1. This officer's actions were self-administered alcohol induce. In layman's terms: OVERSERVED
2. This officer has an undiagnosed medical condition, such as diabetes (a person who has diabetes and drinks alcohol can turn violent due to becoming hypoglycemic) or even a brain tumor.
3. This officer had a drug dropped into his drink and caused him to become violent and hallucinate.
(I believe this maybe used by his attorney)
So before us fellow coppers as well as the new boss jumps the gun on this guy, no matter what his background is, I would wait till the investigation is over before committing any comments about this incident.
If it does come back as reason 2 or 3 as stated above, do you or the bosses want to be on public record sounding like an asshole because it wasn't this officer's fault?
Remember, give the courtesy to other that you would want granted to you in time of trouble or need.

When all is said and done, your only job is to make sure you and your partner go home at the end of the day!
I for one can't leave this job, for money reasons. I believe 99.9% are still on this job for the same reason. Lets just do the job that we we took and hold our heads high!! We do a great job protecting the people of chicago. I for one prey that my children will never know what the hundred club is about.

a while back, while flying out of ohare, I saw guy I locked up for theft from person. He was working the crowd. I got on the airport phone and was connected to the cpd office. I explained the situation and was transferrd to the tact unit.
the crime fighter that answered told me that if I was so concerned I should lock him up myself, he then hung up.

Outcome may affect pending drug-possession case, town spokesman says

Cicero officials said Tuesday they are withholding the results of a police commander's second drug test because its disclosure might jeopardize his drug-possession case.
Chicago police found a burned marijuana cigarette and 4.6 grams of the drug in his car when they pulled Wesley Scott over for running a stop sign on Jan. 27, authorities said.
Scott had passed a urine test administered on Feb. 1, but officials concede that was not the drug test initially intended for Scott, 47. He took a hair-follicle test Feb. 19.
Officials received the long-awaited results of the hair-follicle test last week but will not disclose them until Scott's case is adjudicated, town spokesman Dan Proft said Tuesday.
"Because we have a pending court case, rather than introducing evidence that could possibly be used by either side, we're going to hold our powder and wait for that case to run its course," Proft said.
The decision by town officials to withhold the results of Scott's hair-follicle test comes two weeks after they revealed he had passed the urine test.
Scott took at least two vacation days after the January incident and tried to demote himself to the position of patrolman the day before his scheduled drug test. The town has not acted on his request to resign his commander position, Proft said.
Under the police contract, patrol officers may submit only to a urine test, and consequences for drug use are less severe than those for commanders.
Scott, who remains on paid administrative leave from his $80,000-a-year job, has declined to answer questions on the matter. Under the town's zero-tolerance drug policy for employees not under a union contract, Scott could lose his job if he tests positive.
He is scheduled to appear at 9 a.m. Thursday for a hearing on the drug-possession charges at Chicago Police Belmont Area headquarters, Proft said.

a while back, while flying out of ohare, I saw guy I locked up for theft from person. He was working the crowd. I got on the airport phone and was connected to the cpd office. I explained the situation and was transferrd to the tact unit.
the crime fighter that answered told me that if I was so concerned I should lock him up myself, he then hung up.
Those clowns couldn't handle a 12yo kid thrown water balloons.

1) Devaluing of profession in the public eye by high profile scandals. The few bad actors have, fairly or not, successfully tarnished the image of the entire profession.
2) Social/racial unrest shook the nation, culminating with the 1968 Democrat convention. I enjoyed seeing the hippies get a wood shampoo. But many of them were college kids who actually graduated and became journalists, political activists or college professors. These groups along with the Revs foment the lion's share of anti-police sentiment in the US to this day
3) Technology. People can have a video camera in their wristwatch these days for chrissakes. Selective editing of such footage gave birth to the myth of mean racist Po-Po unjustly beating on poor innocent "motorist" Rodney King. Believe it or not, that single incident was in fact the death blow for Daddy's Dept of old

There are 13500 police officers (that term includes all members of this department, po's, det, sgts, lts, capts, commanders etc.) There are 10005 people assigned to the department as 9161 PATROLMEN, if they were to say 13500 patrolmen then you should question the numbers.
These numbers are available to all via the business objects suite on the IClear system.
The numbers that we can't get, and I'm not sure they even exsist are the budgeted spots. How many
9161's are actually budgeted and in turn how many spots are we down?
Those are the cold numbers we need our Bargaining Unit (they are not a union in the traditional sense) to obtain from the city.
I am sure J.D. from 006 is getting promoted. Violent Crime up 4%, Burglaries up 20%, led the City in homicides. The sarge you mentioned will be put out to pasture in a little more than a month. They don't want him out due to a med. cond., and he doesn't have the patience to deal with the muckedy-mucks who wander in up to the desk. Most of A/2 is up in violent crime, burglaries and robberies. Can't fault the bosses with limited bodies and spillage from the torn down 'jects. Years ago, I was working special enjoyment at O hare, some rocket scientist decides to bring a 35mm film container filled with coke and gets caught by the TSA. Working the gate, I place her into custody and call for an O'hare officer to process her because we cannot leave. A crusty, disheveled, dog ass arrives and proceeds to bitch and complain that I'm interrupting something else important like nap time or stuffing his face for a PCS arrest. I asked him if he would like to take my position and I could process the arrest and he became even more pissed. Totally worthless, waste of skin.

I don't know what they do nowadays, but up until a few years ago the number of filled positions versus the number of budgeted positions were shown on the weekly strength report, which was available on the intranet. That report is that which is used as the basis for making promotions.
To answer a few questions. I've personally seen the following exempts at 10-1's in the last couple of years; Tina Skahill, Dan Dugan, Elia Voulgaris, Jim Jackson and Phil Cline, all out of their cars and attempting to help! As for Big Bird, he isn't going anywhere, early 50's and no one else would hire him.
Sodini's dad was the best, by far the best, Street Sergeant/Supervisor I had seen or served under in 24 years on this job.
If Ron Jr. was half the man he was, he'd be a great boss.

Many years ago Area 3 Detectives Ron Sodini and Gary Yomishuroya went to school while they were supposed to be at work. Now both these "hard-charging" do nothing incompetent fuck-ups are commanders. This department is a total fucking disgrace. With very few exceptions there are no leaders in this department. I think that bar is owned by a clouted Irish family in Norwood Park. There's a female family member on the cpd and "Quarter'sBoyle" is related to that place.
For the record, when Sodini drove his car into the wet cement, he took it like a man and let a picture of him stuck in the cement hang in the lobby of the 012th District for about two years for the citizens and P.O.s to see. Tac teams are there to work overtime in plain cloths so that they are not flagged down by visitors, TSA, and passengers to O'Hare.
This way they can look for woman and have long lunches unabated during their 6 hour days.
And sneak in and out of the hilton.
They just don't have time to handle calls.

We are budgeted for lets say
10,000 TOTAL man power
(thats 10,000 PAY CHECKS!)
We only have 9,000 ACTUAL PEOPLE!
(Supt, D/S, AD/S, CDR, Capt, Lt, Sgt, P/O's. Including Med, IOD...)
Where did the 1000 missing paychecks go?

There are no tac teams at Midway because it is a tiny airport. O'hare is huge, a small city, and yes they need a tac team, they handle alot of thefts, burglaries and a ton of warrants, shoplifters etc. they are actually quite busy.
Big bird will be in area 1 for the next period so people who work there be on your toes.

At the last FOP General meeting (Feb 19, 2008) the count was slightly over 12,000 dues paying sworn below the rank of Sgt.
The FOP counts dues paying officers, not hocus pocus paychecks or some other unprovable number that some completely reliable unknown dude pulls out of their ass.
So now will some conspiracy nuts come on and post how it is all lies? Is the FOP in cahoots to inflate he number of PO's? For what purpose? This is sounding like grassy knoll stuff.
I have been to most FOP meetings in the past three years and these last few months the count of dues paying PO's (PO, ET, Det etc.) has been right around 12,000.
If this is wrong, false, contrived etc. then PROVE IT. Get some evidence, make it public, you know, the usual way one proves something.

Before the 1980's the prime occupation for criminals was armed robber.
People who went downtown to work were often robbed at gunpoint. Women were afraid of not only being robbed, but also raped. People felt a criminal's touch and they hated criminals. People didn't care how police did their job as long as criminals were put behind bars.
After 1990, the prime criminal occupation is drug dealer. Only a fool runs around downtown today robbing people with a gun facing 20+ years if he's caught. People don't feel the touch of crime like they did 20 years ago. Crime is a ghetto problem.
The drug war also changed the way police do their job. Back in the day, police spent time following up on crimes with victims. Today, in the ghetto districts, almost all police do is look for drugs. Reports of theft, burglary, and robbery are pushed aside.
The changes create a lot of resentment in the ghetto. People don't see the police as providing a service. These people stop cooperating with the police and criminals feel free to commit crimes in the open. Then these same people openly complain that police are causing the problem. The rest of the city reads or sees the complaints and think the police are in the wrong.
After all, most people in this city think its OK for a criminal to go free as long as they don't have to hand over money to some thug sticking a gun in their face.

Years ago, I was working special enjoyment at O hare, some rocket scientist decides to bring a 35mm film container filled with coke and gets caught by the TSA. Working the gate, I place her into custody and call for an O'hare officer to process her because we cannot leave. A crusty, disheveled, dog ass arrives and proceeds to bitch and complain that I'm interrupting something else important like nap time or stuffing his face for a PCS arrest. I asked him if he would like to take my position and I could process the arrest and he became even more pissed. Totally worthless, waste of skin.
Hey Jody if you are reading this, O'Hare is an international hub where visitors from around the world come to Chicago and their first contact with the Chicago Police may be with officers like this goof. I think its time to make some changes.

I also worked special employment at O'Hare a few times in the past year, but sorry to break it to you the problem is and continues to be TSA wanting to be THE POLICE and stir-up nonsense. I agree that there is a bit of dead weight at O'Hare but for the most part since 911 the few PO's that I've seen are pretty young have to handle all the BS jobs for those goofs. And I also agree that it is a place that Jody should check out because it is really sad to see what a bunch of morons run the place.
