- Denis E. Doherty is one of three people running for president. Doherty is assigned to the 018th District, but detailed to Unit 543 - Detached Services
- His assignment at Unit 543 is said to be one of Aldrecreature Burke's bodyguards, sitting at one of Burke's houses making sure no one breaks in...like the FBI trying to set up bugs.
Question:
- Isn't this one of those D-3 spots we keep hearing about?
- Do we really want someone that close to Burke and City Hall anywhere near the reins of leadership of our Fraternal Order?
- Did Burke approve this move?

SCC: if what you are saying is true, this officer must remove himself from his detail, go back to the D-unit or district. Currently this is a HUGH conflict of interest. No way would I vote for him or anyone in a same situation.
can we get an FOP president that is NOT a detective? donahue and nolan were/are both dicks. therefore detectives and special clout units (k9 mounted marine etc) get extra pay. lets vote a PATROLMAN as FOP president. maybe some of us lowly patrolman (and women) will get what we deserve.

I just posted my comment about a conflict of interest...just read the next story and learned that Kevin Jans is also running for FOP prez. What a goof!
Having said that along with conflict of interest guy, I want to be the first to congratulate Mark in your upcoming landslide victory in the "One Man Race."
Off topic but rumor has it that top exempts are meeting after the DOC meetings. The topics have been juicy ones with top brass. It appears that some big names have already decided to put in their papers on 01 Feb 08. The biggest name circulating out there is Grau and also a disgruntled Williams. It appears as though Weis has already let it be known that he is bringing in two of his own for top spots. It looks like the 1st Deputy may also be an outsider and also Bureau of Patrol may also be filled as well.
Sorry boys but did you honestly think that J-Fed was going to let it be business as usual. The new orders being barked out by Williams appear to be a bit late.
There are going to be plenty of exempt rank members pulling the plug soon and you will see plenty of fresh faces running the show.
Some one in a clout heavy spot like this does not have the patrolman's best interest in mind, no matter what he says.

There once was a guy that was assigned to my old unit that was detailed to Unit 543. Who he "bodyguarded" doesn't matter b/c this issue isn't about that. The point I want to make is this: When his OT check came in it was mixed in with everyone elses OT check. Needless to say we were all shocked to see how much "UNRESTRICTED" D-3 OT really is. The OT check slightly over
$ 4,700 AFTER TAXES!
You would think he would have tried to justify the cash but when confronted by the troops he basically said it was a great spot with no supervision and no one ever checked or verified the OT for anyone. He went on to say his check was NOT by any means the largest either.
He was assigned two periods later and I know he's still there.
I guess I'm just jealous I don't have the spot but this is for sure- You don't get that money and freedom if your not SOMEBODY'S GUY. So if this dude is in Unit 543 I suspect City Hall would love for him to get the FOP President job. Payback would be a bitch-For all of us that is!

Typical Department bullshit to hide the fact that untold numbers of officers are in play jobs that have nothing to do with patrol or district law enforcement. By the way, Doherty guards the door at the Committee on Finance at City Hall. Burke, Mr. Chairman, feigns ignorance of the man. Trust me, we don't need City Hall running the FOP. My vote goes to R.Vanecko, the Mayor's nephew. I know he's not a cop but uncle Dick can appoint him one in time for the election. With his sticky fingers already in our pension funds his is the kind of financial genius we need.

Don’t know this Doherty, but if he is in 543 then he is as heavy as whale shit! This coupled with the fact that he works for Burke makes the red flags go up for this non-clout P.O. and the hairs on the back of my neck stand up! It is no wonder he wanted to put his unit as the 18th District. Between Doherty and Donahue – Donahue is the least of two evils. Burke is one of the biggest crooks in this city and probably the state and I’m wondering if Doherty has picked up some of Burkes tricks. If so then the FOP membership would really be in trouble should he be elected.
On a side note, seen Burke at one of the Christmas parties, he looked like a two-bit hood in his suit and gold jewelry.

MY OPINION, if you don't like it, go cry to momma....Im not voting for ANY of the current FOP except for Sid Davis (he is the only one that I ever get on the phone or see on the street, seems genuine, and he tries hard...if only the rest of that crew actually cared!)....other than that, I'm voting them ALL out. Doherty was on daleys detail for awhile, then he asked and was given the drivers position, he did not like it (crying), then he wanted to go back to "advance man", he was told no then left the detail because the baby did not get his way! He then went to narcotics made his own hours with overtime worked as a review officer was given a brand new take home crown vic, then did not like that was then put in 018 (At least on paper), got tired of that then back with burke WTF! He has more baggage than a train hobo! He also is very political, he even used his mother-in-law to buy himself and family a new home in garfield ride 6 years ago, then told everyone the area is "changing" sold the home at a 150K loss and moved back to bridgeport what a genius! You say you know stuff about her, and her rise to the rank of CPT. I say - Good for you. Do you think I, or for that matter, any of us who work for her care..? Let me ask you this - what boss does not owe a favor to SOMEBODY on this job. Name him or her, and then maybe you have something.

Dennis had many good jobs but is not a company man. Anyone to buck the system might be a good choice. Dennis knows how to do that. Robert Olson Sr. is a 37 year veteran who is NOT the Mayor's cousin. He worked in the 1st District and was highly respected amongst his peers prior to getting on Burke's Detail. Max Ortiz was a clean cut hard working tactical officer who worked in 021st District as did Anthony Skokol also working in the 021st District. No one currently on the mayor's detail was promoted through merit including Bob Olson jr. Although he did make detective. I work in 001 and have had dealings with all these guys.
Through all the police contracts,through all the arbitration,through all the media attacks on Police, through all the FOP elections; I have only seen on one occasion an actual protest conducted by the police. Wake up and beat them at their own bullshit game.

FLSA is not what most people think it is, it is sort of like the leftovers that are hard to build up because as soon as you go over the mandated federal number of hours worked in a week and you accure FLSA time, you are issued an overtime check. talk to your timekeeper and they can explain it much better, and this lawsuit will not affect that many of us...

not everyone will like everyone at all times...
I don't know her personally other than to recognize who she is, but i can guarantee you one thing she is a class act... My old partner, who has since passed, had issues and she did every thing in her power to help him and his family. she didn't know him or the family before he got sick, but still went out of her way to help them. I have heard from others this is the norm with her, so if you were wronged in some way join the list of those wronged by others, but to hold grudges and vendettas makes us no better than some of those we complain about.

The FOP crew won the case on a motion for summary judgment. The Federal judge entered judgment in our favor but has yet to order the remedy. It will be soon (few months, maybe?). Please call the FOP if you have questions. Why the fuck to you ask this question on SCC?

Webster actually said that if sommerville happened to beat rugai that he would bring in section 8 into mt. greenwood . She is so full of shit i had to leave 3rd watch and am now on days because of her and her politics. Rugai is not going to bat for Webster you ask how i know Matt O'shea told me who is the new democratic committee man .
