Good News!

Back on 03 March, we wrote about an ABC 20/20 item that was going to further rock the CPD world:

• J-Fed spoke to a meeting of Watch Commanders last week. And he confirmed that the story that had been circulating in our comment sections a few months back is true. The basics are as follows:
  
• ABC's 20/20 bought tickets to a CPD/UIC combined event and filmed it. Alcohol was consumed on site and after the event concluded, more alcohol was consumed at a well known drinking establishment. One or more officers were filmed at the event, at the bar, entering their cars and driving off
• Calls were made to OEMC and car descriptions were given along with the suspicious behavior observed (and filmed by 20/20). One or more traffic stops were made and no police action was taken after it was found that an officer was operating the car.

Well, it turns out that ABC neglected to do a bit of research on their informant. The goof filming the Chicago cops took copies of his film to Florida and attempted to pass it off as local coppers to force various police chiefs to buy "educational materials" from his company. Turns out he's a known huckster under investigation in four different states for various schemes and has at least one restraining order against him for attempting to set up a former employee via a prostitution blackmail ploy. ABC is backpedaling hard at this point - they don't want to be anywhere near this jagoff if/when the shit hits the fan.

Watch yourselves. There are still plenty of cameras out there. And who knows what ABC is going to do if they still think there's a story somewhere out there.
