Hockey News

  • The Blackhawks have fired Dan Kelly as their television play-by-play announcer in a move that almost certainly will grease the skids for Pat Foley's return to the Hawks.

''We have notified Dan he won't be returning as our play-by-play broadcaster,'' said Hawks president John McDonough, who would not comment on whether he intends to approach Foley.

The Blackhawks on free TV. Young talent in the pipeline. Foley in the booth. What next?

The Turner Cup died with the IHL. The Wolves are playing for the Calder Cup.

BTW. The Hawks will make the playoffs next year and be serious contenders for The Cup in two to three.

Those who think hockey is not a sport should remove their tampax and try it.

Not only are they great athletes but you don't see too many of their carrers cut short because of gunshot wounds or incarceration. (Sorry basketball fans)

Hey Tampax Comment Man -

You're not a real hockey fan if you make that comment about careers not being cut short due to incarceration... what do the names Bob Probert, Theo Fleury, Ryan Vandenbuusch and Mark Bell do for you? Those are just a few very talented hockey players (and Hawks) that has ended up behind bars and whose careers hit the skids because of it.

Geez, I'm a hetero chick and I even know that. Grab a copy of The Hockey News and study up before next season my friend.

Remember the "Superstars" from the 70's? If you are too young to remember, it was a weekly competition on one of the major networks that pitted teams from different sports against eachother. They would have tug-of-war, bike races, obstacle course... you get the picture. Anyway the team consisting of NHL players seemed to always win. These guys were the best conditioned athletes hands down. You are a goof to say hockey is not a sport. You probably like thug-ball.

Mark Bell is presently serving a six month sentence for dui, played this year for Toronto until he broke his wrist. Will be back for training camp, rear ended a vehicle at a stop sign in San Jose.
Had he not been an athlete he would have received probation no jail. Blew .18
When was Fluerry incarcerated? He is presently living in New Mexico and playing for Belfast in the European league. Locked up for disorderly for not leaving a strip club when the bouncers told him to leave. Failed the drug test two times for cocaine on third occasion refused to submit urine banned for life from the league.
Theo was the unnamed victim of sexual abuse in Sheldon Kennedys book. He was sexually abused from 12 until 17, give him a break.

Ryan Vanderbrusch is out of hockey and was arrested by the Ontario Provincial police for battery.
Admitted alcoholic in recovery.

Poor Bob Probie probert served six months for having 24 grams of cannabis on his person at the us border. Bob recently arrested in Orlando for battery to three p/os after going berserk in a tavern. Probert is broke Roenick and Chelios have a benefit planned for him. He has been in rehab four times. Please don't compare these men to the felons in the national football league or what you people call basketball, thug ball.

When has a hockey player acted like tank Johnson or had their wives whacked? Lets talk about the baseball players.

How come that NHL does not have a paternity clause in the players association contract like our friends in the NBA and National Felony League. The NHL has a salary cap, no paternity insurance like our other reproductive atheletes.

I'm not a douche bag and hockey is still not a sport. I didn't say it doesn't take talent or is easy. I suppose tap dancing takes talent and wiping your ass with sandpaper can't be easy. But neither are sports. In fact both come closer to sports than those foreign activities like hockey, soccer and jai alai.

Webster's Dictionary definition of "sport". 1. an often competitive athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess. 2.diversion; recreation. I don't know what your on, but hockey fits the definition of a sport. You must still be scarred from being cut from the High School hockey team.

to the pp smoocher who says hockey is not a sport. hockey is the ultimate team sport. the only one close and possibly equal is football. by the way, the hawks just raised ticket prices again by a considerable sum. i haven't been to a game there in years. watch it all on csn soon to be wgn. go to many wolves games though. reasonable and good time for kids.

It seems that ping pong fits your little definition but niether are sports. Ping pong at least has a ball, so it's closer to being a sport. Go to Canada or Russia to play that silly activity. Otherwise, learn to hit a baseball. Baseball is a sport and it's American.
