Bureau Disbanded

Not the Bureau we would have chosen, but one to make up for this one just created.

Now we'll have to see if the new Deputy Superintendents cut out some of the useless middle management spots.

UPDATE: If anyone missed it, Crime Strategies and Accountability got rolled into the new Bureau of Professional Standards.

An old friend of mine at HQ told me they just opened back up Ops Command. They had been sharing space, equipment and personel with the CPIC. So much for cutting dead weight huh? WTF. New First Deputy already adding to a bloated office and expanding his sphere of influence. Meet thr new First same as the old First.

gee does this mean that now that we have a new unit with a fancy pants former fbi guru running the show that someone will actually be able to complete an investigation in a timely fashion. way too many po's out there with open cr's who are kept in limbo as to their future. i have brought this up with union rep and have asked if a timeline could be brought up in negotiations with city. lots of good po's sitting down at the dump on lexington street on bs beefs who have absolutely no due process.

hey scc.... way off the topic here. how come in 015 on midnights they have 5 females (sometimes 6) working the desk? however they only have a skeleton crew (beat cars) on the 1st watch on the street? so these 3 year wonders can duck out at 3 & 4am. while the beat cop has to hump day in and day out.(full 8) while these 3 year pukes are ducking night after night with less then 5 years on. and when there is enough manpower to put an 06 car up it goes to the desk crew. funny how that works. what is going on over in austin? why do the bosses allow it?

Please, please, please cut the fat in this department. STreamline bureaus and departments with decent bosses who aren't clouted-merit hacks, and maybe this dept will begin to have some morale back. Too many bosses, not enough indians w/out working equipment and w/out up-to-date training.

Jody, start keeping a journal of all the calls you get from city hall, be it the mayor, a mayor hack, some alderthing or rev telling you this, that, place a person here and there...make or find a po$ition for their political brain-less hack$, etc. Write your book and you will make more than that piddly 300G you are making now. I'll be your "ghost" writer.

I agree,they penalize innocent po's for years at a time for eventually unfounded/nonsustained CR#'s.

Why can't they investigate and adjudicate them in a reasonable amount of time?

If a CR# is bonafide IAD should know within 6 months maximum.

I heard that ABC News 20/20 has done an undercover investigation on off duty police officers who get drunk and then get behind the wheel. Then after the copper is driving, they call 911 informing them of the offending vehicle, driver, direction driving, etc... Well a squad car pulls the off duty cop over, the off duty cop shows his badge and the on duty police let him go. Then all of this is taped and then the reporters confront the on duty police officer asking why they didn't do their job.

God, just what this department needs. Another scandal and we have no one to blame but ourselves. For God's sake, if you are going to drink, then don't drive.

Heres a better idea. Disband Tact and gang teams. That would return 1 Lt, 5 sgts and 50 PO's back to each district, add an additional 31 cars and 30 radios. Then we can address properly utilizing all of the "06" cars to ansewr calls and do reports. There is where your waste of manpower is

Right on 3 year wonder!!! Tact teams have been around for quite some time. TRU has been around....a couple of years?? TRU was created as an excuse to get out of the district for MORE clout babies. Sounds like your old D/C thought you were a complete tool and refused to put you on a tact team, so you made a call to get out. By the way, your math sucks! Dismantling tact/gangs will free up 31 cars?? What the hell job are you on? 50 P.O's??? 46 at best if fully staffed, but you'd be hard pressed to find a district where they're fully staffed.
Get back in your Mom's basement, loser!

You're kidding right, there are more people buried in tac offices than most know, some districts have 2 tac secretaries, burglary, robbery, vice, prostitution, housing(for a few) etc. and then the 06 cars. His math was better than you think.. i'm not for disbanding tac, but they should be handling jobs when it is busy, not the old "we are on surveilence bs."

2/21 5:30 PM - Glad to see we are on the same page. PO's that have served there time but not ready to retire, there are plenty of spots if the females that come on with the main purpose of working inside would work the street where they belong. For instance the 3 year civilian turned police from unit 140. Where is she now, telephone installation. What is wrong with putting her in 6 or 7 to learn the job she tested for?? Could someone tell me why unit 140 needs a PO as a time keeper? J-Fed, start with the 5th floor, might get enough po's to fill a whole watch in some district that has been depleted.
