I MAKE SURE I PRAY EVERY DAY FOR MIKE. INSTEAD OF LISTENING TO TALK RADIO I MAKE MY SELF SAY THE OUR FATHER FOR MIKE ON THE WAY TO WORK. I PRAY FOR MY KIDS AND LOST RELATIVES AND GOOD GUYS KILLED ON THIS JOB I KNEW OR KNEW OFF. I PRAY FOR THE KIDS IN THE SERVICE.

THIS IS ALL I CAN DO AT THIS TIME.

I made a cash donation but it pisses me off this poor man is so help less. Therefore I make myself pray for Mike and I beg god or some other thing to protect Mike in his time of need.

And my us senator and congressman didnt respond to my letter asking for intervention.

You cannot overestimate the power of just YOUR brief note to let Mike know that YOU are thinking of him during this hellish ordeal.

Please take a few minutes to write. Let Mike know that he is in YOUR thoughts and prayers.

On behalf of Mike and his family, God bless YOU!

I'm writing a letter tomorrow and every day he wants a letter. I will drive down and visist him anyday he can have a visitor and so should all of us. Tank had a visistor every day he was in custody so we should get a schedule together and figure out who can go on which date. We have to do this for our brother who did what any and all of us would have done in his position.

Gov. C. Culver! Lt Gov. P. Judge, wheres your say so in this ruling, are you sleeping well ignoring this 6 thousand pound elephant that was in your room? do you have anything to say on this issue, someone reach out to these people and ask them why his sentence was not pardoned. This is a sickening injustice. i want to see what caliber of criminals recieve the sentence the M.Mette recieved. All batterys? i doubt it, im certain they are actual violent offenders. Gov. and Lt Gov you should be ashamed of yourselves.

is spot on.A wrongly accused man needs alot of support because the system will try and break his spirit.A brief letter of support will do tremendous good for Mikes mental well being.
A man in the know.

Don't know about Iowa, but here in Illinois, if you want to visit an IDOC prisoner, HE has to put you on his visitor list. Check it out & don't waste a trip down there, only to be turned away.

Anonymous Anonymous said...

There are certain systems that only allow so many visits per month (6). You have to be on the visitor list and pre-approved by the system. And remember that family members (and he is our brother) are going to take up the majority of those visits. I cannot tell you how important it is to get mail though. Sometimes it is the only contact an inmate has and gives a lot of hope inside where there is no hope.

I have a family member in IDOC. If it is similar to Iowa, just know that on your letters there cannot be any types of stickers(fear of LSD, etc), anything put in the envelope that could possibly be used as a weapon in any way, and no cash. My grandmother cried when she sent a letter with a small cross in it and they returned the entire thing because of "contraband".(the cross) Also keep in mind that police cannot associate with felons and unless you are family you cannot visit. In Illinois, most prisons only allow about 5 visits a month anyways and you have to be on a preapproved list. Although I do not know him, I am sure Mike would want to reserve these visits for family and close friends. Please all pray for him and drop him a letter. I am sure he would appreciate any type of support. Prison is hard for men who where the police -trust me, I know!!

Start sending the money to the mike Mette fund and not the police memorial fund. Why give fat Phil Cline and friends anymore of our money. I'm telling you he along with others are stealing, they are taking large pay checks yet only a few penny's per dollar is actually going to the cause.

I would not shit in the state of Iowa. No better then WI.

Zero tolarance on anyone from Iowa coming to the city.

I hope our Heavenly father gets Mike through this.

Of course they will, but on the other hand, it could be you and if this shit ever gets cleared up, Mike could be your partner one day. Not only that, you could be locked up for such bullshit as this yourself. Grow a pair, will you? Puss!

FYI, I hope you realize they are gonna go after you for ANYthing. I just want you to realize that the "department' is going to hang an officer any and every chance they get. Remember that and either go to work tomorrow or quit because you are scared. Up to you.

SCC, is there any way you can let us know (through his family) of we can send money orders to Mette?
I'm sure he would appreciate a few dollars here and there, and it would probably take whatever strain can be taken off the family, as I'm sure it will be an expensive hardship to drive down there and see him every month (gas, wear & tear on the car, motel room, meals, etc.) Hope you can post that up asap. I know I would be willing to send the guy a few bucks, and I'm sure a lot of others who read the blog would do the same thing. Also, keep us all apprised of any success with his appeal process if you would. Thanks. And to the Mette family, you are in my heart and prayers. Stay strong, this will not last forever. We are with you.

You should all be ashamed of yourselves, worthless fucks... I think it's finally time for all FOP members to quit paying dues.

The only FOP lodge in Iowa is Lodge 1 in Council Bluffs, across the Missouri River from Omaha and 330 miles west of Dubuque.

Write letters to Iowa Gov. Chet Culver while the appeal process drags on.

Write Mike to keep up his spirits.

SCC can you keep this post running all the time? Just as a constant with Mettes address and addresses of defense fund, politicians to write to and any correspondence from you or his fam? Like a couple of posters stated, cops (like me) need to be constantly reminded. If I keep a box of stamps and some paper here, when I check the site I can send off another letter to another senator, etc.

Having many years in Law Enforcement we have unfortunately seen too many CPD members go to prison. Hopefully Mike Mette is only there until his appeal is heard. Never in all the years has the CPD punished anyone for visiting a former member in prison. Look around, how many former CPD members and politicans have done their time and now have prominent jobs where off duty CPD members work for them And they were convicted of a crime unlike self-defense? Please just send letters at this time until Mike gets placed in a permanent facility where all the rules will be different.
Thanks

this is the perfect time for us to finally come together as a family, put aside all the petty bickering . the holidays are coming up and lets make our number 1 mission to show mike that he is not forgotten or alone. if everybody takes five minutes once a week to write mike a letter or a card, that will raise his spirits to no end and it will show him and the state of iowa that he is loved and not alone. lets also use this as an oppurtunity to reflect on whats truly important, our freinds, our family and just loving them and never taking them for granted. i would bet anything that the one thing mike wishes he could have is the chance to hold his family and friends one more time and tell them he loves them. to the mette family,i can not possibly imagine the pain and sorrow you are going through but take comfort in the fact you and mike are not alone or forgotten and eventually the truth will sufrace like a ray of sunshine and mike will be free. lets show mike our love and support during the holidays, and please lets go back to the cpd being a family and lets be good to each other because at the end of the day all we have is each other.

Hopefully, we will hear soon about a placement. I know that Mike would appreciate any kind words of support. As the holidays approach be grateful for the freedom you have.

Some quotes for Gov Culver, from past Presidential Thanksgiving Day Proclamations:

A great democracy like ours, a democracy based upon the principles of orderly liberty, can be perpetuated only if in the heart of ordinary citizens there dwells a keen sense of righteousness, and justice.
Theodore Roosevelt, 1907

As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.
John Fitzgerald Kennedy, 1963

Let us set a standard of honor, justice, and charity against which all the years of our third century may be measued. Let us make this Thanksgiving a truly special one.
Gerald Ford, 1976

Sent these to the Gov. Hope he gets the message.

Free Mike Mette.
