Mayor Daley and two of the City Council's most influential alderman received threatening letters in the mail that contained a white powdery substance — later determined to be talcum power.
In addition to Daley, the letters were received by Finance Committee Chairman Edward M. Burke (14th) and the City Council's 80-year-old elder statesman Ald. Bernard Stone (50th). The alderman received their packages last night.
Daley received his this morning. All three were mailed in brown envelopes with bubble wrap.
Interim Police Supt. Dana Starks said the powder was non-threatening and believed to be talcum powder.
We had heard that the envelope was found next to an orange and white bag bearing the words "-unkin -onuts" near where Richie and Eddie's security people sit while perusing the morning papers. Area detectives continue to investigate.

State Senator Ricky Hendon was on the Munir Muhammid show the other night. His comments about the Chicago Police Department were unbelievable. Talk about playing the race card! He made several statements regarding race and brutality with the Chicago Police and how the police are beating black people and covering it up. Munir Muhammid doesn't disagree with him even though his C.R.O.E. office at 71st and Artesian has been guarded for years by the Chicago Police when he has meetings or is taping his cable shows. I know this because I have sat outside his office several times under order from the 008th district. I spoke to Munir several times and he seemed like a nice man. I even gave consideration for those parking in tow zones around his office during these meetings and show tapings. The area around his office is a shit hole. It used to be a nice middle class black and Lithuanian neighborhood until the Section 8 people moved in. Ricky and Munir do a disservice to the black community when they say they are victims of the racist police. They get police protection from the same white police they make comments about. You will never hear these men criticize the Gangster Disciples, Black Disciples, Vice Lords, etc.. or the leaders of these gangs for death and destruction they create in the black neighborhoods. Why is this? You might hear the general political comment of the problem of "gangs,guns, and drugs" but you will never hear them specifically and repeatedly condem specific gangs and gang leaders. They will only criticize the easy target..The Chicago Police Department. Black people need to realize the enemy is not the Chicago Police Department or the KKK. The biggest terrorists are living in your neighborhoods (GANGS!!).

That's a myth. You can qualify for a sworn pension and come back to work as a civilian, but you cannot get a second pension from the city.
Regardless of your city position or positions, only one pension.
