Budget Gap Filled

  • CANTON (Ohio) For residents tired of that overgrown lot that resembles a minijungle next door, the city wants to help by trying to put high-grass violators behind bars.

City Council wants to beef up its existing high-grass and weeds law by making a second offense a fourth-degree misdemeanor, which is punishable by a fine of up to $250 and up to 30 days in jail.
With so many foreclosures, there are properties across the city with no one maintaining the lawns. Who holds the paper on the property? Banks. And banks have lots of money. Daley ought to start up a "Overgrown Grass and Weed" unit to hunt down banks who aren't keeping lawns trimmed nicely. And while he's at it, a "Dandelion Enforcement" squad.

It's better than Eddie Burke's proposed unit that goes looking for dogs' nuts.

As dumb as you made it sound that law already exists here. Well,at least partially. You see, if your lawn is too high you receive a fine. I know this first hand because I was at the city building on Chicago Av and Kedzie in a hearing room for a different matter and there were at least 10 people fighting tickets for high grass/weeds. This was along with all of the people trying to fight tickets issued by cameras. Which really makes you wonder....if the City is "broke" and they are screwing and ripping off citizens for bullshit like this daley, where would the City be if they stopped ripping off the citizens daley? We need some new t-shirts... Paid weakly and screwed Daley

Some people claim that 011 is just one overgrown vacant lot, albeit six square miles plus.

Where do all those homicide victims come from? Are they all dump jobs slain elsewhere?

I OBJECT!

How dare you belittle our beloved alderman, Oily Eddie Burke's, idea that police officers examine for dog's testicles by lifting their tails. Why I myself became a member of our beloved alderman's security detail by lifting the alderman's nuts. He was so pleased with my work that he had me placed on his detail. I think that you, SCC, owe our beloved alderman an apology.

PS: If more of your readers were willing to feel someone's nuts they would go places on the job.
Ask any exempt.

Theodore (Beaver) Cleaver used to cut grass in his neighborhood. See if you can find him.

Wasn't the mayor crying about no summer jobs for gangbangers, er teenagers? Well "back in the day", the neighborhood kids would cut the lawn, shovel the snow, etc. for $$$$$.

This isn't global corporate planning, it's cutting lawns. Oh wait, might take away $$ from the illegals. Perhaps a clouted HDO landscaping company will land a multi-million deal with the city to take care of the private property private owners are supposed to care for anyway.

To the poster asking about where the victims in 011 come from, are you kidding?? 011 is one big assed dope spot.A dope spot on every block, these scum bags just stand there with a "PLEASE OH PLEASE BUST A CAP IN MY ASS" look on their faces. You think it was bad with 39 people shot in one weekend just wait till 80 degree's kick in and watch the fireworks. When they try to place blame on CPD we gonna respond but this is the police department you wanted defanged, deteethed and low morale.

Don't worry the Chicago Christian industrial league will be cutting the grass in these vacant lots right after they are done planting flowers, weeding, watering and picking up the cigarette butts
in the center median along Madison.
