Meet Mr. Ben Dover

Great news! The City, which can't seem to fund certain pensions at anything close to solvency, is preparing to spend $2 billion (yes, that's Billion with a B) on an Olympic extravaganza that will be unlike any boondoggle you've ever seen before, since or will again:
  • Organizers of the American bid for the 2016 Summer Olympics unveiled plans Tuesday that include $900 million in new and temporary venues, and promises a "spectacular" experience in the heart of the city.

The price tag for the 16 venues, five of which would be permanent and 11 temporary, was included in a questionnaire detailing the plan, submitted to the International Olympic Committee and released by Chicago bid organizers.

It does not include a $1 billion athlete's village, a public-private venture officials said will be built regardless of whether Chicago gets the games.
Oh, thank goodness it doesn't include the $1 billion already on the drawing board. Of course, this is all a preliminary estimate:
  • Chicago's price tag is likely to grow if history is any guide. Costs for the 2012 London Olympics are now more than triple original estimates, topping $19 billion.
And don't forget to work in that mysterious 30% cost inflation that seems to accompany any Chicago construction contract. This thing is going to crater the entire Illinois economy. In the past few decades, Chicago has fought to not be lumped into the "Rust Belt" industrial decline. This Olympics is going to leave a path of destruction across the entire Great Lakes area that hasn't been seen since the 1970's.

How do we go about having a referendum put on the ballot to preclude the stuttering prick from spending dollar one on the Olympics before the pensions are properly funded?

Now, is HAVE NO DOUBT, VOTE INCUMBENTS OUT beginning to sound like a plan?

Or at least a monkey wrench to throw into the juggernaut rip-off machine?

If you're interested in the simple strategy to apply, visit the Reader's Clout City blog and peruse the comments sections, I've made a pest of myself there, gratefully being tolerated by the Reader's editorial staff, at least so far.

If you find my concept not of interest, so be it.

But, it will be effective, if enough citizens act on it.

Really effective.

Really.

Hey let the games begin! Whats 2Billion dollars. Anything for the greater honor and glory of Daley Inc. and this great city. So what if the coppers and firemen don't get pensions, they should have saved their money. Taxes, bring them on I am willing to pay more to help!
Ok, before y'all start flaming me and talking about me out of my name, remember this site encourages sarcasm and silliness.

It's time for the flop to file a federal lawsuit in which the city cannot spend dollar one on anything until the pensions are properly funded. File injunctions barring the city from moving forward on this until the court case is settled then drag it out in court for the next six years. Win or lose dumb-dumb will not get his olympics. Regardless, it seems like I'm not going to get my pension so f@ck him and his dream!!!

the other guy had a great idea: file a suit against the City to force them to fund the pensions. put a lien against EVERYTHING til it is done.

This is easy. They're sending signals; we(our pensions) are expendable. WE keep sending signals
back that we wouldn't do a thing if
our pensions are disolved.

How many of us would actually be willing to get bloody if THEY broke thier agreement to give us a pension after 20+ years of working
nites, holidays, weekends, etc.?
U can control a bunch of angry
Policemen who just have pistols w/some loyal clout swat guys, NG troops, active Army and maybe some Blackwater guys.
Now u starten to understand why they want your "assault" weapons?

The next time you hear a politician use the
word 'billion' in a casual manner, think about
whether you want the 'politicians' spending
YOUR tax money.
A billion is a difficult number to comprehend,
but one advertising agency did a good job of
putting that figure into some perspective in
one of its releases.

A. A billion seconds ago it was 1959.

B. A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.

C. A billion hours ago our ancestors were
living in the Stone Age.

D. A billion days ago no-one walked on the earth on two feet.

E. A billion dollars ago was only 8 hours and
20 minutes, at the rate our government is spending it.

While this thought is still fresh in our brain, let's take a look at New Orleans . It's amazing what you can learn with some simple division . .

Louisiana Senator, Mary Landrieu (D), is presently asking the Congress for $250 BILLION to rebuild New Orleans . Interesting number, what does it mean?

A. Well, if you are one of 484,674 residents of
New Orleans (every man, woman, child), you
each get $516,528.

B. Or, if you have one of the 188,251 homes in
New Orleans , your home gets $1,329,787.

C. Or, if you are a family of four, your family
gets $2,066,012.

Washington , D.C .. HELLO!!! ... Are all your calculators broken??

and let's not get started on Chicago.. it's easy to spend other peoples money.. F-Richie

Just wondering if the Suffredin/Beavers firearms ordinance passes in Cook County and the Olympic bid is granted to Chicago, Where will the shooting events take place? How many Olympic firearms have loaded chamber indicators? In a competition that pits world class shooters against each other. That firearms are machined and tweaked down to the last 1000th of an inch, that the extra design or added weight of a chamber indicator is paramount on the minds of an Olympic competitor. Perhaps the competitors may have to hold the events in Indiana.

Without the Olympics this city will die!
Without a self reliant CTA this city will die!
Without 50 aldercreatures this city will die!
Without good schools this city will die!
Without merit, phone calls and 20% this city will die!

So die already! I'm interested in life in this city after corruption.

An anti democratic vote in Cook County would send a message.

If all of you political hacks who need your clout have a ball with your all democratic vote.

The mayor, pres.of the county board and gov. are in for another 3 years but one could vote against their party whores.

Got a DEM approved pamphlet in the mail today. had all of the judges, recorder of deeds etc. who are in the race. Ann Burke was right in front. THis pc. of shit who'se husband is one of Chicago's most noteble thiefs should be thrown out. I saved this pamphlet to take to the booth to vote against all of these assholes.

How is it that the mayor can keep pushing for the olympics and pension funds could possibly not be funded for the workers in the future? Why aren't the unions gathering support and protesting in front of city hall.

Don't let Donahue forgive the city another $20 million or more this time around. Make the city pay what it owes us. The city demands that we follow the line and burns us if we don't. The same should apply to Daley and this city. No give backs! No give backs!

Hey Richie,
I know you read this blog. If you want to get into a war over our pensions so be it. We will make sure that this city NEVER gets the Olympics. As one of your father's friends once said while I was at your home,"F##K wit us, No F##K dem" which is exactly what we are saying to YOU!

Sam Bass- Does FOP President have that much authority to forgive a pension payment? What about the pension fund trustees and the reps? I thought the only one who voted against the deal was the Sgts. rep?

The International Olympic Committee has put alot of stock in the fact that the City has no organized opposition to having the Olympics here in Chicago. I think it is time to organize an opposition - no pension guarantees = no Olympic support. This is the time for FOP to get involved, publically if necessary. If we can organize the police and fire unions to publically oppose this Olympic farce, we can force King Richie and the 50 thieves to fund our pension to buy our silence. However, time is of the essence. The committee will pick a host city next year, so we must play this chip soon. The media would love to cover dissention that threatens to throw a wrench in the grand Olympic plan that these jagoffs have come up with. We have been over the barrel long enough, we need to speak up.

FOP? PBPA? Anyone out there?

We're in a recession with the deepest trough of our lifetime ahead of us. Yet, these damn tax-raising Democrats are worsening matters. And that egomaniacal monster Daley, like Nero, continues to play his Olympic fiddle with BILLIONS of taxpayer dollars on the line.

I would hope all gun ranges in the Tri-state area speak up and say no to supporting it.

They should make sure its known, because of the anti-gun attacks the city attempts on the rest of the state.

"Revolution is the solution!"

Evolution, as in the evolving of the miniature brains and balls of the 'common' citizens.

Evolved brains that no longer lie to themselves, just so they can 'feel' everything is okay, and evolved balls, to have the means to make things truly 'okay', by voting out, with extreme prejudice, every last party hack, be they Republican or Democrat.

Fire the whole lot of them, if their replacements turn out to be shit, fire them the very next election.

Zero tolerance for lying, thieving motherfuckers.

Just Say No to the motherfuckers.
