Vote Damnit!

  • After keeping silent for months, Cook County State's Attorney Dick Devine endorsed his top aide to succeed him in office.

Devine endorsed First Assistant State's Attorney Robert Milan at a Noon press conference Sunday. In plugging Milan, Devine passed over another of his top aides who is seeking the office, Chief Deputy State's Attorney Anita Alvarez.

The FOP has endorsed aldercreature Tom Allen. We aren't sure about that one yet, but we're willing to go along with NOT endorsing Milan.

Everyone is gabbing about our new Superintendent. He might make some small changes but in the end he isn't going to change much.

THIS is the issue that can hurt us most people!!!

Alderscum Howard "I am going to indict one police officer a month" Brookings is the runaway frontrunner and has already been annointed by the Tribune and Sun-Times.

He is running not on the "I'll help lower crime" platform, but the "I am going to arrest all the police" platform. He knows this will get him elected.

Wake up people, these are scarry times we are living in!!

Wouldn't electing Allen result in Daley getting to appoint still another cocksucker to the city council?

If Allen is such a positive for CPD officers, why give Daley a chance to put who knows who into that body of rubber stamps?

Why not elect someone who truly hates Daley, Stroger and their ilk, like 'Pit Bull' Peraica?

Peraica may not be who you want him to be, but at least his being the State's Attorney will inspire a shitload of assholes to wet their panties 'daley', don't you think?

At the very least, that would be fun to watch.

Bob Milan used to be good to us in the mid to late 90s. Once he started going higher in the ranks he turned on us.

From my understanding Allen was a public defender back in the day (heard this from several ASAs).

Anita has always been good to the police. She did prosecute Labiak and Company for a home invasion in 13. Labiak left his cigarette in the apartment.

Brookins would be horrible for us and I don't know much about the other guy.

I don't know if Tom Allen is pro-police or not.

But at the 025 Christmas party, held at Biagio's, 3rd watch Captain John "Captain Morgan" Murphy marched his clout, Tom Allen, all around the banquet hall introducing him to everyone. It was a disgrace and, frankly, embarrassing.

I don't know who's a bigger stroke: someone who'd bring his sugar-daddy to a police party, or the person invited. My guess is the former.

I'm voting NO to Tom Allen - simply because he's buddy-buddy with Captain Morgan.

Many of you don't know Murphy but, seriously - anyone who affiliates with him is suspect in my book.

And next year, captain, leave your clout and your ass-kissing parade at home. The troops didn't spend all that money on tickets for the party in order to endure a political advertisement and have to see you embarrass yourself.

Allen was an APD for 10 years, so was Brookins, so was Suffredin.

After watching the "debate" last night, I wonder if Tony knows what the State's Attorney's job is - he kept saying his platform was to "lower taxes". The State's Attorney doesn't do that, can't do that.

If Tony wants to lower taxes he should stay in his current job where he actually can.

Last night Allen seemed so proud of the FOP endorsement, yet it isn't on his website's list of endorsements.

Just remember Tom Allen advocated the use of red light cameras. No where in his commercial did he say that. He was head of the Transportaion Committe in City Council and pushed for the city to install them. He may have had good intentions but now its just money. If he wants to bring those cameras down, I'll vote for him. If not, he ain't getting my vote!

Say what you want about Milan, but Brookins would be effectively put an end to any last shred of decent relations between the SAO and CPD. That guy is a plague, who I'm almost fairly certain, is completely mentally handicapped. Actually, he gives the mentally handicapped a bad name. I watched the debate last night between candidates and I was dumbfounded as to just HOW stupid he is...truly, 100% stupid. He couldn't string a sentence together to save his life. Demonstrating his complete and utter lack of ability to run the second largest prosecutor's office in the country, he stated that in order to make the felony courtrooms MORE efficient, he'd cut the number of ASA's in each room from three to two. Even without knowing anything about the SAO, common sense clearly dictates that to make something MORE efficient, you wouldn't REDUCE the number of personnel in any given place. If he's elected, God help the citizens of Cook County.

Allen is also a grade-A douche. Apparently he thinks that all CPD are out to hang shit on the poor unfortunate "citizens" (re: criminals) of Cook Co. and that ASA's sole purpose is to convict the innocent. Jagoffs, both of 'em.

Off topic.... We have all noticed the negative press from the Tribune and the Times. I have stopped buying either paper and advised other family and friends to do the same.

I noticed that there are still plenty of Police Officers out there who continue to buy these worthless papers. I understand that habits are hard to break but we need to send a strong message.

Please band together and refrain from buying these papers. Cancel your home subscriptions and let them know why. WE NEED TO STICK together on this.

They must be employed, dress in conservative clothes and, Oh yes, be as ignorant as he is.

My favorite Milan reason for failing to approve a murder after all was said and done...

The murder occurred at 03:30 am...

"only one eye witness"

if the citizens could read the ASA/ Felony review files they'd just shit! Great job Miley.

The office is so micro managed that the ASA needs to call a sup. to approve murder...the supv. has to call for approval as well...
Why not just call Miley direct the first time?

I won't even mention how the witnesses are treated. Great job...NOT!

Early primary voting began this morning at the local library.

While I despise politicians in general and Democrats in particular, I opted for the Democratic ballot and cast my vote for Edwards over the two leading assholes.

I voted for Allen as the lesser evil among SAO candidates, knowing that come November, not one single Democrat will get my vote.

I also generously used write-ins for judicial positions. Devin Hester for appelate judge.

Hey, JambaJuice, try mixing it up in a way that will not piss away your votes, by letting them be split by multiple challengers and permit the incumbents to waltz to victory, to wit:

When there are two or more challengers running against an incumbent office holder, vote by ballot position, as follows:

If the incumbent's name is listed first, vote for the challenger whose name is list last

or

If the incumbent's name is not listed first, the vote for the challenger whose name is listed first

Concentrate your votes on one challenger in this way and you greatly increase the probability of the incumbent losing.

If the incumbent losing is what you want to accomplish, when there are two or more challengers, (with no single, strong challenger), voting by ballot position is the most effective means to do so.

Incumbents have many advantages, bypass them all by applying the above voting strategy.

Simple, yet effective.

Milan came off as being a real stuck on himself.....I'm the boss type "A" stroke. Tom Allen would represent more of the same institutional incompetence we see in City Hall and the County Board.

Milan was an idiot in high school and he's still an idiot. He is also a pompous ass. Back in the early '70's when he was running around Beverly and Janson's Hot Dog stand (99 & Western) he would insist that everyone call him "Duke." If you called him Bob - he'd come back with "call me Duke." John Wayne he wasn't then and he isn't now. His father was a precinct captain and had a real estate office in the old 19th Ward back during Ald. Fitzpatrick's day, before Joyce and Hynes came to power. Being the turncoats that the Milan family was then and are now, they abandoned their loyalty to the old democratic party's aldermanic choice of Tom Ryan after he lost to newcomer Jerry Joyce in 1975 and young "Duke" bailed out of Ryan's camp and became a bootlicker to Joyce.

A guy who grew up near 100th & Claremont with the "Duke."

Allen is NOT a better choice than Milan. He's as hell bent on weeding out alleged police corruption as that asshat, Brookins. If you should vote for anyone, vote for Anita. She's smart AND police friendly. The officers she prosecuted were, shock of shocks, in fact GUILTY. She didn't seek out officers to prosecute; they committed a crime, and as a prosecutor, she did her job and prosecuted them. She is on your side.
Allen is not.
Brookins is not.

Someone said not to vote for Alvarez because she is the only candidate that has prosecuted a police officer? Uh, don't you want the bad ones rooted out? Are we supposed to ignore crime if a cop is the one committing it? She's by far the best candidate. What also kills me is all this Burge talk. People want to hold that against Alvarez (and even Milan, who has his own problems), yet the guy that was directly involved in it when HE was first assistant got elected to that office 3 times...... Makes no sense. My vote is going to Anita.

Not only that, but this guy has been screaming that Burge was allowed to get away with torture. If he had been the State's Attroney Burge would have been brought to justice. The same FOP also endorsed Mike Madigan for reelection. The same FOP that told us to vote for their endorsed canidate, Lisa Madigan, for Attorney General when she ran against career prosecutor Joe Brickett. The FOP endorsed her because Speaker Madigan promised he would get us an 80% pension. Donahue actually came to my roll call and said that. That was what, 6-7 years ago. I'm embarrassed by my union.

Peraica will be way too busy fucking with the Daley's, the many shitty council fucks and Stroger's inbred dickwads, to give a shit about bullshit allegations of 'police brutality'.

As for 'corruption', where do you think all the clout babies came from?

Hint: the anuses of all the usual, political suspects.

Elect Peraica, as irritating as he can be, and let him apply his own, charming, personality quirks where they'll do the most: 1 - harm to the clout motherfuckers and 2 - good for the voters, as, in the long run, the voters will benefit from the Daley's, Madigan's, Burke's, Stroger's, Jone's, ___________'s, etc., having a guy like Pit Bull Peraica crawling up their asses.

Perdition.

Now, what does that mean?

And what do you mean by that?

Being the wife, or husband, of a cop is, surprise, surprise, different from being a cop.

Different from thinking you have the experiences that a cop has actually had.

Different from believing that you understand the varieties of human natures as well as your cop husband or wife who have actually 'been there, seen and done that'.

Different from actually knowing the difference between what's observed on the surfaces, however apparently genuine, and what often proves to be lurking beneath them.

It would be nice, if a cop's instincts, awareness, observational skills, hard-earned wisdoms and clarity of vision could be transfered, by osmosis, to their family, friends, associates and more than a few thick-headed co-workers, but, alas, no one has yet to discover that particular magical incantation.

I'll take you at your word that you are who you've said you are.

On the off chance that your husband is a cop, and is as smart as you think you are, have a heart to heart sit down with him, on the subjects of human nature, politicians, human gullibility, greed, hypocrisy, deceptiveness, manipulative personalities, dishonesty, basic desires, both common to most and rare, individual and group motivations, political strategies, the divide-and-conquer principles of the midget Machiavelli wannabees, life as it is, not merely as you wish it would be, etc.....

See if you can see beyond the tip of your nose, beyond the surfaces presented to you by your limited observational and analytical abilities, then try posting a comment of some substance and thoughtfulness.

If you wish.
