- Huge rumor coming out of HQ this evening. Da Mayor is going to make the announcement on Monday after the AIBA boxing tournament leaves town. The new Superintendent and 1st Deputy will be introduced. The latest rumor from a pretty good source has Grau as big boss and Dugan as 1st. This is a pretty good combo if you asked me.
And that isn't the only one. We have tips of an outsider taking over (Fong as the front runner from San Francisco). We have Maher as the insider winning the spot. The regular Keating as First rumors are everywhere.
We're sure some of it is agitators muddying up the waters. And someone pointed out a connection between a former Chicago exempt and the PERF people that, if true, really ought to raise a boatload of red flags for anyone expecting a fair and open process.
Remember, it's all BS until you see it on paper.

Is it just me, or does naming Grau make Daley look like a bigger moron than ever? I've heard Grau is a good guy and I like the fact it would stay in house. But why reject him months ago and ask for more names? If he's your guy, then he's your guy because he is without question the best qualified right? So there would be no need to ask for more names in the first place. This would make it look like he settled for Grau, which I feel is unfair to the guy.

This is the best part that no one seems to understand. Mickey Fucking Mouse could be the next supt and Super Mario could be 1st. It doesnt matter!!! From the top down. all police should undergo I.Q. and psychiatric testing to include the Stanford Binet, the Wechsler and the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI).
We have too many morons and sociopaths on the job already. No one would be shocked if Daley's pick would flunk them all.
Come to think of it, the mayor's track record, most notably with the LSAT and failed bar exams, cannot rule out that he too is a mentally dull psychopath.
We would just love to see Daley's MMPI scores.
Grau would be a good leader, and dugan heard good things this could work! But can they restore morale that is in the toilet? Will they support us and tell daley to take the puppet strings from their backs? Lets hope so! But again at my level I could give a shit who the clout bosses are!
This is obviouly BS. Don't know your source but it is bad. Applications are due to PERF today. Police Board or PERF will conduct interviews, do background checks and give 3 names to Daley. Don't look for Sup. until after first of year.

I agree with this approach,but it will fail for one reason.CORRUPTION.Plenty of depts and agencies USE these tests but its only a cover.The boards and merit commissions do not use the results,they still hire clout babies.

Oh and when the Mayor makes these introductions, Jerry Finnegan will be standing next to the Mayor a free man and promoted to Sgt. too.

Sergeants will follow orders from the commander. Including CR's and court deviations. Commander is aware of all activities in his unit. Ask his LTs. They freely admit he knew of activites. How could criminal activites go for so long without commander's knowledge? He is not that stupid. Interesting how everyone accused is cooperating?

perf also had the contract to run the search for the new OPS boss. the contract was extended to include the search for the new sup (see the contract for yourself on the city's website). im sure the search was very objective and there was no influence from the 5th floor.
