chicago is corrupt. And second, she will shut her pie hole? Are you kidding? You're wife must really be thankful when you're out of the house.

The dept,contrary to media reports is not rogue and out of control corrupt.The problem lies in the volume of complaints leveled against the dept,which is enourmous.
In this setting the few really bad police can roam freely knowing that the caseload on the investigators is extraordinary.
I wish her luck and hope she can uncover bad guys before they become headlines.

4.She should understand we are severly understaffed and hold our bosses at 35th street accountable for a hostile work environment.
If she hits an impasse it should comfort her she has good people to confide in for advice in the likes of PATRICK FITZGERALD,or DAVID HOFFMAN,with whom the little guy has to already tried to de-nut.Her staff is decimated and needs to have intelligent,competant individuals whom we hope would be brought in from the outside.

I would hope that none of the officers who will see Ms. Rosenzweig at roll call would be so ignorant as to "turn their backs on her" as she addresses the troops. Can anyone here recall when ANY head of IAD or OPS in the past actually came out to a District and spoke to any of us in a group setting? I can't either.
She's definitely starting out the right way. She should also hear some of the beefs the rank and file AND supervisors have about our current system of investigating complaints. Who knows, maybe she can actually make it BETTER. But please, be respectful when/if she happens to visit your unit. Like it or not, she's in charge, at least for the forseeable future.

Chicago needs to be de-Baathified...
Did anyone see the rules on anyone you lock up? The rules are per charlie williams all prisoners property will be inventoried except for up to %500 in cash, and they get 1 piece of id, and we will have more "integrity checks", why charlie is another news story in the works? You and most of the other exempts are really fucking up this dept bad no wonder killings are up! GED's Rule no not the GD"S the ged's! "Did you take the act exam?", "no gots my ged already" Heard in exempt meeting!
