Shooting Map
Here's a link to the Google Map that Channel 2 is using to track shootings in Chicago. It appears to be updated through 04 May.
As the title states, it shows shootings, so it's missing a whole bunch of killings - domestic related mostly, but stabbings, vehicular homicides and others.
Some other helpful readers sent links to see if we could embed the map into our sidebar. We're going to fiddle with it and see if it's feasible. Thanks to everyone who sent help along.

zoom the map in. makes everything much clearer. you can read street names and everything. you zoom in far enough, you can see the crime scene tape and chalk outlines!

They interview one lady after TRU does a outside roll call there and she says "it's funny they come around here when the 3 year old gets shot, but I hope too see more of them."
Two things:
1. The south side or let me be frank "the ghetto" gets more police service than the "nicer" areas of Chicago.
2. Proof outdoor roll calls mean jackshit.

Is this a political poll? Reminds me of the colors used during the last Presidential Election. Nice grouping...too bad thugs don't understand proper handgun control.
Hey I got some great ideas to reduce the murder rate here in Chicago:
1. Da Mayor can buy these thugs bullet proof vests to wear on the streets.
2. Teach thugs to street dance between bullets like that dude from the Matrix.
3. Mandatory Anger Management for all thugs arrested for Gang loitering.
4. Authorize conceal carry and issue Dvds of that movie Tombstone to citizens.
5. Start a-hire-back-program for gang thugs to hire off-duty coppers to act as their personal body guards as a secondary employment opportunity.
6. Pay thugs not to kill people and issue honorable mentions to survivors of Agg. Batt w/gun.
7. Legalize drugs.
8. Offer $500.00 gift certificates to eye witnesses who cooperate by testifying against thugs in court.
9. Hold a Peace Summit at 26th Street/IDOC.
10. Stop wasting money on Big Capital Projects and invest in the communities to improve living conditions for everyone.
i count two shot and 1 fatal missing from 011.
I think the map is broken, No pins in Mt Greenwood or Edison Pk. Why is that?
