No Money for Raises...

...but by golly, we'll have blue garbage cans out there shortly!
  • The mayor put off the blue cart expansion until July 1, meaning that far fewer households would have made the switch.

Now, City Hall has done a complete about-face -- forging ahead with a curbside program it once dismissed as cost-prohibitive. And how will it be financed?

"We're going to stop paying for re-sorting of recyclables. That's money we can use to pay for the program. We are also going to be taking in more money through the sale of recyclables in the blue cart areas," Smith said, without revealing specific dollar amounts.

No contract though. And we're going to bet no Tahoes either.

Here we go again...The River Front/walk project. 1.5 million dollars for summer "jobs" to give the gang-bangin', dope sellin' bastards somthing to do other than kill each other. The underground kids museum. More parks, sidewalks, street lamps and city services on the West and South sides. Blue cans for recyclables. Flat screen tvs on buses, trains and in their respective stations to monitor "on-time efficiency". New buses because the majority of the current fleet is outdated/inefficient. Multi-hundred thousand dollar study to find the root of yet another ghetto problem any normal 10 year old can figure out.

And what are we getting? A big, fat dick in our collective ass. I'll bet my next check that the aldermen get a nice, fat raise when the time comes. Same applies to the crooks under Todd's helm.

PLEASE stop generating revenue for our dictator of a mayor. No movers, parkers, impounds, etcetera unless absolutley necessary. And when the bosses mandate activity and threaten reprecussions, ask them to put their demands on paper. Or beg them to discipline you for not meeting the "index". Don't be afraid when the boss threatens you with pulling you off "your" car; just document everything said/done, and maybe even make them aware that you're putting everything on paper. The majority of these bosses don't have a spine and are afraid of any kind of confrontaton that may negatively effect them; this is because they don't want to upset/embarrass their clout. If/when things do get bad, notify the media outlets and provide them with evidence/documentation of how this fucked-up department really operates (not that they don't already know). We've been getting fucked forever and now seems like the most opportune time in quite a while to take a stand against this bullshit regime/machine. Stay safe, my brothers and sisters in blue.

You can forget about the Aluminum cans! They get taken away by all the homeless people and sold for scrap before the city can send out a truck to pick it up!

Then again why let the city make extra money! That's all they gonna due anyway! They're in it for the buck!

Wow, I just got back from the St. Judes March which I have proudly attended for many many years, but it still amazes me that the police think that we own the city. First off why disobey red lights in the loop, where the public can see this, then blow your sirens at people who have the right of way while crossing the streets, then drive like idiots cutting each other off trying to get into the lots, we all know this is a bad location for the parade so justr leave a little earlier.
Then i heard cops arguing with the TMA's and the lot workers about where they want you to park, it's bad enough that the public is looking down at us, why act like clowns. I overheard one young police officer yelling at a TMA, saying IT's OUR DAY, well pal, its not your day, it's for the officers not lucky enough to be with us anymore and thier families, so grow up boys and girls.

Since recycling is profitable (for those companies that do it) why not let a private waste hauler provide the blue containers and remove the stuff every week?

WE have to flex our political muscle. This November, we should get together with the firefighters and all county and suburban law enforcement officers and target Anita Alverez. She is a cop hater, and if Jody does away with the shooting roundtables she can indite any cop on any shooting. All that has to happen is some reverend get his face on TV between the time of the shooting and the Grand Jury meeting which can be weeks later.

If we can get her, then maybe the politicians will fear us just a little. A great thing would be to run a cop or firefighter against every alderman every election. Make them spend money and answer questions.

Here's a thought, the FOP, PBPA and IAFF should hire a full time Labor Investigative Reporter. Someone who will ask the questions, in public, at news conferences that Fran Spelman will not. The questions that will send Richie into a red-faced sputtering spazz attack for all the world to see.

Stay safe, make them fear us!

Does tht mean the west siders are going to start throwing trash in the appropriate bins? they can't even throw trash away in the large brown garbage bins in the alley. Have you ever seen the litter "scenery" along the Eisenhower? It's embarassing to this city... and the mayor wants the Olympics?? The whole Eisenhower is full of paper, plastic, bottles and chicken bones.

That "Chopper buzzing Mt. Greenwood" might just save the life of a copper! A few chases (cars and foot) involving some serious felons have come to a successful conclusion due to the direct assistance of the Helicopter unit! Be grateful that this Dept. is, however slowly, beign dragged into the next century of policing with a COPTER!
We can't chase bad guys in cars anymore, but Copter 1 or 2 might just help us circumvent our chase regulations and get us close enough to get some violent asshole off the streets. Remember, we're all in this together people. Stay safe, as always, and back each other up.

No money but we can pay the Sup 300K. We can create Chiefs and Dep Chiefs positions where none exsisted before. Instead of cutting the beuracracy, the new Sup,. being ordered by Daley is increasing it. J-Fed says we need SUV's and M4's. He has access to the budget right? He knows how much these things cost and how to pay for them right? So obviouly there is money there. What about closing a couple districts and gettimg rid of a couple commanders? Can't do that, Daley doesn't want to piss off any aldercreaters.

There is money to pay us. Daley just hates the police. We are his scapecoats and he just doesn't want to pay us. Remember what he siad when he hired J-Fed. I had to pay to get the best, Well Mr. Mayor, you want the best police force, pay up.

I think St Jude and the Memorial Foundation are great things. However, what offends me is that Phil Cline put so much effort and resources into honoring the dead (and creating his retirement job) and nothing into a new academy and training officers in survival tactics. How many of you know that the State of Illinois only requires a policeman to get 400 hours of training yet to be a beautician you need a minimum of 1200 hours..How many of you know that within those 400 hours there is not one hour directly focused on officer survival. How many of you know that Officer survival is often one of the first blocks of instruction cut when the academy scales back. Recently I saw to officers working together, each with less then three years and one was still a ppo. On a traffic stop the ppo approached alone while his partner remained seated in the car. The ppo then walked back to his squad with his back to the auto..We do as we practice when under stress. I spoke with the officers about this..Well, with the budget cuts I guess there goes the new academy as well....

If your are interested in defensive tactics check out www.bjjsouthside. Uflacker Academy located at 7355 w. Archer rd. in Summit. Taught by a Brazilian blackbelt from Rio promoted by Carlos Gracie Jr. Lots of cops in the morning and afternoon classes, good bunch of guy no experience needed. You can't rely on what you learned in the academy. Make defensive tactics part of your lifestyle.

CAN'T PAY FOR POLICE!!!
BASIC CRIME AND ORDER EXPENSE!!!
MURDER CAPITOL OF U.S. IN 2008!!!

absolute inadequacy in elected leadership!!
Gun Control fruitless (criminal wants gun, they get gun)
CPS, I love it in my neighborhood where parents care, elsewhere, that is there problem.
VERY SIMPLE:
GIVE A SHIT ABOUT YOUR KIDS
DON'T LET THEM RUN WILD
BE AN AUTHORITY FIGURE
HELP WITH THEIR HOMEWORK
MAKE TIME FOR THEM

It is NOT YOUR JOB to be your KIDS FRIEND! You must be a parent! Teach them right from wrong, slap them if they need it, take away the damn play station!
THEY MAY HATE YOU!
BUT YOU DID THE RIGHT THING!!!
YOU TOUGHT THEM THE RIGHT WAY!!!
I SUCKS, BUT YOU ARE ALL THEY GOT!!!

Parts of 22 have been using the blue cans for a while, and let me predict now - that their use throughout the city will lead to a dramitic increase in RATS. They are only picked up EVERY OTHER WEEK, so in the summer the cans of grape soda, and unrinsed cans of food will bake in the heat and attract rats and animals. GROSS. There is garbage all over the ghetto and this is just another idea that is not going to work unless they are picked up every week.

Does the Mayor really think that people who throw dirty diapers, mattresses and their daily garbage onto the roofs next door to them are going to use blue bags? Really? Is he that fucking stupid? Or more to the point, does he think that WE are that stupid? More wasted tax dollars.
