Everyone knows if shit ever hits the fan here, we're all FUCKED! And that "truck" or whatever you want to call it will never be seen or heard from...
instead some broke ass 1980s converted ambulance painted all black will pull up and some guys who resemble bosses will stroll out with brick phones.

This "truck" pulls up, being driven by Ardelean, and out jumps Finnegan, Suchoki, Sherry and Herrera, being lead by Burge and Majinowski!

It was donated by a armored car co.... It is supossed to carry traffic cones, traffic horses, flares and such for immediate deployment for traffic control. IM NOT KIDDING. It was read aloud a roll call a few weeks ago. SERIOUSLY! I SWEAR!!

This used to be a CFD vehicle and the purpose at the airports, which I think is true, is that you need this type of vehicle to have maximum access through runways and the terrain of the aitports to get to an emegency in a timely time frame.

All law enforce agencies can purchase these vehicles for $1 from armored car companies. Armored car logo must be removed and the department that uses it must put their dept name on it. When police dept is done with vehicle it must be returned to company it was purchased from. Many dept use them for swat and entry teams.

The one the guy above is talking about is available through the TRU, if anyone bothered to look at a Daily Bulletin in the last three weeks they'd see this to be true. The picture SCC posted is NOT the armored car donated to TRU ( which as someone stated above will be used to carry traffic cones...in an armored vehicle...I couldn't make that up if I tried ). Both airports have a Hummer that were bought with Homeland Security money after 9/11/01. You are about 6 years late with this report.

Alot of stories here but the truth is ....
Originally the hummer was part of the Chicago Fire Depts. equipment at O'Hare and Midway. Squad 7 had one and it was know as Squad 7A. Midways was known as 637. Both were actually mini fire engines. Both had pumps and hose on them. When the dept. received the new Ford "Mini-Pumpers" both Hummers were retired. Evidentually the CPD took them over and converted them for use at the airports.
At O'hare the Hummer is black I think (it's been awhile since I've seen it) But the pump area is open like it's made for people to stand in. The Midway one seems to be made to haul stuff. Anyway yeah I'm sure Homeland Security had something to do with it too.

The one donated by brinks is a completely different vehicle...as stated earlier, this is the one that has been at O'Hare for years.
That truck as been sitting there collecting dust,if you look at the rear tire it's flat.To what purpose/function does this vehicle serve.More city waste,but we can't get a decent raise around this city,has been pointed out on this blog numerous times: Becareful Chicago you just may get the police department you are asking for.Furthermore I predict a future where no one wants the join this department because of poor Management and the hostile treatment from the department,the city leaders and from the citizens themselves. You should see all the trucks and black suburbans the oemc has, What a waste of money, and there's a mobile dispatch center also, but none of the call takers and dispatchers have ever been allowed inside of it or trained how to use it.
Each airport has one. It had something to do with the bomb squad I think. Last time I saw one at Ohare, it had 3 flat tires. It looked kinda beat up too. I heard numerous stories about Ohare personnel taking it out for "Joyrides" and beating it up in the construction areas inside the perimiter. As for readiness, I doubt that this thing can make it to the gas pumps and back. Judging from the condition it looks to be in it is about as ready as the rest of the Airport units if the big one hits. FYI Airport units are the biggest dogs on the department. Just look at their uniforms and equiptment and that will tell you how much they care.

This is an old CFD airport fire truck. They hated it, it never worked rights. It rides VERY rough and breaks down all the time and the city can not get parts for it. It was given to the city after 9/11 in a effort to boost the airport visibility with out haveing to put up any money.

Here is the boring truth: CFD had a small pump on it for brush fires at O'Hare. They didn't need it any more so it went to Unit 050. It carried Bomb Squad robot on the back. Now Bomb Squad has their new truck, so the Hummer was moved to Midway. There is only one Hummer and it has nothing to do with the Brink's truck. It is owned by Dept. of Aviation and has nothing to do with federal grants.
Now, feel free to speculate how it might be used under the new administration....

Security at O'Hare and Midway is such a joke. Got people in long lines waiting to be checked in with all types of luggage that can carry enough explosive to bring the entire place. Yet they are waiting in line and gain access into the buildings and then told to get in line. A Bomber's dream come true. Why take out a plane when you can take out more passengers waiting in line. This not to mention all the vehicles that pull up to the front door of each terminal, reminds me of Oklahoma ready to happen.
There should be off sight loading and unloading of passengers. Off sight screening of passengers and luggage and then the transport of passengers and luggage to the terminal in secure vehicles.

I don't think so. They have the crash rigs which are basically tractors that can get almost anywhere. The main reason they used the Hummers was to get into the parking garages which have hieight restraints.
