Making Drew Rich

  • Former Bolingbrook police Sgt. Drew Peterson's fight to get his guns back hit a snag Wednesday evening. Hours after a judge ruled in his favor to get them back from investigators, Peterson's rights to own them was revoked.
  • Drew Peterson's attorney, Joel Brodsky, says he's pleased with the imminent return of Peterson's belongings but says "if police had a valid reason, they would have taken Peterson's FOID card a long time ago. They just did this to vex Drew."
And by abusing the law and not following their own rules, the State Police are opening up the taxpayers (that's us and you) to liability for their actions. Here are the questions that would deny Peterson an FOID card:
  • convicted of a felony? No
  • treated for mental illness in past 5 years? No
  • addicted to narcotics? No
  • mentally retarded? No
  • subject of an order of protection? No
  • convicted of a firearms offense? No
  • domestic battery conviction? No
  • delinquent minor? No
  • illegal alien? No
Don't get us wrong, we think Drew is probably guilty of more than a few things. But the State Police misusing the law as a means to an end? The ISP does NOT make the law; they enforce the laws on the books passed by the state legislature.

Why make Drew rich if he beats this entire case?

I agree! The only reason I would condone the Police State, I mean
State Police doing that is that they are getting ready to arrest him and they dont want their guys to get hurt.
Im not crazy about the guy; but now w/the whore media all over his house, he's subject to goofs attacking him.
Hell, give him his guns back, and revoke his D.L.; it'll be harder for him to move bodies next time!

No suprise...the state does this to coppers who are charged but not convicted. It is really unfair. They abridge your rights with out benefit of a trial.

"Why make Drew rich if he beats this entire case?"

Is it accurate to call an investigation a 'case'?

Isn't the term 'a case' referencing a case in court?

As in 'case #___________'?

Maybe before she went missing there was a domestic battery report made somewhere. Who knows? Somethings up. They're not violate his rights knowing this moron (not retarded?)would sue in a second. Peterson's other atty, Brodsky's partner, is going to drop Peterson because she said BOTH of them are press baiting. Any time the media is quiet they stir something up for attention. Neither is focusing on the legal work of the case. They are more concerned with the book and movie deal they are going to get.

It seems to me that Drew Peterson would be a lot better off if he kept a lower profile.

It is ridiculous in the extreme that we even have a FOID card system to begin with. No other state has this foolish, unnecessary layer of beuracracy

And why, as a valid FOID holder, can't I get bulk surplus ammo shipped to Shitcago? WTF is the problem?

SCC,
My exact thoughts when I heard this BS. Although this guy is probably dirty, you can't impede his civil liberties based upon suspicion.

This is the only state with this ridiculous state mandated id card to exercise your 2nd Amendment Rights.

Correct, but you tread on thin ice, YOU don't have any problem w/ the Area Gun teams violating the 4th Amendment & taking folks weapons.

I imagine You'd jump @ the opportunity to do some Door Kickn& Gun seizing, the sweetener being on the clock. Hypocritical to say the least

My wife and I are cops and had a discussion regarding just this case...how can a will county prosecutor write a letter to the head of the state police demanding the revocation of a guy's foid card and it happens...what about the laws regarding this??? Whatever the guilt or innocence of peterson, by what legal right can these assholes revoke a foid card on SUSPICION???? Any junkie/robber in an alley has more rights than this...sounds like peterson has a MAJOR lawsuit...maybe pay for kids welfare and education, since media made him GUILTY before state proves the case....

What's new about this. Have you forgotten that the ISP decided, WITHOUT LEGISLATIVE AUTHORITY, to deny FOID cards to children. That made it illegal for an Illinois child to own a gun through the death of relative or for any other reason approved by the parent. Get rid of the FOID card. It's obsolete now that the instant check is in place.

While visiting Bangkok in early February, I saw Stacy Peterson with a bald Buddhist monk. Both were attired in saffron robes. They were riding the Chao Phraya sky train from Sukhumvit Road to the station near Patpong.

My chicken satay with peanut sauce was outstanding. The restaurant was in Siam Square.

Three days later, I again saw Stacy up in Chaing Mai. She was alone riding an elephant.

I then left for Phuket and have not seen her since.

Not the first time the ISP has revoked a FOID on suspicion rather than conviction. But certainly the highest profile case in which it's happened. They're refusing to issue FOIDs to <10 year olds now, in spite of the fact that the parent has signed to accept responsibility. This has gone on for nearly a year.

Why do you need a license to buy and own a gun in Illinois, but not a D.L. to buy a car?

Drew Peterson is an innocent man and a pillar of his community.

Either charge him with a felony or leave the man alone.

Is this for real? Guy kills one wife, disappears his most recent wife. Has the time of his life enjoying watching the suburban police (that flubbed his first case) and the ISP bounce around looking for the body.

But what SCC thinks is the issue is that this suspected double murderer gets his FOID card revoked?

Is it because he was the police, or have you really drank the NRA koolaid?

Hey genius where does SCC mention the NRA? Peterson has civil rights like any other American citizen and until there are charges brought against him and he is convicted we all should be concerned about his civil rights being violated. Of course people like you are so anti gun and so anti NRA you don't care about someone's civil rights when it comes to guns. Typical spineless reaction to Government overstepping it's bounds as long as they do it to somebody else and it involves somebody's guns. Yeah I bet you probabbly thought the Duke University case was handled correctly too. Better watch out because spineless gutless people like you who constantly let Government violate our civil rights will be the first one's marched into the ovens when the time comes. And seeing what a pussy you are I'm sure you will go willingly like the spineless gutless sheep that you are.
