This is so true about Shields. I work mids in 018 and he has done nothing but bitch about the commander since he has been dumped everyone on the watch is really getting sick of it. Get out of the car once or twice a shift and maybe you could get back on 3rd watch on management again, I doubt it though seeing how Georges has already heard about you being a little cry baby
I agree with Kolman, but axe Georgas?? Georgas is one of the best Commanders we got. He has a masters degree from a REAL school. He knows his shit and if you work he always has your back. The only po's having a problem with him are the ones that he dumps because they want to continue to do thier same bull shit, NOTHING! I was a former boss that played by the rules for years...I paid for political fundraisers and got my free take home car in return.....do the math, my return was awesome......and after years of playing by Daley's rules I get dumped????? Tonight a Burbank PO answered a call of a man with a gun on Cicero Ave and was ambushed by two m/1's and shot three times. Thank god for his vest and fellow PO's who shot and killed one offender, shot another and arrested a third.
The most disturbing part is how the animal shot the PO from inside the shitty motel, through the window as he approached, with a fully loaded MAC-10 with two thirty round magazines taped together. As he moved in to finish the PO off, he stated "I'm a cop killer motherfucker."
Good thing the PO's backup was better at the killing. Score one for the good guys. The family showed up hootin and hollerin as well.

Two Burbank police officers were wounded Monday night and another man was killed in a shootout in the 8400 block of Cicero Avenue, authorities said.
Details on the shooting about 9:30 p.m. near the Budget Inn Motel were not immediately available, but fire officials said both officers suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Both officers suffered gunshot wounds to the hand, with one officer struck in the calf and another hit twice in a bulletproof vest, Burbank Fire Chief Tim Kaufmann said.
Burbank police were unavailable for comment. Illinois State Police and Bridgeview, Oak Lawn and Chicago police responded to the scene.

I think most would agree that a person should be a LT for at least 5 years before they are made an exempt. Or any combination of LT and CAPT.

Here's what I know: Every single person I've spoken to from 018 dislikes Georgas. On the flip side, I personally know Mike Shields and I like him. I don't know why people are hatin on Mike. He has a lot more friends than Georgas. Must be a handful of management suckholes that can be found in any district.

Some of you guys obviously don't know the difference between Mike Shields, former commander of 005, Dep. Chief A/2, and some idiot P.O. on mids in 018. Dep. Shields may have his issues, among them an inability to behave around married women working in his office, but all in all he's not a bad boss. As Richardson's nephew, he made Sgt. with 6yrs on, Lt., at 9-10, and C.0. of 005 about 6 months later. I don't think he was ever in 018 but did spend alot of time in 021 and 015. Certainly he's clout-heavy, don't know if he's somehow related to Obama's wife, but so what, he's now got his 20 on and he's done alright. Certainly, he's no Terry Williams but I wouldn't hold that against him.
I didn't realize 022 had rangers. Surprising...he must have recently transferred in. I wasn't aware 022 had any officers that know how to work, so yes, this is very surprising to learn about a "ranger" in 022. Wow...

This should be a MAJOR wake-up call to all of us in law enforcement. I have 22+ yrs on the CPD and cannot stress the importance of assisting your fellow Officers. My entire career has been on the street in a district and I have seen the good and the bad. Early in my career, I don't care if it was a B.S. domestic-you would always have at least one car from your sector show up. They may just sit outside to make sure there were no problems, but they were there. This was the time of rotating, and the camaraderie was better than it is today, but we need to turn it around. I know there's the bashing of TRU, tact/gangs, 008, 022, 016 but stop and realize, we are all we have out there! I don't care if you don't care for a particular Officer(s), but once you get in that squad car, your allegiance should be to your fellow Officers, NO MATTER WHAT!! I think we all know that things can go south in a hurry. We need to be there for each other, so if things do go bad, help is there. Sorry for the long post, but there is no excuse for not backing each other up. Remember. THERE'S STRENGTH IN NUMBERS! A bust-out may not be tempted to drop the gloves with the Police if there's 4 Officers there as opposed to 1 or 2.

years ago i used to work as a security patrol officer. i was amazed at how many sleeping cops i would run across in Chicago at 4 am.
usually not just pulled off on the expressway though. they were smart enough to find a warehouse to hide behind or a discrete parking lot somewhere.

I worked with an old guy last week who had almost 40 years on working the schools pathetic.
This shields dude in 018, dont know him but thats the way of the CPD nowadays. Young guys work a fucking yr or 2 in a shit district while on probation and then go to another district and assume they should be owed something. Are u kidding me? they make phone calls to go to these districts because lets be real do u get to 018 on bid with 4 or 5 yrs on the job? Deal with midnights or bid to the ghetto and work any watch u choose. I guess you have to decide is 018 midnights worse than 011 or 007 on 3rd watch? And if you say yes you are a definite moron, and the only ones that would say yes to that have never worked a busy district(well for more than their 18 month probation at least).

If someone does work and produces on the watch and get's to stay on that watch does not make them a management suckhole. What makes a cry baby is a person who does nothing then get's dumped to midnights becuase he can not make the bid and then bitches to everyone how the boss is an ass.

We request a (CFD)ambulance. They request a "bus" to transport to a hospital.

Wnen the CPD/LAPD request SWAT, the NYPD requests their Emergency Service Unit (ESU trucks).

True, however, this is not why people stay on management and I think we all know that. I know more than a few workers that lock people up every day, even on the midnights, but still cant make a management bid to another watch. Kinda makes you start to agree with the 'do nothing' attitude after awhile.

I didn't realize 022 had rangers. Surprising...he must have recently transferred in. I wasn't aware 022 had any officers that know how to work, so yes, this is very surprising to learn about a "ranger" in 022. Wow...

Interesting...Don't know or owe the man anything. I have been for in-service lately and it seems a far better place than it was a few years ago. Was friendly and approachable unlike most bosses. As far as running a unit, as long as politics has it's hand in everything, things will be fucked up. Get over SOS, there was more than 1 Commander during those idiots time there, and I'm pretty certain that ADS' from IAD, the Supt.'s office and the D/C of SFG had more sway and control than a Commander. Most people that complain about bosses on this job have a problem with authority and would never make it in the private sector. i made close to 90 last year, was in court a whole lot more then the tac teams in 019.
