- Calling the growing amount of violence in Chicago an "emergency," Gov. Rod Blagojevich on Tuesday announced a plan to spend $30 million funding summer jobs programs, $20 million on after-school programs and $100 million to rebuild crumbling neighborhoods, support local businesses that create jobs and help police departments buy equipment.
And where is the money coming from? Well... no one knows:
- Chicago Mayor Richard Daley, who last week announced a $1.5 million initiative support the city's partnerships with the schools, the park district, after school programs and leading corporations, said the governor is well-intentioned, but said there's no money behind his proposal."You need the beef, that's the old story. And you need the money," Daley said. "At least he's proposing this, but where are you going to get the money?"
We've got a general idea where it's coming from - another old democrat standby.
Raise taxes.
God forbid you build more prisons, or reform failed schools, or maybe rebuild the manufacturing base. None of those tried and true business models for Blago and Richie - they'll just marry themselves to a tightening death spiral of taxing the businesses into moving out of state and sticking it to the middle class.

Instead of throwing perfectly good money at the ghetto thugs, why not give some of this money to the CPD to hire more coppers, update their weapons, buy new squad cars, new radios, etc. It would be cheaper and I would be willing to bet a lot more effective in the long run.

Speaking of wasted money, here's an article that proves that the use of closed-circuit cameras saturated throughout London has turned out to be a complete and total failure. The cameras are ineffective in both stopping or solving crimes.

Its a start: The Daley Crime Family has TWENTY TWO bodyguards assigned to their personal needs and protection. Their saleries would amount to almost TWO MILLION dollars a year.
Its not fair that the OUTFIT, Chicago's other crime family has to pay for their own drivers, guards, etc.
The Daley Crime family, all millionaires, should pay for their own security and donate those saved CPD saleries to the "children"
