Ready for a Shock?
We hope this judge has a strong stomach and isn't too offended by what goes on over there:
A federal judge plans to visit the Cook County Jail next week to check conditions and attempt to settle a lingering dispute over whether inmates are being properly treated there.
U.S. District Court Judge Virginia Kendall delivered the surprise news during a hearing called this morning by attorneys for inmates who have complained for decades that conditions aren’t healthy and do not meet minimum safety standards.
Let's be perfectly frank - County is a shithole. You put 10,000 people who can't behave into an environment like that, well, let's just say the smell is the best thing about it. We've been there and we've talked to those who work there and damned if we'd ever want to work there or serve any kind of time there. Judge Kendall is in for a rude surprise. Hopefully, she isn't a bleeding heart type that will force the sheriff to start releasing allegedly "non-violent" offenders into the community.

Overcrowding? No problem! Just build a Tent City jail like Maricopa County, AZ Sheriff Joe Arpaio
When Arpaio took office, inmates were routinely being released early due to overcrowding. Arpaio believed that "courts, not head count" should determine when an inmate is released, and that no officer should be deterred from making an arrest for fear that the inmate would be released due to jail overcrowding.
However, a new jail would have cost Maricopa County taxpayers around US$70 million. So instead, Arpaio obtained used tents from the military, and established Tent City in a parking lot adjacent to one of the jail facilities. As an announcement to future inmates that they should not expect early release upon overcrowding, but more tents instead, Arpaio added a (pink neon) "Vacancy" sign to the outside of Tent City.
During the summer of 2003, when outside temperatures exceeded 110 °F (43 °C), which is higher than average, Arpaio said to complaining inmates, "It's 120 degrees in Iraq and the soldiers are living in tents and they didn't commit any crimes, so shut your mouths."
Make all narcotics legal then there will be no problems. Jail not overcrowded, dont have to pay coppers to go to dope court, no bullshit law suits as coppers wont be signing complaints anymore. In fact no one gets arrested untill the victim gets a judge to sign off on an arrest report. Thats what they want give it to them. You know they are not goingto expand the jail, they are goingto let the criminals out.
Well thats what happens when the community is overcrowded w/ criminals (FYI - those are the same ones who don't like or trust the police). Just thing those are only the ones that the crook county states atty. decided to prosecute and not the ones that they DENIED. Crime only pays in crook county. how about a 2 strikes rule or something to permantly get rid of these scum/drains of society.
When she gets in there, she's gonna gag on the smell. I guarantee it.
Now imagine how the staff that works there feels about it. I don't imagine too many of them wake up each morning and say "Damn. I just can't wait to get to work."
SCC- It's actually 9,960 aminals and maybe 40 people.
I think the judge should go to Englewood on a Friday evening as the Sun is going down and she'll forget all about conditions opposed to public safety.
It is a fucking jail, not a 5 star hotel. I would venture to say 99.9% of the people who are in there are guilty and the other .1% are probably guilty of something else.
What is the matter with sleeping in shifts? How about putting them to work somehow to earn their keep.
The John Howard Association has no clue, let the Sheriff's people do their job.
Don't let burglars and thieves out to victimize others so do-gooders can feel better about themselves.
I worked the jail before getting on CPD. The jail is nothing compared to what it used to be.
I along with several other people on the CPD could tell you stories about cell doors that didn't lock in Div I & V. Jail supervisors ordering you to tamper with evidence after escapes and homicides to cover the countys incompetant ass. Big bosses caught selling the inmates food. ETC, ETC, ETC.
You want to find the real criminals? They are in jail. Some stay there for years and a large group put in an 8 hour shift.
The judge shouldn't be shocked when she walks in. An 8 hour tour in 7,10, or 11 would scare you more than the jail.
while in the academy, they took us on a tour of county. Wow! What animals. I hope the judge wears her robes so the sh!theads know exactly who she is!!!!
They deserve the best possible care. We should provide each cell with a plasma T.V., couches, home theater systems, and refridgerators that are stocked daily. When I become President I will make sure all inmates and their families get free health care. I will make Martha Stewart Director of all U.S. prisons, she will decorate all cells. Don't forget to vote for me. Obama Barak

Arpaio is the best he treats the criminals like they should be treated! On the other hand the libreral dumbocrat dart will coddle them if he can! Fuck them put them in cages outside maybe they could borrow some from the zoo and we could have another attraction! Would be cool for the olympic committee to see the caged on display! dart don't set them free or at least if you do send them to the russian gulags!
Its true that for some of the people we lock up county jail isnt really a step back in accomidations. They'll drive a 70 thousand dollar car, and live in a rat roach and feces smelling hell hole. They could triple the capcity of the county jail if they made all inmates "hot rack" it like on a Navy submarine. You get the cott for 8 hours and share it with two other guys in shifts. Where in the law is it said that jail is to rehabilitate and educate offenders of the law. I thought that jail time was supposed to a punishment not the Holiday Inn. For the larger chicago land gang culture the county jail is more like a convention center to meet, greet, and network with other gang members.
I agrees wit tha Tent idea. We's can have a good ol' fashin Tent Revival. Praise tha Lawd!
im sure dart will clean up the jail before the judge gets her tour just like CHA cleaned up the robt taylor homes and put water in the pool before clinton visited the taylor homes in the mid 90's
Hey,take her to the Brookfield or Lincoln Park Zoo.It all bee da same,Office...
I hope there is a mini riot when she is there and gets her liberal ass kicked by some of the "residents"
26th and kali is Chicagos third zoo.
If she wants to get a "real" feel for how County Jail is, have her sit in the bullpen for 6 hours waiting for bond court. She may get a seat on the bench, otherwise she'll get a seat next to some dope addict going thru withdrawl. Sanitary Conditions? Please. That jail couldn't be sanitary if you hired 200 polish maids to clean the place 24/7. Its a craphole, and will always be one. Tom Dart is a moron.
Wow I wonder if it has anything to do with elections.
I apologize if I don't sound sympathetic, but jail isn't place where a criminal should get or feel comfortable in. This is the biggest crock of BS I've heard.
Hell they're treated better than the homeless, who gives a damn if they have to sleep on the floor. It's a jail not the Holiday Inn.
I spent ten years in Germany and the reason why the jails are always empty is no one is trying to go there like they do in the states. No hot meals or hot water, when the sun goes down that's it for the lights because there is no electricity for cell use. People avoid jail because they don't want to be there. OK, back to reality these guys eat good, exercise, bathe. I'll tell you what, if the judge is so concerned tell her to let her people know, make it uncomfortable for these jerks and they won't be there to complain
Let the guided tour begin!!
"You want to find the real criminals? They are in jail. Some stay there for years and a large group put in an 8 hour shift."
Bingo!We have a winner!
Sailors on submarines share beds and sleep in shifts, why shouldn't prisoners at the jail?
To paraphrase Arpaio, if it is good enough for the sailors who didn't commit a crime, it should be good enough for those who commit crimes and belong in jail.
The Keesing Bandit says---
Share a bed with a sailor???
Where do I sign up??
Now, kees me you fool!!!
