Is this really the most judicious use of taxpayer dollars?
Despite an enormous police presence, including a special escort for ABLA kids to and from the West Side school, nearly half of the students at Crane didn't show up for classes Monday -- the first day back after spring break.
One-day attendance dipped to 52.8 percent -- even less than the 55.2 percent average attendance for the entire week after Crane junior Ruben Ivy was shot to death a half block from the school, Chicago Public Schools officials said.
A specially assigned bus. Police escort front and back. Aldercreature and more police on standby. A constant stream of Closed Market cars and who knows what else around the entire neighborhood. And we get this letter in the e-mail box:
- SCC, Manley high school, blocks from the Crane show of police presence, ended up in a riot today with a dozen kids going to jail, all over one of those "buck-fifty" hats. And if it isn't Manley, it's Marshall. And when it isn't Marshall, it's Orr. And if any of those high schools are tired out, it's Farragut or Little Village picking up the slack.
Funny how we don't see any coverage of the melee at Manley. Until someone has a toe-tag on them, they aren't news, we guess.

The sad thing about this is, the kids, and their parents, complain about the "police state" atmosphere in the schools. Well, here's a special message to the parents of all these angels.
YOU come to school and watch your kid all day. Sit in classes with Junior, or Junior Miss. Eat with them in the lunchroom. Take gym with your little darlings too. And why not? Many of the parents at some of these heathen academies don't hold regular employment. If you're not working, come to school and maintain control of what your child learns, says, and interacts with. It certainly can't make things any worse than they are. Who knows? The school might even make a "double miracle" occur...education of the child AND the dropout parent! Wouldn't that be something....
Why is Obama waiting to be President inorder to CHANGE this? They need some HOPE now.
Don't forget South Shore high school, CVS, Bowen, Washington, Julian, fuck...which schools never riot??? CPS is fucked up just like the people it serves.
The real story shouldn't be these kids from Abla.
The real story is the daily 50% attendance rate.

I know I know a brother is running for president but (since race is at the fore front, lets answer the question) why is there one, and only one common denominator in these problems at these schools? Why do black schools (Orr, Marshall, Crane, Julian etc etc) have all the problems while the white schools have no problems? Why can black students be "excused" for fear while white students are not afforded the same opportunity? Why when I ask these qustions am I a racist, when if Im a shade darker Im a revolutionary?
Tax dollars being wasted on escorts to those who do not say "thank you" but rather say "you dint give no fuck then why you give a fuck now?" I was listening to talk radio today and the one host was saying it was all the city's fault for putting these different gang members from different CHA complexes together.

It's sad to see that race continues to be an issue in this day and age. I'm a P/O (16 years), a parent and a tax payer and up until recently was about to send my oldest to Marist until the unfortunate incident there. Yes! The culprit was a M/1 but that's not the real issue. The real issue is that by the time we as the police have to address these issues in the schools it's already too late. Our Mayor in all his wisdom seems to be more concerned about the Olympics than he is aboout the Public School System, the Police Department or anything else that doesn't directly benefit him or someone closely related to him. We as a Race (The Human race) need to wake up before it's TRULY TOO LATE! (M/1/38)

It should be interesting what happens. Operation Closed Market is officially shut down as of today. They replaced it with a special functions unit to address school violence. It consists of Headquarters staff, mostly by reverse seniority, for a 3 period "detail". Every day of the school week (Monday thru Friday), for 3 months, this is unofficially the new school patrol unit.
And if it isn't Orr it's St. Ignatius or Loyola or the Latin School. Oh wait... no problems there.
I just got detailed to this new 90 day detail to babysit these fine young kids, tell their parent or parents to come watch from a secluded placed when little pookie exits school, boy will trhey be surprised, Im not going to exert any energy to control them, and if u do then uncle REV will cry POOlice be brutalizin all the future Rhodes Scholars.
