A mother of five faces felony charges after allegedly getting into a fight with an officer when police converged on her South Side home. But the woman's lawyer says the officers "beat and brutalized" her, and the Independent Police Review Authority is reviewing the incident.
Sonya Crawford, 41, is charged with aggravated battery of a police officer for her alleged actions Tuesday night.
Police arrested six people, including two juveniles, at the Crawford home. At least one other person will face felony charges, Bond said. One of the people arrested, 18-year-old Elijah Henderson, has a difficult history with police.
Defense lawyer Andre Grant criticized the police conduct, saying "20 to 30 police officers came in, guns drawn. There was no arrest warrant."
Grant pleaded with Judge Maura Slattery Boyle to give Crawford an I-bond, which requires no cash. But Boyle set bond at $15,000.
According to Chicago Police spokeswoman Monique Bond, police officers from the Gresham District were checking for seat belts at a traffic stop when a driver sped away and fled to the Crawford residence.

I stood in front of Pincham a few years ago when he was at 26th St. A motion hearing was being conducted. Andre Grant, I thought his name was spelled Gant at the time, was representing the shithead. Grant fucked up this hearing so much and Pincham had to keep telling him what to do. I was amazed that the judge actually conducted the defense or this dog. Grant is one of the dummest I have ever see at 26th.
