Aldercreature Follies

  • Ald. Tom Tunney (44th) said today he called a police commander after getting pulled over last week for using his cell phone while driving to question why officers in an “understaffed police district” with serious unsolved crimes are “assigned to pull people over solely for cell phone violations.”

Well aldercreature Tunney, the reason we enforce the law is because YOU IDIOTS PASSED IT INTO LAW!

What the fuck is going on in this city? Nanny state gone wild! The typical liberal thinking that someone somewhere knows what's best for you and by golly, they're going to pass a law to make sure you don't hurt yourself:
  • don't use the hair dryer in the tub
  • warning labels on cigarettes and alcohol
  • motorcycle/bicycle helmet laws
  • "assault weapons" ban
  • aldercreature Burke's drive to ban transfats
  • Foie-fucking-Gras anyone?
Here's a damn clue - stop passing bullshit laws that do nothing except make busy bodies feel self righteous about forcing everyone else to live by their rules. Trust us, we know cigarettes and alcohol are bad for us, toxic even. If we CHOOSE to pollute our bodies, that's our business. Whatever hair we have left LIKES to blow around in the wind when we ride the bike. Passing laws against guns because the guns look scary (a bayonet lug, a flash suppressor, give us a fucking break) and telling us it's all for the children? Grow up - Junior is holding a gun for the gang and he isn't following your rules. The only people you are disarming are the law abiding. And as for the transfat ban, think of all the money you jagoffs are saving in pension payouts by us kicking off early - not that you've made any effort to fund the pension at even 50% of liabilities.

You want us to stop enforcing stupid laws, stop passing stupid laws. And to everyone who is claiming Tunney is a friend of the police:
  • The favored treatment that Town Hall District Cmdr. Gary Yamashiroya then gave to his local alderman Friday is now the subject of an investigation by the Chicago Police Department’s Internal Affairs Division.

Tunney insisted he never asked for the favor. But, the fact that Yamashiroya offered a service that is not available to everyday motorists could end up landing the district commander in hot water.

First up, we'll call bullshit on the "never asked for a favor." That's the FIRST thing Tunney asked for - if not in words, then by making the call. Why else would Yamashiroya send out an officer with the aldercreature's license? A favor.

Second, Tunney is hanging a Commander of Police out to dry. What's Yamashiroya going to do? Call the aldercreature a liar? Nope. He's going to eat shit, smile, probably ask for seconds if he wants to keep his spot. If that ticket hasn't been non-suited already, we'd be surprised. And if Tunney says he paid it, we'll bet no one from the media asks to see the canceled check or County receipt.

If it goes down any differently that that, we'll send the first 10 readers to point it out to us a shiny new dime.

Useless law but how about every one else given this citation. let be fair and treat every one equally. If Tunney walked every one shoud get a refund.

I hate to say this, and only because "Yama" is one of ours. But Commander you are in your spot because of politics. And Politics have utterly destroyed this department inside and out.
You have been bitten buy your own.
I feel for this bullshit pressure you have to experiance, but this is your crowd now showing its colors.

Since you started this firestorm when the ST reporter read your blog, perhaps you can answer a couple of questions:

1). Since when do you care if a commander has to eat shit...once or twice?

2). Are you a homophobe or...?There are several postings from cops who know Tunney who like him. What's your beef (pun intended)?

so a commander is going to boil in hot water because he didn't tell an alderman to piss off? And how is this the police's fault? Can IAD investigate the alderman, seeing as how he is technically sworn? Thank god my shirt is blue.

An I bond is no big deal for a traffic stop. Sir/Ma'am if u need your license back follow me to the station. Just ask them. This isn't a big deal. I've read your post and the responses will be comical. He's not some shithead with a revoked license or no valid insurance. You don't know your alderman? Please give me a break. Thanks officer for creating this nonsense. Tool. Have I summed this up enough. 2 more posts tops.

Be safe gents.

Since you started this firestorm when the ST reporter read your blog, perhaps you can answer a couple of questions:

Sure thing!

1). Since when do you care if a commander has to eat shit...once or twice?

We don't. Not even if they eat it a hundred times. We were merely pointing out that to make rank, you have to compromise. And the higher you go, the more you sell out your soul. And no one should be surprised when a creature with no soul whatsoever (i.e. a politician) stabs you in the back

2). Are you a homophobe or...?There are several postings from cops who know Tunney who like him. What's your beef (pun intended)?

And we published every one of them. We aren't sure what you're asking here. We're supposed to censor out the posts supporting Tunney? How does that make us homophobic? Ad nauseum attacks on gays are discarded as a matter of course, same as those against females, jews, blacks, hispanics. Most readers have learned that. We appreciate the more subtle humor, but we got a lot more positive feedback than not by losing the bullshit.

Hope to be joining you shortly, thanks for your service.

Who says Tunnery is a friend to the Police????? The guy is an arrogant JO!!! He thinks the police are his lapdog and treats them like redheaded step children.

I've dealt with him more than a few times. He is a total jerk!!! Remember his office is on the 019th Dist side not 023. He pulls POs off the street to come in and kiss his ring. The foot guys at Belmont and Sheffield have their heads so far up Tunneys ass they can taste !@&*$%#.

Remember this and it cannot be disputed. Alderman Tunney had a certain Tact officer from 023 moved off the team after he started doing search warrants all over boys town and arresting leaders of the gay community. The arrests actually hit the news a few times. Tunney tried to sandbag the officer at first but, since the officer is gay he just had him moved to a supposed better spot.

That officer is now suing the city and Tunney. He is currently back in 023 on the day shift.

Ald Tunney answer this question. A gay officer who is clean cut was taking out the drugs that ruin lives. The drugs that ruined lives were in your gay community and being distributed right on Halsted street. He was solving crimes and helping the community. What did it get him?????? I along with most officers from Area 3 know what happened to that officer. I guess will go back to writing cell phone movers. The police work wasn't worth the effort or hassle. Tunney you are two faced liar!!!!!!!

Gimme a break. There are so many people talking on phones in the city limits you could do seat belt safety missions and be guaranteed to write better than half. Drive down Milwaukee any given day or night. Nearly every Pole has a phone glued to their pirogi ear. Everybody in 016 passes them by, is at lights next to them. No problem. The cell phone ban is a revenue maker for the city. That is all. If you choose to write one odds are you will eventually snag a lawyer, cop, minister, someones mouthy wife or kid, or alderpimp. Who needs the hassle? Look how many people get affected and how much blog space is wasted over this.

Who cares. This stuff goes on every day and we all do it. The real question here is who ratted out. Who called the press- and possibly collected a tip $$$- and brought this to light.

Hey, I'd give anyone a decent break or a favor. They do come back sometimes. But the rat who called is dangerous. Today he rats out the commander, tomorrow he rats you out. All so he can look in the mirror and tell him/herself he/she is a big moral, ethical hero.

The alderman is right on this one, we do have more pressing issues to deal with. That is why I will not write one of these stupid tickets or any other ticket for that matter. Call the police and I will give you a report. That's it, that's what the city wants that's what the city's going to get. Until this anti-police society we live in wakes the f*ck up and realizes that we are actually the good guys and stops bashing us for every little thing that the rest of society does on a daily basis I'm going to go deal with those more pressing issues. Let's see should it be Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts today?

IF YOU SEE SEISER DRIVING OFF DUTY AND TALKING ON HIS CELL PHONE. MY SUGGESTION IS THIS. DO NOT WRITE HIM A TICKET. HE IS PROBALLY ON THE PHONE TALKING TO PRSEIDENT BUSH, DIRECTORS OF BOTH THE CIA,AND NSA OR HE COULD BE TALKING TO THE JOINT CHIEF OF STAFF. SEISER IS FROM NEW YORK CITY AND HAS BIG NATIONAL POLITICAL CLOUT. EVEN ERIC PRINCE PRESIDENT OF BLACKWATER SECURITY CONFERS WITH HIM AND WHY BECAUSE ALL THESE IMPORTANT PEOPLE I MENTIONED KNOW ONE THING, ' SEISER RUNS IT".

Of all the bullshit things to do.....write the friggen alderman a ticket for talking on the cell phone??Look sometimes I wish the cell phone had never been invented.I've yelled at dumb assholes driving to an in progress, blue lights and fast, while yakking away on the phone.I had the pleasure of sitting next to a few cops having heated domestics all tour long.......one dingbat threw her phone at the windshield of the car and let out a scream......I think she cried for a good half hour.Coppers who talk at crime scene.Coppers who have to give their boyfriend/girlfriend an update of the tour every 15 minutes.Coppers making 15 calls to see who's going drinking and where.Fuck all that.....Until a general order comes out banning the use of cell phones at work I will NEVER write anyone a ticket for doing what EVERY PO does regularly(and yeah,I get calls while at work, but I try to be considerate of partners and watch out for safety problems).

I know and support the 023 district officer who wrote the alderman.

After all..why should the Ald. be given a break? He helped draft the legislation!

Many officer's won't even extend "courtesy" to other officers anymore..then you have a P.O. on here calling the officer who wrote the citation a "tool," screw you right back. You probably owe your spot to some politician or kiss ass group (LAPA,GAPA,Sho-rim, etc.) take your pick!

I know the officer, he ain't perfect..but as a no clout P.O. he works and when he "steps in shit" he deals with it..like a man! He doesn't run to mommy or daddy like a lot of you do!!!!

I totally disagree. I live in the 18th and more then once as I'm crossing the street with the light in my direction green, I've almost been hit by drivers on the phone. It's just frigging dangerous to talk and drive, especially in a big city like Chicago. Bottom-line, the law is on the books and it's the officers job to enforce the law. There is every likelihood that if the officer heard on the radio or observed a higher priority offense he would have bugged off the Alderman and told him not to do it again and gone on to the more important offense.

Tunney attempts to brainwash clear thinking people when he says he called the 23rd district commander to ask why he was ticketed for such a minor infraction in such an understaffed district with more important crimes about.

I find that statement to be total Barbara Striesand. Why? Because if that's why Tunney called the 23rd Cmdr. why didn't he call a second time to complain about the wasted police resources in making the special delivery return of his license? I'm quite sure if Tunney had called in to the 23rd Dist. a 2nd after his special delivery he would have made it his business to tell every one that in his Tuesday public CYA statement.

Respectfully,
DW

I don't think I've ever seen more inane ordinances passed than in the last 10 years or so by the city of Chicago.

My parents were born and grew up in the city, I was born there as were all my siblings, and 3 of them have moved back to Chicago as adults.

I don't give them grief about the high crime rates or cost of living inside the wire. I just laugh at some of the crazy shit your elected officials do. As bad as they are in the NW burbs, they're worse down there by far.

It happens every day and we accomodate them. SO WHAT if someone went to Tunney's office with the bond book. I can't see why we wouldn't do it , I know it is a political move, and you all complain about how commanders are political etc, but THAT IS THE JOB, we are constantly doing things for political purposes. Doing this is only Standard operating procedures, and it is such a minor thing, that the biggest insanity is that - it was in the news at all, and then actually ON THE FRONT PAGE??? insane.
